One other tip I can add, is to use a piece of heat shrink and slide it onto your rudder cable and after crimping, slide it over the crimp and put some heat to it to it. It creates a cleaner visual look, as well as prevents moisture from getting in between your crimp and the wire surface, further aiding in corrosion resistance, at a stressed location that is prone to failure in the future

Well I wish I would found your video before I spent an entire Saturday and 4 home depot trips messing around with my hand steering upgrade.

I like the way you used the wire leader. Smaller dim. but as strong as the wire used by Vibe. This is one of the Kayaks on my very short list. I like it, the video was very usefull.

Thimble he also addresses dissimilar materials to not use aluminium w/ Stainless Steel in a previous video. Only he's got larger cable.

That's pretty slick how ya routed the new cable. But how much of a pain is it if the original cable is broken or missing? I'm gonna have to replace the rudder cables on the one I'm gettin.

Instead of connecting the two wires together, I simply ran the new nylon coated wire along the old wire....very easy, no need to tape. What I found to be the cause of the slapping sound inside was that one end of the starboard sleeve went inside the hull....the other side is quiet. I haven’t replaced the old sleeve yet....still trying to figure out how.

How did the Berkley Nylon Coated Wire hold up as your rudder cable? I'm thinking about using some for the same application

So I just bought a vibe sea ghost 130 and I'm wondering how it gets shipped to my house

Does this improve the feel and response of the rudder? I noticed on my new seaghost the action tends to feel spongy.

yes it does and I'm still yet to do it on the new ghost but on the OG it is much more responsive. Sorry for the delayed response. Vacation!!!
