Dude, you've got to be crazy, there's no other explanation. What you did was incredible. Congratulations !!! A big hug from Brazil.
dude that shot at 1:10 is beautiful
Dude that shot of the quad flying in snow at 1:11 is freaking insane !
A clever design with effective results. Well done Daniel! Thumbs up!
I'm digging your new format with all the testing. Thank you! It's very much appreciated.
Really nice slowmo shot at the end panning around the flying quad. Slick!
The wire rope isolator has been around for quite some time. One of the things to optimizing its isolation is matching the weight of what is being isolated with the stiffness of the wire rope. You can add more loops for higher weight or add loops of a smaller wire to fine tune the weight to stiffness. If feels like the most successful isolators use higher rope count with smaller diameter. The rope or string does not have to be metal. Other materials like weed eater string can be used or other stiff plastics. If you want to drive yourself nuts but get a really good isolator, use thick fishing line. Many loops close together and very, very tunable. Getting the lines even in length and spacing is the sanity testing part. I can't tell you the number of these type of isolators I've used. Hada radar mounted on a C130 and EVERYTHING was on isolators of some kind. Wish you the best of luck and congratulations on you improvements in making these videos. Very good job.
A great idea Daniel. Gonna go out in the garage and build one right now!
Hey, i'm following you for a while now and i must say : this video is very good, u progressed on a lot of aspect (video length, content density, way of speaking...), congratulations !! :)
Good work, I just last week "discovered" these isolators using zip tie loops. Had been doing everything under the Sun for vibes. And then the Sun shone. Wire or plastic or, or, or isolators. Thanks for the stabilization idea. Right now that is what I am working on. Back to the shop. Again, good vid and good work!!
Cool! I once watch a documentary about submarines and they show this same method to isolate vibrations on electrical equipment/transformers and such. Great video!
Very cool DIY as always! I love the SLC views!!!
thank you answering my question i asked 6 days ago in a videodemonstration. best support i've ever seen ;) keep it up.
Really good! That gives pro quality flight footage.
Very nice man! Ultra stable and at nearly no cost.
Nice, thanks. Also, very cool that you made your own drone.
I agree, that slow mo at 1:10 was gorgeous!
I've got mine glued top and bottom to some go pro mounts. Looks like scarabs having piggy-back time. I call it the "sexy-scarab" gopro mount!
My god those houses are freakin huge...!!
I love all your tips and test buddie. Keep up the good work :)
Nice work. That really works well.
great results!...nice work
Great work man, keep it up!
That's really cool. Great idea
Nice, instructive video, I saw first this solution on the Flexacopter two years ago, I never checked it. I don't know if you know but there is one material called Alpha Gel - kinda silicon jelly which beats every existing vibration dampening solution, it's not quite cheap but a very good investment. I built a belt driven gimbal for NEX5 class camera which was suspended on eight compressed pieces of 20x20x10mm of these jelly cubes - it was awesome!
Excellent idea! Wish you the best in selling these. I may just have to pick up a few myself.
Awesome tip man, Thanks bro. Considering ordering if i cant get my props balanced. Might not hurt either way.
I saw this wire rope isolator principle in 1989 used to support a disc drive used to control the guns in a battleship turret.
Just what I was lookin for. Btw, Shorts in the snow. Thats die hard dude ;)
Looks freakin cold there!!
very ingenious. nice design.
Fantastic. Thanks for sharing.
Nice test, nice video. Keep it simple! Most of all keep the videos coming!
I know others have said it, but I must add to the choir... that slow-mo shot at 1:10 is stunning.
Nice work! I wonder if zip ties (cut the ends) would work too...
Great video Thanks for the input
Nice video. Good job...
motion picture awesome really smooth
Nice test, and very nice casual footage you got packed in your video. + 1 like ;D.
Great idea Dan Super way kool man
Thank you for posting this. Made similar thing and it helps a lot.
VERY informative, thanks!
We can see Quinn's influence on you already, a haircut! The bedroom will be tidy next :-) Thanks for posting......bye.
Just watched a couple of your videos and they are amazing! Just a suggestion, why don't you quantify numerically your findings with one of those iphone apps that measures vibrations?! Ciao!
Hey, gotta do something in winter in Utah.
Very nice test! Your brushless dslr gimble looks good. Where is it from?
I like the interesting tests you've been doing recently. Another point to mention about dampening is that it's also important that it is not susceptible to shaking induced by air turbulence. That happens with soft earplug dampening. B.t.w., that's a nice looking countryside and neighborhood wherever that is (US or Canada). Either house prices must be relatively cheap there or everybody is loaded in that neighborhood, like brain surgeons, space shuttle pilots, etc.

Very interesting construction, i've never seen isolator like this in Poland... :/ Have you got a film with heavier camera? Something like a Lumix GH4 with battery pack and lens (~1,3kg)?
I have balanced my props as well as I can and still getting jello, just ordered these to help, I'll feedback :)
Really! There is the jelly effect. Tried to do everything exactly like in the instructions and size. used 3mm steel cable. What was seen jelly effect disappears at night and during the day very strong. Take the picture probably because of the design error. Would be grateful if you could comment on our photo.
Great vid, good advice, freaking shorts in the snow?
That's cooool. It seems you have already summer ... _being outdoor with shorts at __3:35_ *(ツ)* Thank you for your great ideas. B.regards, *_RCSA_*
СКАЖИТЕ ЧТО ДЛЯ GoPro толщины кабеля, должно быть? Я взял 3мм 4мм Они не сильно толстые веревки?
Exceptional stability
Great! Have you been filming any snowboarders? You should film for the Olympics!
Great info there man, Thanks for sharing (Y)
great results
wow smooth as glass
works well for in the air but I think the cables are too strong for using on the bike (handlebar) such as using iphone. Mr. what you think of this meaning?
nice work
what motors do you use, because i'm looking for some good motors for my hexacopter i'm going to run 10 inch props btw great drone you should mace a vid on you to make one
rctsetflight can you make a super fast plane where you care about drag to get the optimal speed, dou you acept the callenge?
Hi, love your videos and no messing about when something need diy approach :) Just question. What settings do you use on your T2D. I tried bunch of them and still cannot get the right PID. btw would love to buy some stuff from you but you re just way to far (Czech R.) Keep up the awesome work!

Jiri Pospisil when choosing PID just mess about, go from one extreme to the other and it should be in between that. i got it after about 4 changes after seeing the extreme PID
What motor do you recommend for the brushless gimbal or is there a good forum you can point me to? Love the videos!
thats amazing!
didn't understand something, it really such small size? that is 2.5 cm? a square of 2.5 cm x 2.5 cm I correctly understand? something very small turns out the size. or I confuse something. by the form about 4 centimeters turn out.
Well done, and reasonably priced too! Do you think one is enough for a 3 axis eos m gimbal or should I wait for a larger version?

DJ Kinney You really need engineering data to justify a $10 purchase? Just buy one (or go spend a couple bucks at Home Depot and spend a few minutes to make one) and see if it subjectively improves your video quality. If it does, keep using it. If it doesn't, throw it away.
@brameldm

If you need the $10 to feed your family in Mexico maybe you should just sell your FPV gear instead.

It's valid in general, but I think given the cost of this thing relative to the cost of the hobby it's moot. If somebody has done their best to balance everything that spins on their air frame but just can't get it right for whatever reason and this $10 widget gets them the rest of the way to a jello-free video then they'll get more ROI buying one than they will spending more time trying to balance things.

DJ Kinney Then tell me why every single one of the big name professional aerial video companies uses vibration isolation systems. Ooh they must just not balance their prop huh.
for the Wire Rope Vibration Isolator do you have to match the payload to the isolator?
Providing the weight of the dampers would be very useful!
Just ordered. How would you recommend mounting this to a T-rex 600E?

Very good one, they really work. But man! I can't believe you are always with short pants! Lol
Great vibration isolator. But, you tested plastic/foam and they didn't work in low temperatures. But then you advise to use rubber bands to hold the weight. Why not include metal springs into your build?
@pagani8

I agree!
Does using wire also work with compression?
rctestflight what is your dream job?
I see the Sony FS700 is getting some use =D
What flight controller are you using?
Do any footage has digital stabilization ?
what gimbal r u using?
Do you think using this could generate any interference or video issues??
That Tarot tilt is a pain in the neck to configurate.
u live in a very beautiful city
nice tip
Yes it is another expense, but another way to examine vibration is with a strobe light. Not the disco! But,a variable frequency light. On a bench, tethered some how, in semi darkness, one could vary both the RPM of the craft and the light while recording video to find the harmonics, current load, to favor or avoid during flight. It's a type of slow motion. I'd do it Myself, but I can't come up with the cash just now! Know what I mean?
Sweet ideal duoud i mai end up buyin a fuw kits from you 8-)

Though this is a good idea, the bracket isn't dampening vibration. What is, is the RUBBER BANDS that your using...
@rctestflight
10 жыл бұрын
In the first test the isolator was removing vibration with no rubber bands attached. The rubber bands themselves don't isolate any vibration, they just help the wire rope do it better.
How did you attach the GoPro to the Isolator Mount ?

Can I use them upside down? So, put a GoPro on top?
@JuampixDDD

i think if you use stronger steel cables it might work, but not as well as the hangling one

JuampixDDD Thicker cable doesn't work well, especially for smaller cameras like the GoPro.
Ear plugs were the best !!
