You have such class, 42 minutes devoted to such an extensive amount of information and help on a decent game, why aren't there even at least a few more people like you? 10/10 - fantastic guide, thank you for the effort!

Man I loved Zone mode. Just being able to watch the pretty visuals as you go faster and faster while being able to play your own music really was an experience! I think it's part of what gave me such fast reflexes all these years later.

SO, OK, small thing regarding to Pilot assist: If you're totally new to the series, take a Speed Lap, switch PA on, and get yourself used to the speed. Then, switch it off, and never look back.

Wow i've been a pilot since the first wipeout, and this is the best way I've seen someone explain how to play the game.

@rsmspencer Yeah, I noticed that shortly after I uploaded, decided against re-recording it due to the time it would take to encode it all again. However, one could also argue that I hit the speed pad *because* I followed a good racing line ;)

Ty dude, I got this game for free when psn went down and I was really into it but I just got stuck pretty fast, the game simply doesn't have a nice way to teach you each feature but this video just works perfectly at doing that, it is a great compliment to the game in fact!

There were a few minor errors (mainly of omission - nothing people won't find through standard play), but this is basically everything a new player could ever need to get started, aside from a few hundred laps in racebox =P Amazing job. Amazing guide! I played 3 races and got 8th place three times in a row (yeah pretty noobish :/ i know), BUT then I found your video and got 1st right after watching the first 7 minutes! I've been playing WipEout HD for years and i had no idea there were "invisible" stats on the race craft! Would you care to go over this in more detail if you can? I'd love to know what stats are hidden from view with each ship.

Cuddlesworth Mostly just the craft's weight. It can seriously affect how well said craft can maintain stability going through corners and banked sections

Awesome tutorial - wish I'd had one like it when I was starting out. Beginners really need to know (i) how to make the thrust control digital and (ii) that there's good reason to remap the airbrakes to L1 and R1 (iii) that almost every corner in the game can and should be tackled slightly faster by sideshifting.

Watched this vid and most of your others in the last few days. I played WipEout until Wip3out, but couldn't get into it after the PS1 versions coz I thought you HAD to use the sticks. I realised the D-pad worked but thought there was no way I could become proficient at it with the sticks. Then I scrolled down here and you mention you play on the D-pad!!! I now want to go back and play HD.....but my PS3 died last month!
