Winthrop vs. Duke: Duke defeated Winthrop 83-70, but this was a much closer and hard-fought win than the final score may suggest. Winthrop challenged Duke for most of the game and the Blue Devils did not get much separation until the final minutes. Blue Devils' freshman Cassius Stanley left the game in the 2nd half with an injury and did not come back. Sophomore Joey Baker was huge for Duke, scoring 16 points off the bench and hitting four 3-pointers. Matthew Hurt led the Blue Devils with 20 points, while Vernon Carey Jr. recorded a double-double with 17 points and 10 rebounds.
