I feel like it might confuse the dogs but it’s still a cute idea

When I was a kid and growing up on our farm, I witnessed something unusual and kind of funny... In addition to our own horses, we boarded a couple of large draft horses. On one particular evening when I went into the barn to do the chores, one of the draft horses had a goat sitting on its back and that goat had a chicken sitting on its back. Everyone seemed satisfied with the arrangement. Back in the mid-70s cameras were not something we carried in our pocket so unfortunately I didn't get a picture. But the memory is strong and that will have to do.

There is a German fairy tale called "Town Musicians of Bremen" - it is pretty much what you describe. Google it, you'll find it even has a statue dedictated in Bremen.

My cat loved the weird chickens moment of zen. She’d look at the video and loved to hear them clucking. Monday she passed away, so today the weird chickens made me cry. I really like your videos and for awhile, a cat named Chyna did, too.

Enjoy the overnight footage, especially seeing Toby and Abby splendidly doing their jobs. From one Dog Person to another you can no longer deny you are now a member of a beautiful subculture of dog and cat people.

I had a wonderful St. Bernard mix dog for many years, who would NOT come in the house at night, no matter what the weather. Pogo, my doggie, would make a big nest in a snow bank, and despite my urging, would happily park herself there all night. My friends thought I was abusing her, and I tried to explain that she preferred the snowy cold. On windy nights, she consented to sleep in a comfortable chair on the covered porch. I miss her mellow presence whenever I glance out at the deep snow drifts.

The cello music during the Weird Chicken Moment of Zen is definitely classy, Morgan. Love it! ❤

The new cows are so happy with their new penthouse barn suite!

God, when the weather rapport came on I started looking around my tabs for where that came from. It was part of your video..

I had a pair of polka dot boots once and my chickens were always pecking at the dots. It was hilarious!

Oooh that's a lot of snow and it always amazes me how well all the animals handle it. New cattle seems to be adjusting quite nicely, and Baby B. does seem a bit more friendly. Hoop Coupe survived beautifully, and may it continue to,lol. It's a good day at Gold Shaw Farm, thank you Morgan for taking us along.🐄🦆🐔🐕🐈❤️👍

I had a German Sheppard. When it was very cold, and I mean Canadian cold, she loved to stay on the balcony. It's was like if she loved the cold.

Our Winter in Western Canada has been low precipitation but also temps down to -41C, which is about the same in Degrees F. This time of the year I watch our dog closely. He can almost pee at a dead run!

Glad the storm wasn’t that bad. I’m liking Aretha Franklin, Arianna Grande, and Amy Winehouse for your new cows names.

Glad you are all ok . We have avalanche warnings and problems in the Wasatch mountains . They got five to nine feet of snow in the mountains and it's suppose to get warm . Take care be safe .

Morgan, just bought Toby Dog of Gold Shaw Farm on audiobook. It's adorable! You should be very proud of yourself. Been watching your channel quite some time. Never thought the daily life of a farmer in Vermont would be so gratifying. It makes a boring day more bearable.

I'm glad everyone is doing good and the cattle integrated well.

It looks like the dogs know the camera is you. The way they look in the camera after dealing w the threats its like they're saying "DAD! Do ya see this shxt? Where u at??"

The only concern I have is mixing horned cattle with polled cattle doesn't always work out. The horned ones know how to use their horns to bulky and injure other cattle especially the polled cattle. So keep an eye out for that.

A suggestion for the new cow's names: Amethyst, Aurora, and Athena. The farm looks so pretty with all the snow there. Being from the south, I have never seen this much in person but would love to visit, play in it, and then come home to get warm again.

I love to watch the dynamics between the new cows and your existing herd. We've been getting subzero weather in Missouri with a TON of wind so I'm super sympathetic. Hope all goes well for you!

Rain after a snow storm is the absolute worst!

Just a suggestion, Morgan, strain the bone broth through a fine strainer. Ginny Barn Cat knows how to keep her paws dry and warm by hitching a ride on your shoulder. She let's you do the walking for the both of you.

Once when I was watching one of the Scottish farm series, the farmer was bringing in the cows (coos) along the drive that they were quite used to following. They would walk up to the gate that lead to their pasture and into the pasture. Along the drive was a stone wall about six feet tall. And sitting on the wall was a black cat. The cows walked along their familiar route until the lead cow saw the cat and stopped suddenly, staring at the cat. The farmer was surprised since she'd never seen them do that before. The cat seemed to be oblivious to the cows watching her as she sat with her back to the cows. Then she stood, stretched and took a step ... cows took a step, eyes still on the cat. By now the farmer is laughing. Cat took a couple more steps ... so did the cows. Now the farmer is laughing so hard, she's holding onto her stomach. Cat walks a couple more steps ... cows follow ... then cat stops. Cows stop. Farmer tells cat to let the cows get to pasture. Cat ignores farmer for a couple of minutes then jumps off the wall. Cows walk along and turn into their pasture. Took awhile before the farmer stopped laughing ... me, too.

About your book signing… have you considered having TOBY sign some? You could have him ink stamp his paw print. 😊

I can't explain exactly why, but this video was extremely entertaining to me! I was just glued to the screen the entire time, you're getting so good at this

I'm glad we didn't get the wet part of the storm. Falling snow down the roof means good roof! For some reason it always makes me laugh when I see snow fall down like that. For the cow names. There are songs like Amanda, Angie, Alice.

Baby B is just too adorable. I have enjoyed watching her grow up on the farm.😊

I'm from Eastern Canada so I know all about snow and cold weather but I'm currently in The Philippines where it is +30C or +86 Fahrenheit. I never thought I would actually miss the cold hard winters. I envy you Morgan for having your own land and independence and for being able to do as you please without a nagging boss or supervisor to deal with. Your a very lucky man! Regarding the issue on the windy side of the chicken tunnel, would it be possible to move the big rolls of hay to that end and create a Windbreak so you don't have as much force on the tunnel? Maybe some kind of triangular shape just to deflect? You might also want to look up "Greenhouse in the Snow" it's located in Alliance, Nebraska and is 100% geothermal, might make a good present for a gardener in Vermont, but I bet if you talk to Alfred there might be a way do you use it for the Birds. Oh and I'm in total agreement that the new cow should all have French a names and Andrea the giant is perfect!!!

I've been watching since you just had small amounts of birds. your editing skills and ability to put together a video thats both interesting and beautiful is amazing. I love watching you videos, it gives me hope i can homestead at a smaller scale later in my life. Thanks for being awesome, and showing us all to just live your dreams even when it's scary. If farming ever fails for you, you'd make an amazing film maker.

For the back of the hoop coop, maybe an easy solution would be to put up a couple of 'walls' outside in a V formation to have the wind separate on the sides, they has to be a cheap material and a pole that can be setup for that task

I am sure that the dogs knew that different cows were behind the barn, they are just reacting to seeing them after smelling them for days. I bet each cow smells slightly different to the dogs. 😉 Possibly each bird, as well.

Oh a good name for one of the new cows could be Avril (Lavigne) because Charolais are french much like she is

Once a month I make chicken foot broth for our Ridgebacks and they barely chew, more so hoover down their food when we add it to the kibble, it's soooo good for them.

Over the winter I imagine baby B will realize that you are the one that brings the food and treats and not some noisy weird thing that’s invading her field and really warm up to you very quickly. I also like the call you made last year to not bottle feed lil BB and let her mom do her thing on raising her bottle fed animals can become extremely clingy and a clingy cow with giant horns who doesn’t fully understand they are alot stronger than humans and that humans are extremely fragile can lead to nasty accidents. Keep up the good work Morgan! It’s been amazing to watch this farm grow over the past 4 years and I’ve learned so much (and realized how much I miss living on a farm)!
