This is my winter fortnight routine. I've included links to the #ctek #battery #charger that I use on my #caterham
I have the CTEK charger on a hive plug which is on a schedule. I have the battery on for a day once per week. Then every two weeks I turn the engine over in this way. Again I'm not an expert but this is what I do. I also should have added to check your battery levels which I now do since one battery ran dry while being on the trickle charger all the time. Keep an eye on that if that is your preferred way. Have a look of blatchat and the Facebook groups to see what others recommend.

Did you buy your Caterham used or from a dealership or from Catahem them self. And if it is from Catahem, did you customise it to your liking? When I eventually buy my Catahem, I want to customise it, but I can buy them cheaper used.

Hi I bought Fern used from sevens and classics so no I didn't get to choose anything. When buying a used Caterham you might find the perfect Caterham for you, but hopefully you can get as close to your preferred spec as possible. Most owners get upgradeitis and what their perfect spec was changes. Caterhams are so individual which I really like. Loads of parts are so easily changed.
When I've used a 5A Ctek charger, it sounds like my battery is 'boiling'. I've read you should only put in 10% or less Amps, based on the AH of the battery. So in the case of a Banner 30AH -it only need 3A in. Is this true?

Hi I'm not am expert I don't know. I've just gone from advise I've had and information I've read online. It's always a good idea to check the levels of the battery. Like I said in the video one year I left the battery on the trickle charger all of the time and it went dry which is why I have it on a timer now for 1 day per week. If you have a look on blatchat and the Facebook groups owners do different things. I'm not saying what I do is the best way but this is what I do.
Good to see you back James 👍 Unless I missed it you didn't say why you disconnect the injectors and coil and turn it over every 2 weeks. Is this just to keep the internals lubed up?

Hi thanks. Yes to keep the internals lubed up. I'm not an expert just doing what an engine builder told me and from what I've read online. A few different opinions on this though.

@@ACaterhamCalledFern pros and cons to both of the usual methods I suspect. I try not to lay my car up if poss so it at least gets a bit of use. Not easy with the current state of the British weather though

@steverabbits yep best to keep everything moving. It was very unusual for me this year to have her on axle stands for so long. Had lots to fix and my free time has gone down alot. I think it was nearly 3 months on axle stands which isn't normal for me. I was still driving in December and it was around March when she was back roadworthy. More to come on that.
