Winter Overlanding in North Georgia

Come along as we enjoy some winter camping and trail riding through the Blue Ridge WMA. We encounter some chilly temps but with our new escapod Topo2 it makes it so much more comfortable. Find out a little about the history of the Blue Ridge WMA and how it was formed and the man behind it. Oh, and see what delicious meals Aimee has cooked up for us this time.

@@GetOverItOutdoors I was amazed at what was inside your camper. That thing is really cool. I would to have loved to have something like that when I camped and hunted or even the Marines (but not sure they would have gone for it). I lived not to far from where you were in Georgia in Waynesville, NC and worked remodeling cabins in Maggie Valley. My daughter is still in Cashiers, NC. Really liked the drone videos. Especially the short montage of views of your camp site then showing the different locations you were at. You did great job with that thing, I would have crashed it for sure. @@DrJohn493 I can’t say that the rear kitchen hasnt been a hindrance thus far. We haven’t had to cook in the rain and this last time it was a little bit chilly, but nothing that we couldn’t handle. We really like to cook outside. You’ve seen our videos, we’re usually cooking over an open fire. So we’d love the outside kitchen on the trailer. If it ever is a downpour, we always have a few freeze dried meals that we can use instead of cooking a full meal.

Trailer does great. She's built for off roading with the independent suspension, high ground clearance and the max coupler full articulating hitch. She'll pull just about anywhere. Just maybe not 8,9,10 extreme rated rock trails. We had her out in the San Raphael Swell in late July and was pulling it over rocks and ledges and it never held us back. With the one piece fiberglass reinforced composite body we don't have to worry about any seems or joints shaking loose or cracking the seals.

Hey Daniel, not sure if you saw my response last week when you asked about the door seals but nope we have not had any dust or water intrusion in the cabin. When you rented a Topo2 you had a draft coming through the seal on the stargazer window? Must have needed some kind of adjustment. Our seals super tight. The window if you look closely is double pained with an air gap in between to help insulate. Kind of like your windows at home. Plus if you run the heat the vents blow across that window to help with condensation and warm it.
