Turning a 1000 foot beast into art!
Unbelievable Footage! My Lord, anyone who say's math isn't important, has never seen a 1K feet of steel navigate the Sturgeon Bay Ship Canal! Whoa!!
I worked on the Gott during her construction she is a beautiful ship

What an interesting video!! Great shots...
Love watching your videos. Really developing so much respect for these hard working men and woman who sail the Great Lakes and delivering commodities that are vital to this great country of ours. I just love these ships themselves. Years ago I was able to tour the SS JOHN MATHIS MUSEUM here in Cleveland, Ohio. Not only was I absolutely amazed but instantly fell in love with these Great Lake Freighters and how truly majestic they are. Keep making these great videos, many of us enjoy your passion immensely. Take care, be well.

I agree, it is difficult to grasp the enormity of these boats until you are next to them when they are moving.
That defiantly seems like a different experience then seeing them in Duluth. Sure churns up a lot of dirt/silt in the channel. Thanks for the video!

Thanks for the great images. The best are the quad copter videos of this ship coming through the channel. I do remember growing up in the town of Preble in Brown county about 40 miles south of Surgeon Bay, WI. Winter is long and hard in the north nearing 45 degrees north of the equator. I remember at least several winters with huge snow storms that dropped lots of snow and many very cold winters well under zero degrees F. This is a warmer winter much of Lake Michigan in not frozen over even in January. We have been to Western Australia to see the huge ocean going bulk carriers on the Indian, Atlantic, southern, and Pacific oceans. If you pealed back the top of the Berge Stahl the Gott may easily fit into the Stahl's hold. I have seen the locks at Sault Saint Marie. They are huge. But, take a trip to see the new Panama canal panamax lockes. The chinese are trying to build an even bigger canal through Nicaragua.
Absolutely stunning. This video has it all.

She’s coming home. She’s a beautiful ship. Thank you for sharing your videos with us. 😊 This may sound crazy but when I look at her bow head on, to me her anchor openings look like eyes and with the rub marks under the openings it looks like she’s got a cute smile 😊 Sorry I have a wild imagination.

Jeepers! Your visual sense communicates underlying appreciation for the grand. You could narrate the school board minutes and I’d be putty in your fingers with that bass-baritone speaking voice of yours. Musical accompaniment is mood catalytic. I’m prone to exaggeration just a wee bit wink wink. Seriously - cheesecake levels of rich goodness. Bravo

@Kevin O'Donnell Your channel just showed up in my feed this morning, and after watching your newest video about the Gott, I thought I'd explore some of your other videos. Your 10 favorite photos of 2021 caught my eye as I saw a glimpse of the Grand Haven, MI light house. Grand Haven is my hometown, and I've walked that pier many times. Ironically, I became a "boat nerd" last spring when a large boat got stuck on a sandbar entering the channel at Grand Haven!

Wow!! Incredible!! I had no idea the ships navigated through such a tight channel - for their nap - just wow!!
Great video and you got some wonderful stills there too. It's always a little sad to see these grand ladies of the lakes come in for the winter but glad in knowing that they will be back out again when spring comes. Thanks for a great video.

Those are some big beasts. I remember the St Clair used to tie up right behind us (CGC Mobile Bay 80-81) Even at 700+ feet, still some impressive ships. 73's
YES!! My favorite footer on the lakes...not my favorite boat, but as far as the footers...love the bow brow, and she's the most powerful boat on the lakes. Wish I could've been there, but as always, thanks for capturing the majesty of her arrival Kevin! 😎
