All martial arts are based in science and physiological concepts. The problem is not all teachers know this.

The chinese martial arts contain knowledge thats be won in centuries.
2:14 Great reflexes coordination, attacking and defending at the same time is gold
You also need zero room to fight, my Sifu was challenged by a friend of his who studied Taekwondo, Sifu agreed with one condition, that he choose where the fight would take place. When he chose a bathroom stall, his friend dropped the challenge.

@no name usj it is not seen as ego. It is to demonstrate that Wing Chun can have the advantage in enclosed spaces where the other arts would be at a disadvantage and limited in movements.

actually its the opposite, wing chun fighters need alot of space because they usually fight opponents bigger then they are (hence where the form originated from) Wing Chun is as much about foot work as it is about other core concepts he just did not address it here for some reason.
I had the good fortune to meet and train with Grand master Jim Fung for a brief time in 1991. I initially had asked him if he could find out any information about my Grandfather who study a style known as Dragon Tiger fist through his Hong Kong connections. And so we started talking about his upbringing in Hong Kong and fighting on the streets plus his training in Wing Chun and the differences between the needs of Australian students to Hong Kong students plus other things . Before i had to leave he told me his street fighting rules and his personal belief in the secret to Wing Chun, Of all the Masters i have meet and trained with he is my favourite.

Dear International Wing Chun Academy :), I would like to say, thank you, to you, for taking the time, energy and effort to both upload and share this video with the youtube family. Thank You!
I like wing chun, but I think a lot of the concept can be applied to most martial arts. I understand it's not about the strongest attacks, but rather non telegraphed and immediate counters. However I think it's a little lacking on the offensive side from what i've viewed in a lot of demonstrations. Which is fine. I'm a karate guy so i'm keen on striking, but i've learned a lot from the relaxation video's, too. It's improved my technique. It's also a style which has a lot of defense :).
@Xeil I am glad you liked it. I am a level one (which is equilavent to black belt in karate) in this academy. In wing chun, we attack and defend at the same time!!!!
You made me really interested for wing chun. I already fall in love with Taekwondo and Kickboxing, but this looks so beautiful to master..
Power and humility...I love this style.

I found that as I grew in experience stance became less defined and squared. Sure I am comfortable in square stance but I also find situations where right stance or even left stance will put my opponent at a disadvantage because of their physical strengths or limits. Just a thought for advanced students to ponder.

That's correct - it's a common misconception that Wing Chun exponents should be locked into a square-on stance. Fights are dynamic environments, and one will typically transition between square and staggered stances in combat, depending on positioning.
wing chun will save your life on the street, this is the real reason one trains is for self defense, unlike a gun you forget under the car seat or night stand ,this goes with you, being attacked moving around on the street is not fun,but this art will give you an edge that definitely works, you might get cut or hurt but you will survive the attack, your opponent will be healing for a long time, these blows and blocks work, and it is excellent exercise that is built in,you won't be sorry

This is very well done. A lot of time and effort went in to clear, concise explanation and visually understandable illustration. Thanks for this. As a student of the Calasanz system, where we combine many techniques and styles into a practical application, this video is a good fit for us as well. To all who worked to make this, again, thanks.
Wing chun has huge benefits, I'm going to watch learn and play around with your technique a bit. If you are a smaller person train a grappling art as well tho. I'm a smaller guy, and I can beat bigger guys. You have to work tho. what is strong to you doesn't work so you have to tire them and there's ways trust me... But small cant beat big with striking alone.
"You explained this nice" Thanks for these videos!
4:30 literally me before any martial art training. Just a blob. This is great info and very inspirational. 👍
Excellent video. I learned this in the 80’s before donny yen. Or ip man. Or anything like that. Chao soa and the northern styles were taught at my school. By a purist who later told me the best fighter were tai fighters. Of which he fought professionally in that career undefeated for 7 years. Insaw him split a 6’ back in half with a side kick. He was annoyed at us pushing the bag. After i tore it in half he said i kick so hard i break your nose on your knees. He was 55 when he did this.
This is a martial art style that I have been looking for. it has all the qualities I have been searching for in a fighting technique. and I hear it's also super effective for physical and mental health. Which is honestly something that I can benefit from.

Many martial arts are good for mental health as they require discipline and focus. It does have a solid foundation and good theory & concepts so I do vouch for it.
Excellent video!

One of the best videos I've ever watched. Really well done! your Wing Chun is realistic, effective and frills-free. Greetings from Italy!
Great explanation of an often misunderstood concept. It answers a lot of my wing chun questions!
Beautiful display
Excelente video!!
That varies a lot depending on what style of karate you choose. I do Kyokushin, which is very, very physical, a lot of emphasis being put on actually withstanding a beating and doing damage to the opponent. Competitions in kyokushin, and sparring in general, is usually full contact and no protection, except for no strikes to the head. This means unless you're really fast at kicking to the head, a fight takes around 2 minutes. Shotokan though is more one-hit-and-done fight
2:14 reminds me of that scene from the matrix where neo becomes the one and blocks smiths strikes with ease
Very interesting and informative.

Great info! I like your video
the more stiff you are the more youre gonna get hit. if you have the time to set up your guard your opponent will also. if youre still that stiff at that point youre most probably gonna take alot of hits because fighting is dynamic. also this guard is more of a display stance. the actual fighting stance is similar to a western boxing stance but more oriented towards the centerline

Very well explanation
Cool, awesome,, relax, focus, save the energy & nailed it..
Been practicing this since I suffered a severe injury (That revealed I had cancer) and basically put me out of hte amateur boxing game. I have extensive experience in martial arts and boxing, totaling over 100 fights. I have recently adopted Wing Chung (I have NO CHOICE but to be an autodidact right now, and with my experience I can only hope I can at least grasp the basics), I also am 2 years into hardcore training via my dad who is an EX-SEAL (who is a master of SAS/SEAL combat technique)
Best video
This theories are great.
Great video :-)
I need to start learning this. Like, last week.
very good video im going to practice the hand movements as i have the shifting and stance down to a tee...

Did you find a school? Are you a wing chun or other martial art practitioner by now? Hopefully so.
Buen vídeo!
Awasome..
@Xeil cool. A huge part of Wing Chun is about power generation- not just getting in first, but ending fights quickly with a powerful blow. As I understand it, karate is usually more from an aerobic fitness/ "orthodox" muscular strength base, whereas WC is basically from relaxation- but as my teacher said, the biophysics are much the same at an elite level.
Thank you Sifu
Good stuff
I love to train wing tsun *.*!
Nice summary of some important features, but I have to respectfully disagree on one point: I’d never want to stay square on in a fight. That would just be inviting a kick to the groin. Otherwise, I thought everything else was spot on.
Wach full thank you for shareing this vidio this great vidio 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Where is this school located?
I Liked the Video, thank you very much. Id much rather be fast, powerful & accurate and work close in then way out like boxing. I have to check your other videos out now. Thanks again for the Wing Chung Core Concepts

Great presentation i loved it and i will begin training Wing Chun soon
he look like Donnie yen
as with all things you have variables the stop kicks and methods used to kick out the openent at the supporting knee are of course banned in mma how ever it's not to say just cause you know these techniques you can pull them off . I would strongly suggest trying these techniques on a larger person charging you and protected in red man baton training armour at full contact before assuming it works in real situations. also to be sure a good stamp to the ankle prevents them coming back if you did not break the knee
Très instructif 👍🙏
Love it
Im thinking about taking up wing chun after seeing this
Great team wow !!
do.u have groups,instructord,practioners in Atlanta
My way of fighting is just simply anticipating. Very easy
Amazing wing chun really
i do TKD and wing chun. and trust me. its beast. i've been in a fight and wing chun is only way i can fight once one of my classmate tried to do a Mid section take down. and kneed him in the face and he quickly picked himself up and tries to punch me and I used Tan sao on the inside and then did my chain punches, and once he tried to make space I quickly did a front kick. and knock him down. He wasnt unconscious but he didnt tried to get up after that. so Tbh wing chun is only for self defense and is an Art in china. its not meant for cage fighting for those filty animals that Always compares everything to UFC or mma. some Martial arts isnt created for that matter. so keep it to yourself. and stop disrespecting one of the chinese main cultures.

The rules od competitions limits the styles, the entire system of wing chun or kung fu then breaks apart, because they weren't design for safe fighting, but to kill, it is easy to see, if you watch a wing chung o kung fu practitioner in those competitions, his o her movements ended up being almost identical to kickboxing or the martial art that the rules of the competition are for .

Tell me how JJ or BJJ deals with multiple opponents then. Once you go to the ground, youre dead. Grappling is amazing in 1v1 situations, such as cage fights, but it fails on the street when you get attacked by more than one person.

What is the song?
I really would like to learn this martial art, I have no prior experience in any martial arts but there is a gym about 30 minutes away from me, do you think it’s worth a shot?
We’re can I get win shun classes in the US.
So, nice....
Good
@deathtoy101 he is half-half, i think he's the son of grandmaster jim fung
does bodyweight affect ur attack or counter attack in wingchun?
I like this wing chun
I only wish there was a wing tsun studio in the area where I live :( But my friend and I can't find one...
Gotta feel the motion(s) of your opponent(s) very precisely (natural instincts utilized) in reality, or I don't think it got no limitation in all aspects.
If there any branch of that in the Philippines?
Which one is the grandmaster of this lineage of wing chun? Thanks
Where is the academy
I really really wish their was Wing chun here in Anchorage Alaska
Super
Amazing the world largest wing chun really
is that guy in the blue white or azn??
studied many styles of kung fu since i was 12 wing chun lau gar jeet kune do to name a few and also in my time ive been in military and learned their combat cqb training brazilian jiu jitsu boxing and mma! kung fu is always the base/core that i work from its very effective! but while doin mma the teacher saw my style instantly and everytime i turned up to train they slagged off kung fu callin it useless (in a respectful manner ofc i wasnt offended im not a snow flake lol) but if you watch alot of other styles yt vids they class kung fu as useless in a real life situation when i dont feel it is at all! i like to learn a style remove what i feel is not working for me and replace it with something that does! .....the phrase "be like water!" always comes to mind
