WINDY WILD CAMPING - FASTPACKING with Lightweight Gear - STICKLE TARN LAKE DISTRICT UK

DISMAYED
A decent run out carrying all my kit for a cold night camping out. I use my old Hilleberg tent to keep the weather off and some PHDesigns down kit to keep me warm. Blue helped my locate a load of rubbish left by some ‘fly campers’ which was a disgrace not abiding by the ‘leave no trace’ rule. I tidy up and carry the lot back down the mountain to the bin. Adding to my annoyance I loose my drone which means I left a trace! After a total of near two days searching using the last GPS it was no where to be found. DJI were useless so I’ve analysed the flight data myself and will be heading back to find it soon.
Even with the above it was still amazing to be out in the wilds of the Lake District and getting some good exercise for both the dog and I.
Enjoy your adventures and leave no trace🥰
All love
Al and Blue

PHDesigns - M.Degree 200K Sleeping Bag
For ultralight backpacking or multi day adventure racing with a typical operating temperature of +4C. This bag is useable in three seasons alone but with added down clothing or adding an over bag into winter to. Designed minimally with 1000 fill power down to maximise the warmth to weight ratio with an overall weight of just 340g!!!
www.phdesigns.co.uk/minimus-d...
PHDesigns - Minimus Down Trousers
Ultralight (230g) packable down trousers using 900 fill power down. Simple design to reduce weight but functionally perfect for those colder nights at camp with a typical operating temperature of -5C.

PHDesigns - Wafer Ultima K Down Jacket
Weighing in at just 185g (without hood) this jacket maximises warmth to weight ratio and will keep you warm down to freezing. Ideal to put on when you arrive at camp with a depleted body after a hard day moving. It uses the same 1000 fill power down as their sleeping bags and like all of PHDesigns gear it is made in the UK. Mine is a standard sized medium and fits me perfectly and I’m 6ft with a slim (ish) athletic build but like many of their garments you can order custom sizes to suit your body shape and size. No other compant seems to do that! It looks good, it feels good and due to it’s weight and pack size worth carrying even just for emergency situations. I’ll be wearing this a lot in all parts of my life!

It's so hard to believe that there are people who would surround themselves with beauty and then muck it up like that. WHY ??!! WHAT IS WRONG WITH THEIR HEADS ?? Thank you soooo much Allen. You and Blue are GOOD MEN !! P.S. I'm sorry that I haven't been around for some time. My health is going bad rather quickly, but the best medicine for that is a good dose of you and Blue. A little humor from Steve Wallis. And some good BLIZZARDS with Jarl. Now I'm healed 😌 ☺ Thank you for hauling another man's trash off the beautiful earth 🌎 ❤

Even at 15 , I proudly wear a t-shirt saying "leave no trace" and stick to it... it really annoys me when things like that happen, it shines a bad light upon us respectful wild campers who only endeavour to sink into the tranquil pool of nature! I'm sick of finding camping gear up the back of Ennerdale, dubbs hut, it's like they go up there in their argos special tent then can't be arsed bringing it back down, nor they get caught out with the weather and abandon the camp leaving all their beer cans and camping gear behind. I've seen this 3 times so far this year alone. You spend a fortune o lightweight gear then end up carrying other folks crap out anyways 🤬

Nice one Al. I always end up coming down with more than I took up when walking - I found a huge mess left by a large party on Angle Tarn last year, there was no way I could carry it all but I took what I could carry, wore all the clothes I had in my bag, filled that and then constructed a bundle like yours and strapped that to my bag as well, and loaded up 2 big Aldi bags with rubbish and dragged it down. Was absolutely knackered when I got to the bottom. Winds me up when people go the the most beautiful places on earth and leave their shit behind them!!

Fly Campers is far too good a term to be used for them, and I simply call them Fly Wankers! 🤬 Sadly it is a worldwide phenomenon and something that has gone on for a century...and just increases year by year. The sight of huge piles of rubbish left in stunning locations of our beautiful planet...just kills the soul. Watching this video was both disheartening and spirit lifting. It was poignant to realise that Blue 💙 was the one that first noticed it...and your disgust at what was revealed as you reached the brow of that hill was shared by us all. You should be proud 🦚 of your actions👼 in carrying the heavy burden of others sheer laziness. Truly a king 👑 among men. Hopefully you eventually located the lost drone mate.

That plateau around High Raise sure does catch the wind. Two or three years back I was up there in summer with a forecast of 40 mph gusts and scattered showers. Instead, I found myself in the middle of the moor with 65-70mph winds and horizontal sleet. At times I was having to kneel and brace on my poles to avoid being blown off my feet. The descent via Sergeant Man was a maelstrom and I'd have had to crawl much of the way. Plus I wasn't carrying goggles and couldn't see against the storm. So I dropped down into Easedale for shelter and worked my way back over Blea Rig. A sobering reminder to anyone tempted to take these little hills lightly!

Really good video mate, great scenery and an excellent running route. My god though seeing all that shite left up there made me so angry, I'd love to have caught them so I could explain some things 😡!!. Well done for bringing it all down, Im the same as you and couldn't have left it there. Keep up the great work with brilliant messaging 👌👌

I enjoy your videos. Great views bring back memories. Most walkers and campers would not have been able to carry the extra weight including myself. Keep pressing the moto Leave No Trace. Some may listen.

During lockdown I found the remains of some kind of a rave on the slopes to the south of the tarn. There were collapsed supermarket tents, dozens of cans and bottles, miscellaneous trash and a fair bit that was worse. I carried down what I could, but I imagine it took a substantial squad to clean the place up properly. Why a whole gang of kids would choose to desecrate such a lovely place is beyond understanding.

I carried a burned out camping chair once i was fkn raging, also people throwing glass bottles in camp fires they aint gonna melt. Also last rant if theryre already one fire pit use it ffs dont build another to suit. And certainly dont build them on the only flat pieces of ground for ages...iv seen fire pits 2 meters away from, Wee lochs. I understand your frustration i hope wee never lose these places because of lazy neds littering the place. Good on you tidying up 👍
