I have hit a overhead line attached to a house. I don't know how I survived. My carbon pole hit the line and that cut a section in half and the internal hose instantly set fire. The electric line cut in half and swung by me and set a wheelie bin on fire. I can only presume it was the rubber gloves I was wearing.

It happened in the blink of an eye, only now with this video you've posted I have realised what potential outcome may of been. Thank you to everyone involved for this video and the awareness it will spread. I will be adding my clean to the cause. I cannot explain how quickly it can go wrong. I heard a bang and My brush and half a section was on the floor on fire and I look up my poles on fire. Never take anything for granted to be safe.

Wow is all I can say. Such an emotional interview to watch and you can see the pain his Dad is going through just speaking about it, I can not imagine what his wife and kids are going through. Complete respect for the strength his dad is showing all the way through this interview.

Jason has been our window cleaner for the 2+ years. He has always been cheerful, friendly and happy to chat. It is awful what has happened to him and I hope this video helps prevent the same thing happening to any other window cleaners.

What a story, how his dad held it together to talk about it and in depth. I still can’t believe we still have overhead power lines they should all be buried or pass a law where houses can’t be built near pylons etc. New legislation on the manufacturing of WFP that all sections are insulated if that is possible.

Really sorry to hear this has happened. I'm wishing Jason the best recovery he can. Hope the family are doing ok. Such an emotional video but goes to show how we all do not realise just how dangerous our job can be. I will most definitely be looking into each job more thoroughly. Is there a go fund me page where we can all donate a bit of money to help the family out ? Best wishes, Craig purnell South wales ( Barry island )

Dave, this is a sad story and this could happen to any window cleaner. Is it away Dave that we can support this family by getting all the window cleaners together in the UK? And pump a load the money into his bank account. I know this can be done. And I know as windy cleaners will stick together. Thank. You dave

Our job is dangerous just like any other i have tears in my eyes watching this, nobody deserves this, I have been cleaning 16 years and this is probably the worst i have heard about, i really hope everything goes well for Jason and his family. We need a national awareness course for window cleaners & those using pole fed products.. because this could happen to any of us at any time..

My heart goes out to Jason and his family my thoughts and prayers are with all of them and I wish him the very best in his upcoming surgery. This accident will definitely open the eyes of window cleaners around the world and most certainly help prevent this terrible accident from happening again. God Bless!

Funny thing is I literally purchased a SHOCKSTOPPER handle for my Reach-it pole last night, which is made of kevlar and is designed to prevent this type of thing happening. Thanks Dave for sharing this very sad situation that Jason has encountered. I have been in this industry since 2006 and this is the second incident I have heard of electrocution from a pole. First one was in South Africa, the guy did live but sadly lost a hand and a foot and never worked again. He was using the Gardiner Super lite at the time and touched the cables from the pylon s. He was working in a office block complex at the time. Please let us know where we can send donations. Wishing Jason the very best for the future.
