    I seem to recall airtightness being defined in the XML files. I'll take a look tonight. You may be able to mod those flat windows to be airtight with minimal effort. A lot of times, I'll make mods that just change the specs of the vanilla blocks. That way, all I have to do is enable/disable the mod and not have to worry about changing my ship designs to accommodate missing modded components.

    I think the explanation for the Wierd Air Tightness is that it would be to complex to give different Blocksides different values in that field, as every side of The Placed and already existing Blocks around it would have to be checked for that everytime you place something that might be Air tight

    as far as i remember this was once a temparary fix since a lot of blocks first have been "to airtight" (you just suffocated while standing under a slope in atmosphere) and then havent been airtight at all and with officially supporting airtightness back then they worked through most of the blocks one by one to make them correctly airtight. ... but i am not really sure about that anymore. :D long time since then.

    I was being somewhat sarcastic when I said that, but let's dive into this anyway. XD Doors and window airlocks are not mutually exclusive. I'm not saying you shouldn't use doors, I'm saying windows make the best airlocks. You can place a door and then have a window airlock right behind it. The door keeps people and bullets out, while maintaining immersion, and the window is the functional airlock. Everybody wins.

    About the tube windows being airtight on their curved edges: If they weren’t air tight on those ends, you couldn’t use them as part of an air-tight tube.

  • @ShiftyshadowTV

    @ShiftyshadowTV

    Жыл бұрын

    Sure you could, you'd just have to make the ends of the tube airtight with other blocks, the central parts of such a tube would not leek air out their sides. No. The window wall does not work perfectly as you expect it. Place it and move to a surrounding where you need airtightness. The whole room will be perfectly airtight ... but you must not move an the backside of the window directly. There you get exposed to the harsh environment, no matter how well the window saves the rest of the room. At least last time i used them this was the case.

  • @ShiftyshadowTV

    Certainly, if you want your windows to be airtight the angled ones have to be airtight in most directions. There are still some window shapes that look like they should be airtight but are not.
