I still find myself feeling very sad that Valfar is dead. He composed the best music I have ever heard in my life, truly touching work.

This song has such harsh and sweet tunes, a conglomeration where the sweetness is most agreeable for someone like me who totally despises melodies most of the time.

it is

an absolute fucking masterpiece of human ingenuity. This will be heralded as a celebration of human ability and suffering and grief and humanity in general. The -present- is not ready for it, but the future will know it for what it is. Valfar and Windir are global treasures for channeling raw emotion and power and sorrow into pure music

the guitars and atmosphere Windir had could never be matched

It's so unfortunate... that Valfar died. This band was on the rise and would have kept growing. Windir was something original. But I understand that the rest of the band buried Windir with Valfar, it was HIS band, kind of. I don't think they could have kept Windir's "atmosphere" without Valfar. I am still a HUGE fan of Windir, it's one of my favorite bands. And the songs still provoke the same emotions as if it was the first time I heard them. Hail Windir.

Valfar was the engine in this machine. Windir were still a bit underground when he passed away, not many knew that Windir existed and there was not many tours outside Norway.

Despite not understanding a word, I can't stop listening to this song, one of the best metal pieces I've ever heard. This part that starts at minute 6:07 is so exciting I'd like to listen to it on repeat for hours

Several of Windir's songs are my favorite black metal songs. This is one of them. I love the bass in this song, but the arpeggio riff that begins at 1:05 and repeats throughout the song is fucking epic. In fact Valfar was reknowned for his arpeggio picking and that's a big part of why their songs are fucking awesome.

His death wasn't perfect, he was walking to his cottage, a snowstorm hit and he froze to death. He didn't lay down to sleep in the mountains. The scenery might of cheered him up a bit, but for the most part it was a horrible death :(
