Pooran, Hope, and Rutherford let us down when it mattered most 😢. Russell’s runout was the key moment that turned the game in SA favor. His runout was the difference between 135 and 155 as he was just getting warmed up and was ready to plunder those last two overs. But that’s cricket.

I wouldn't blame Hope they should have drop Johnson Charles earlier so hope would get more time in the middle I would blame the captain and the coach for the game they give away at England.

That’s tournament play. Pro athletes live on the edge and have to go for it all the time. Russell should had valued his role more but he had to get to the strike as time was up.

The team improved from our last appearance in a t20 WC. On that note i believe Powell role as captain is the same as pooran when he was captain. They follow the plan and do not make any on field decisions. South Africa didn't outplay us, we just didn't win the important moments in the game.

Don’t worry WI will be back and you should be proud of this team for their efforts in this WC. Be proud that WI have been very good in T20I and Tests in the last year. WI cricket is improving.

I'm very disappointed .but at the same time for the team to recover from not qualifying to making the super 8s is an accomplishment in it self

Same bowling Tactics for the entire tournament was our downfall, we need to switch things up sometimes, not stick to one plan for Centuries, obviously bigger teams will adjust to suit

I agree,I have been saying this all along. Just imagine that the ball was wet and the spinners could not grip the ball and yet they were persisted with. They followed a script set by the think tank. Is Powell a captain or a pawn?

The plan was fine. Didn't Roston Chase bowl economically well? Also, after Motie was clobbered he was removed from the attack. The spinners have been our best bowlers all tournament.

We lost because of lack of imagination and will. Not runs, not bowling, not fielding. The captain needs lessons in cricketing imagination and will. Sameness is a gift to opposition

Nice song but those guys are Rucks. They need to give Chase the captaincy. Roman Powell b is a very good spokesman but a very inconsistent Batsman

100% agreed he us the mist talented all rounder in the west indies and yet in the match against England they send shepherd and Russell and Powell ahead of him mine you I am.a.jamaican but I am not bias I hsve seen Ralston chase save us us in many test.matches but for some strange reason he us underrated I guess is because he play proper cricket shop znd Don't just swing hoping to connect

50 plus dot balls when you bat equals to 9 overs literally, this has to stop if windies want to do better than other teams

....but don't forget...WI had to rebuild after losing Hope and Pooran when the score at 5 for 2. Chase and Mayers did a GOOD job in rebuilding and laying the foundation for the power hitters to come but the failures of both Powell and Rutherford and the lack of foresight in bringing back Shepherd not mainly for his bowling but for the additional power hitting at the end was the downfall of Sammy and Powell.Furthermore Powell should have split 4 overs between Mayers and Shepherd if things were getting out of hand .If Sammy had a say in the selection of the 15,why was Hetmyer picked in the FIRST place if he ( SAMMY ) knew that he was NOT going to get a match? and why was S.Joseph selected and only got one match? and how can you select 15 T20 ORIGINAL players and not select Kyle Mayers whose role as a bowler ( if that was the reason he was not selected) could have been utilized in the group stages?Sammy MUST go,since it appeared as though he was ONLY interested in his own SELF- AGGRANDIZMENT by again riding on the coat tails of the players.Powell ( seeing that he IS Jamaican) is not a STRONG captain and it looked as though he was more confused with Sammy in his hip pocket all the time.

We were automatically eliminated from the mstch agsinst England..because of msny bad decisions. Even when we batted against England i see shepherd and Russell batting shead of Ralston chase who is the most talented all rounder in all of format but he is very underrated. By many.

Sadly too many of our players were passengers against SA. Seven players DID NOT TURN UP. Hope, Pooran, Powell and Rutherford all gone for 2 runs! Hosein was supposed to give Russell the strike by refusing that run off the last ball of the previous over to Andre's run out! No match awareness! Hosein bowled 18 balls for 31 runs, Motie 6 balls 20 runs conceded and Obed 7 balls for 15 runs! Not good enough when defending a low score. I feel for Alzarri, Russell, Meyers and Chase who really played their hearts out!

That was the problem! Hope and Pooran got into their heads they had to rack up at least 200 against SA because they were batting first on a very good batting pitch based on what we’ve seen from pitches in Antigua before this game. They never assessed the pitch and threw their wickets away. If they had assessed the wicket, they would have realized that you have to actually build an innings and be selective in shot making. That pitch was difficult for batting and not a 200 pitch.

A semi-final with WI in it would have been electric with home support. It’s not to be and the competition has now lost some of its spark with their exit. WI had over 50 dot balls in both defeats to Eng and SA until we address this we will struggle to win those tight games. We now have to target the WC in 2026. Rally.

Smarter captaincy won in the end. Better use of bowlers, attacking field placings and adjusting tactics quickly is how Markram outwitted Powell.

Not surprised. A team is what their records reflects. So they are just above the USA in 7th place.

Instead of criticizing the Pitch in Guyana, maybe they should play more on it. SA bowled 7 overs of spin and strangled the big hitters.

As it was in the beginning, so it was in the end! We started badly and ended poorly too. They persisted with the failed strategy of not changing a winning team although many players failed miserably! Nevertheless, there were positives!

I disagree with a lot that was said here. True is we were playing a side (SA) that is of high quality and we did pretty well infact we completed all the way. Where windes lost this tournament was really the game against England. I think that game was really the one that push us out of the tournament. But such is lt. it’s a game and these things do happen. We MUST STOP demoralized our players who famous and well renounce globally.

We had a great keeper in Hope and we stayed with Pooran

It would appear..that T 20 cricket has its own fan base and test cricket its own fan base....

I had nightmares about that game Sunday. Pooran and Powell got out so cheaply (I can chalk up Hope to good bowling and positioning.) It was a tough pitch to bat on, but bowling didn't lose it for us; poor batting lost it for us, same as against England. Like to see where we improve across ALL formats ahead of the next tournament.

Folks lets be honest I rather be #9 and win the WC # 3 and out. People be honest Windies have players than can't bat lets look at it Charles, Powell, have no technique therefore on any track in the world that offers some assistance for bowling, they will fail more than prosper, Pooran, have all the talent but know brains example when Hope got out and the SA captain came on to bowl knowing the importance of the game why in the world would he play such a shot, King decent player, Mayers the verdict is out but not looking too promising, why in the world would you pick Hetty and not even play him once even in the game against the Afghans to have in ready further who can you play Rutherford over Hetty when in the worlds best T20 game Rutherford sits over Hetty any day, I agree with FAZ, but he is wrong you have to believe that any amount of runs you can defend it if not why play the game, and its not loosing is the problem its having a Captain who can't hold is place on the team on pure talent, lets look coaching and captains decisions not on 1 game but over time we can see how the players manage there rolls in the team are they showing a understanding of what needs to be done when they look at the scoreboard, point incase why did on the last ball of the 16 th over I believe did Russell and Akeal take a single to give Akeal the strike only then to try to steal a single on the first ball of the next over to have Russell run himself out when they should have refused the run and Russell would have control of the game it is these little things that players must be aware of , why did Powell felt he needed to bowl Akeal 3 overs on the trot when he clearly was not having an impact, and when Russell came on and took two wickets wasn't that a clue that he needed to bowl his best fast bowler, there comes a time that you must use the best you have for the rolls you select them for loose with your best if you must Chase was selceted for his dual roll but turned out to be very good and I am no Chase fan, I believe you pick Hetty on that big a game you play him even ahead of Mayers, we can do with a make shift opener for one game ask Sunil Narine who open the batting do any of you believe that Powell and Sammy would do that I argue not Cricket is a thinking game and you need Talent and performance to be manage by thinkers.

@@PeterGroff-bw2hv buddy since rovman took over captaincy I've yet to see him bowl an over.. hi didn't contribute in that particular game with bat, but alot of guys didn't either the game before that he batted well, say what you want about his batting etc but the records and series wins windies have had since taking over shows he's been doing his job as a captain

None of the teams is not making any big scores, because the pitches them is poorly prepared. I heard a of people is talking about dots balls,all the teams does struggling to make runs. So I heard the wi spectators them is talking about, the amount of dots balls. If the bowlers them is bowling really good, only special gifted players them can make runs. Most of the top teams already gone home, that is to tell you guys something. That the pitches is poorly prepared and,it is very difficult to bat on, that is the bottom line of it,ok.
