Great video! Have you noticed any challenges with your safe being in the garage? I am going back and forth between getting this safe and either installing in my garage or inside my home. People have been telling me to not leave it in the garage as its not temperature controlled and the humidity in the south. Maybe the golden rod negates it?

I didn’t mention it in this video but I put a weather stripping on the inside of the door to help seal it. And my golden rod is oversized for the size of this safe. The humidity of my safe is below 50% year round. My garage doesn’t get below 50 degrees in winter either so overall it has worked out good for me, but I do understand the reluctance to put one in a garage but when done correctly I think it is just fine. Great video + info. Thank you. I have a few, possibly weird, questions I hope you can answer. Are the brackets on the bottom pre installed ? How is the safe packaged, specifically on the bottom ? Is there a pallet or anything on the bottom besides cardboard ? Reason being, is, I will be moving it by myself, via a dolly. And putting it in a closet on one side, that barely fits it..... With an inch or two to spare on the sides. + The room and closet are carpeted. It's a raised floor, so I'll have to brace/support under were it sits, + maybe the 8x8 area I will be moving it in place from. My thought was to dolly it in, as close as possible, + try to slide it in, hopefully just the last 2 feet, if I'm lucky, ??????, maybe on a piece of cardboard, or, ...??????. I'm only 5'6, but 200lbs 🥺, + pretty strong like a 🤪 gorilla. 😅😅😅 But I want to do it the easiest way, + kinda the faster way due to me being 46 and moving it into a 75 year old house with raised floors. Not sure if I'm overthinking the 375-400lbs or not. ???? You think it would be easier to slide with or without the brackets ? Sorry for being long winded...... I have wanted a big safe for years, and will get one this year. 😁 So, this will be my 1st real safe for all intents + purposes. Saw this one online at the same place for $500, and then saw your video...... Thanks ahead of time for any info or suggestions you might have. I would really appreciate it. 👍👍👍👍

Hey so the bracket on the bottom did come installed on there and like I said in the video I think it does make it easier to move. There was no cardboard/pallet or anything like that for me. I moved my safe by myself a few times and just slid it off the truck and used an appliance dolly to move it around where I wanted it. Best thing to do is slide it back and forth to get it into place but if your closet is that tight you might not be able shimmy it back and forth to slide it into place so in that case (especially if it’s carpeted) I might recommend taking the brackets off and putting large furniture sliders on and trying to slide it straight into where you want it. Might be common sense but push towards the bottom too when it’s standing upright. It’s no easy task alone but it’s doable with this safe ! I hope this helps ya and it goes good for you. This is an awesome safe IMO

How did you get the wiring for the lights inside? I thought the safe was supposed to have a plug on the back for lights or a dehumidifier, but mine doesn't. It DID have the 3rd key where you said though! Thanks for the vid!!

There was no plug that came with my safe - like I mentioned in the video there is a pre drilled hole in the steel I used to guide me to drill a hole in the “drywall layer” of the safe to put a low profile safe plug into the safe itself for lights and a dehumidifier. I did another video on my safe upgrades for a little more detail. Check it out if your interested. I’m glad yours had the key that’s great!

Picked this model up recently and it's hands down the best bang for your buck. Really is a solid safe and full of futures that units several hundred dollars more offer.

@@FrankChristopherOutdoors nice! Thank you for replying so fast. I’m actually going to tractor supply later tonight to pick mine up. The electronic lock has a 2 year warranty. I wonder how much it would be to repair or replace if it went out after the 2 year warranty.

Did you know that the Winchester safe comes with a hidden 3rd key. I was running led light strips behind the Inside framework and at the top right hand corner above the top hinge where the inner frame makes a 90deg turn i felt a small zip-lock bag taped on with a single spare key hidden away from view. I didn't know if it was a fluke so i called 2 friends with Winchester safes from Tractor Supply & they found a hidden key in the same location. So in all reality they give you 3 spare keys in the event of an electronic keypad failure.

Hi Frank could you please advise me which Lite Kit, Dehumidifier you purchased and if used any special electrical receptacle on the inside to wire the electric in to the safe. I am in the process of buying this safe from Tractor now (699) and wanted to make sure that i out fit with any additional accessories necessary to accomodate my ultimate use of the safe. many thanks Dominick

I don’t believe the door comes off. Do you have an appliance dolly? I have moved it alone with an appliance dolly but it is challenging. The safe weighs around 385 lbs when it’s empty but it’s somewhat manageable. If you had one other person and an appliance dolly id say you are good .

Thanks so much for taking the time to answer, it is extremely helpful. I do not have an appliance dolly but I do have a hand truck and I will be sure to have some helping hands with me. This review is quite helpful because if you read the negative reviews on the Tractor Supply website, the safe is garbage the lock is garbage so don't buy it.

@@jbaccell I have never had a problem with the lock. I would think you could get a replacement pretty easily online if need be. And also it might be covered by a warranty for a year or so. IMO it’s been a great safe for me ! Best safe for the price

Picked it up today from Tractor Supply. My son-in-law and I were able to wrestle it up the steps but it's a heavy bastard. I like it very much and so glad I came across your video which convinced me to purchase it.@@FrankChristopherOutdoors

I hate to burst bubbles but my Winchester TS26-46 suffered a keypad failure after approximately 2 years of ownership. The safe will not manually lock with a key either. Any advice would be greatly appreciated guys, thanks a lot

I’d reach out to Winchester and see if they can send you a new keypad ….the key not working is very odd to me? Did it ever work? Have you tried both keys ?

Thanks for the fast reply, appreciate that. Yes, the safe functioned perfectly for about 2 years. Then one day about a year ago I went to open the safe, entered my pin, and the safe would not open. I retrieved the key and opened the safe manually, and ever since, it has never locked again. I replaced the battery immediately after this happened but no luck. I’ll contact Winchester tomorrow and hopefully follow up on this comment with any info I get in case anybody else has a similar issue

@@BalPlaya what if you didn’t register the warranty? I didn’t and afraid I’m screwed. Also, that lifetime warranty may exclude the digital keypad

If there are holes in the safe, then how is it fire resistant for 45 mins? The surrounding heat will end up in the safe, and burn your documents.

You’d have to call the manufacturer for that exact answer but I’d guess that the small hole for power is so tiny it’s probably negligible when it comes to the fire rating being compromised.

Just bought one of these from Tractor Supply and can not for the life of me change the code from the factory default! Do just like the manual says, step by step, and can not get it to work. Default code works every time, just can't get it to change. Any ideas?

Hmm that’s weird - you’ve tried disconnecting a reconnecting the battery? Have you tried to give it to someone else to do just in case you’re missing something obvious? You could try calling Winchester and see if they’ll send you a new one to replace your bad one. I think they have a 1 year warranty.

I had to get my wife to change my code it worked when she did it. Try a woman’s touch 😂😂. I did it step by step 3-4 times didn’t work for me the first time she did it it worked. 😂😂

Have u had any problems with the locking mechanism. Winchester only covers it for 2 years on that model. Sports Afield has one at sams club that offers lifetime on all parts. So Im not to confident in winchesters warrenty.

@@DreMoney831 based on my experience I’d go with the Winchester, especially if you can get one for 450$. The sports a field is more money but sounds like it comes with light kit already and better warranty and a flood rating. Just depends on your preference overall probably can’t go wrong either way. The parts warranty is nice but you still have to do the work yourself and I don’t know how often something goes wrong with the locking mechanism.

@FrankChristopherOutdoors I was thinking the same thing. The winchester is currently $499.00 on sale. The sports afield is $599.00 on sale. Same dimentions. Do u think based on those numbers the sports afield is better purchase considering the light kit and flood rating. Also fire rating is 75 min vs 45. They also will send out a lock smith if you were to ever get locked out. Whats kinda making it hard for me to choose as I have not seen the sports afield in person. The winchester is very nice.

That’s probably what I would do because of what you’re getting overall, I really like having lights in mine and it looks likegood quality . If you could go see one in person I’d say that would help make your decison. Let me know which one you get and if you like it
