Something made me thinking, why there is no fuse on the volts jack? Because there is a fuse on the current jack.

Another thought, im guessing meters that fall short like this no matter how flashy will never outsell even a good basic cheap meter like the Aneng 8000 series. Even with its tiny fuses, poor stand and other minor flaws those meters have sold like gold because they are affordable but THEY WORK and offer good value for the money to those who cannot afford or dont need a high end meter. Once again, success requires it be a contender not a pretender.

Hi Darren, indeed a very good Review and ordered it after that... After I received, I am facing 2 issues.. 1st one is its not showing Direction of AC Voltage I.e + or -, How I'll know which is live wire or which is Ground, its only showing total voltage.. I don't want to use NCV to check direction because its not always convenient to check using NCV Secondly, I can't figure how to switch on Back light of this meter

@@KeepOnTesting all of those brands are distributor's brands. Including aneng, zotek, zoyi, richmeter etc. they all are produced in the same factory I think. it's also happens with cordless drill from China. There's a lot of different brands with the same product. If you look at AliExpress/Alibaba there's also unreadable Chinese brands, which is more cheaper than the brands intended for outside china.

@@vento765 Not quite, Zotek is an OEM..yes alot of other dmms are rebrands but some non OEMs still try to put their own mark on the meter to make it unique or more useful. It's a great time to buy a multimeter..never before has their been so many choices in the electronics testing arena!

Considering it's a Chinese. You maybe just unlucky. They forgot to solder some components on it. The one who solder it probably a teenager who got paid a few cents for it. I wouldn't surprised if all of those meters that come from China is build in one giant factory. They don't care about the distributions, they just produce the meters. Other companies who distribute it just pick it up and slap their own brand on it. That's explain many different brand on one identical product.

Well you cant blame the design itself for being badly soldered thats poor assembly, but it still takes away from a design with some potential thats still not quite what it could be, you want to like meters like this sometimes but not just parts of it. If the rest of the meter performed like the LED test it would be a winner. Im sure they love selling these auto/hybrid type meters that allow removing the range switch and other items to simplify and lower the production cost even further - but if anyone in Asia is listening - its supposed to be a precision test instrument not a fisher price toy and IT HAS TO WORK CORRECTLY to drive sales-! A gimmick alone cannot draw and keep the public coming back, even the gimmicks have to work such as NCV, and so many meters out there have lousy NCV, come one engineers the human race landed on the moon 50 years ago so making an auto meter work should be a piece of cake. Sad to see such mediocre results because as you said the earlier standard designs of this type meter were very decent, I have two Mustool versions of it and like them both very much. Lets see if they listen and issue another improved revision, if done right that could make this one a sales winner, but a bad first showing and repeated results like this have soured me on most auto range type designs. It needs to be a contender instead of a pretender-!

Yes the addage that something new must be something great is a definite misnomer. Revolutionary can be truly for the best but then it can also be a step backwards. Let's hope as you say that WinApex is listening and truly improves upon their design.

Yep, and we both know theres no real reason this design shouldnt work, ive seen this kind of thing in the factory where I used to work. They often rush it into production to cap development costs and start seeing a sales return ASAP, its all about seeing immediate profit above all and too often the upper echelon bean counters control this and dont care about product quality as much as sales quantity. Its an old story and the product usually suffers followed by anyone that buys it.
