In the UK it rains enough to fill local open reservoirs. In many towns in hot places they need enclosed water storage to stop it evaporating away completely.

@@shawnbenning3852In the US it's to create water pressure. You'll see them in places that are fairly flat. They pump water up there and gravity creates enough pressure to supply high pressure water to the entire town.

And of course the height matters, water is pumped into the towers during non-peak hours so the tower can compensate for peak hours. If there were no towers the pressure would drop dramatically when everyone got in the shower in the morning.

@@shawnbenning3852 If you don't have "city" water, you have your own well & pump - water pressure is usually no more than 30 PSI - City water can be 90 - 100 PSI - it REALLY helps with the low-flow fixtures that everybody seems to be required to use now. I unfortunately am NOT on "city" water, so sometimes the flow from the taps seems pretty low.

The weird martian war machine towers are more about maintaining pressure than supply.....hence you see them all over the huge flat areas of the US. We do have them in the UK, but they're rare, more common is a small local reservoir or big tank, on high ground, which ARE supply buffers but do the job of keeping pressure up too as a by product. I used to live right at the coast with big hills all around......tap pressure was INSANE.

As someone who ate 4 deep fried oreos at a state fair and then sat in a back alley area of the fair for like 2 hours trying not to vomit or go into cardiac arrest, props to you for this.

I don't care much about the topic, eating as much as possible, yadda yadda, but Mr. Beard is always so friendly and upbeat that even though he's up to shennanigans he's still so fun and friendly to the staff and other patrons. This is how everybody should act when out in public, just be nice.

So much to say. Knew instantly 36 Oreos was light work. Even the 61 seemed easy. There’s a chance you could have beaten both records in 1 day. Was hoping you’d get a burger as dessert at least lol definitely go back and smash that burger record!

"Fun Fact' - Jack Brown's is a local chain here in the South (most are in VA, then TN and NC). The food menu at Jack Brown's is well Limited. There are only 3 items to choose from: Burgers (which there are about 10 to 15), Fries (Sweet Potato or Regular) and Deep Fried Oreos.

I just sat down with regular oreos. I started feeling sick after 10. You are an eating machine!

Yeah, I had deep fried Oreos once, and they had me wondering if they’re healthier than normal Oreos. Reason being it’s so freaking easy to binge a whole freaking tub of Oreos during a bad day, but those deep fried are so freaking rich, it’s so hard to force yourself through more than a few.

I grew up right outside of Murfreesboro. Couldn't believe you made it all the way this deep south, glad to have you brother!

Clearly you didn't need the dessert menu this time, but flipping the script and asking for a cheeseburger afterward would've been hilarious 😅 I can't believe you weren't feeling sick after all that! I can barely handle a deep-fried Milky Way at the fair each summer!

That is the only desert available at Jack Brown's restaurants (known as: joints). The food menu is compromised of strictly 3 basic items: burgers [10 to 15 different burgers], fries and fried oreos.

Sitting at this jack browns right now, and made me remeber this video! Its awesome to see someone i watch from across the pond wind up right down the street from home. You make me want to try the oreos, but the burgers are hard to beat!
