Deleting my social media was the best thing I've ever done for my mental health, so no insta, no regrets. I'd love to be the custodian of something that's been passed down through the ages like that book. There's an inherent magic in the fact that it survived

Yep. Same. Wish that commenting here on KZread counted.
FWIW - if you want to enter the drawing and support the channel, Patreon supporters have access to a discount code for the new book shop. wink wink, nudge nudge.
It would be lovely if you also offer inexpensive reprints of the more expensive originals. I’m a nun with little money to spare, but I have a great interest in the subject matter of Esoterica.

Everything should be digitized and publicly available, for everyone forever.

They all have to be in the public domain at this point. Copying them and putting a good binding on them would be pretty interesting. $3000 for a book is a stretch for most people, but if they could copy it and sell idk $80 bound copies of it... anyway this website is going to be bad for me. I'm already looking at that $900 polygamy book and my wallet is itching XD
My work as a bookbinder took to into some of the most impressive rare book collections around the UK. Private and public. Back at the end of 2019 I was fortunate enough to be working in the New College Library in Edinburgh. We were preparing for their collection to be moved off site for renovations. Deep in their archives were some of the oldest books I have ever had the privilege to work on. The oldest I found was 1415. They housed a lot of the King James literature, including an original Daemonologie... amongst other things. Most of which were in very good condition considering their age. Those books held a certain presence, as if they were waiting to be opened. I can only imagine the secrets they could tell.
My daughter and I just got into a discussion yesterday about my collection of books. I told her that when I die, do not get rid of them because ma y are collector's or first editions ( none like yours unfortunately) ,but she remarked that nobody would want them. I said how excited I would have been if my great grandmother etal. had left me such treasures. Thankfully, my other daughter overheard this, cam downstairs and announced she would not let anyone touch my books as she had the same desire although she does not read...she said their is a Japanese term for this...one who collects books ,but does not read them. My oldest is only late 1800s, but for me there is nothing sweeter than the age and the subject of your book collections. 😊
Alas, I do not instagram, but I am a book-loving fool and just the thought of the smell of an old book brings me great pleasure. Thanks for launching the site!
I cannot congratulate you enough; this is a wonderful undertaking dear Justin! Long live Esoterica and everything related!
Congratulations Dr. Sledge. Very excited for this new venture. May it prosper with tremendous Mazal.
Wow! Thanks for everything you do! It’s always good to hear someone talk about these wonderful subjects with clarity! And now this most fantastic book store! Again, “Wow”!!! I appreciate you! Peace!!!
Here, every teaching is a key that opens doors to unknown realms, offering profound insights and celestial revelations.
A miserable day to not have social media, and doubly miserable to be saving for a trip! As much as I've wanted to accrue a library of antique texts, finding a book dealer that I put any level of trust in without diving headlong into the nuances of the medium in the way I've done with numismatics is tedious beyond measure. I trust you though Doc, I expect if this project sticks around for any length of time you'll end up getting an uncomfortable amount of my earnings as I have a genuine problem controlling my thirst to expand my library. This is incredibly exciting and I hope it takes off for you so you have another means of funding Esoterica, it's almost poetic to fund Esoterica with esoteric books.
A 300 year old book like this would be a great cornerstone for beginning my own rare book collection. Congrats on the launch of your store 🎉
Found this channel about a year ago, and it quickly became one of my most watched channels, i have always just found the topics you cover very interesting, but difficult to get into until infound this channel. Keep up the good work!
Good for you Doc. Old books have a magic of their own.
A 300 year old book like this would be a great cornerstone for beginning my own rare book collection. ❤ Congratulations on the launch of your store. I’ll be keeping an eye on it and your Instagram page moving forward.
I recently started my journey into studying and practicing witchcraft and one of the most enticing things about this world is the hidden history behind it. And the stories behind antiquated items is something that interests me even more. Yo have this book would be an amazing gift to say the least
I love that you bring light to this old books, that may be not apprechiated otherwise in our fast paced modern world. I started collecting antique/old books a few years ago, my oldest volume yet is a copy of the Illiad from 1839, so nothing in comparison. I just love that one can hold such a piece of history in hand, wondering how many others have read in it before.
Wining a book like this would be incredible. I have always been interested in theism and the like since I was young. Thought of holding a piece of history in my hands that I could share with my family and others who share a passion for the history of it and mysticism is quite exciting. Congratulations on the store! I can’t wait to check it out.
What a fun idea! Yup, no Instagram here, and I'm lazy enough that the comments are easier than the site. But I must say that in all my time on KZread, I've not found a channel so humble and simultaneously so dense in content. Absolutely phenomenal channel, can't believe information like this is just free to the public. Thanks for all you do, and anyone else who might be involved.
I would love to hold that piece of history. Thank you Dr. Sledge for your work on the channel. Keep the videos coming!
Also my first comment, but your work has inspired me to dig deeper into my love for esoterica, and this would be a fantastic addition to me ever expanding personal library
"I won an ancient book of mysticism online" sounds like the title of a creepypasta
I'll explain why i want that book in my hands. The more an object is ancient, the more full of charm it is. Being able to keep it in your hands thinking to, that he survived many hands and distant eras, or that many minds have studied it, or even think of the emotions of those who possessed it before me, it gives me a thrill to the spine. Considering that, in the past the books were precious objects, they are to be dealt with with the same respect, there is a responsibility, in compliance with those who preceded us and those who will follow us. It's necessary to keep it and use it adequately. To then give it some of that energy for posterity, which will come into contact with this object, and which hopefully the same philosophy are equally. In short, the time gives an object, a particular energy, more ancient is, the more full of this energy. Moreover, the topic interests me very much, we never stop learning. Thanks
The photos of books in your shop are Teriffic. I love to see the slightly slouched covers, so organic, like aged friends 🖤
Really appreciate you not requiring social media, though definitely good for getting your name out. I love old books, though find it difficult to afford them. Your collection has me reconsidering
Im not an Instagram user but, im a young researcher, searching and learning mostly about NRM. Although i have left behind your research field as you present it on this channel, i always remember that my research love begun with the Dead Sea Scrolls, Kabalah etc. As I understand, many NRM are inspired from the stuff you re presenting through your channel. Thank you for giving us the chance on winning this book 😊
This would be a eonderful start to a hostoric esoteric collection! Thank you for doing this giveaway and the education youve provided for years now.
You're not wrong. Currently, I'm reading through the Ars Goetia/Lesser Key of Solomon for the first time. I think this channel is just so cool and fun and has rekindled my love of this subject matter with every new video :) you rock, Doc!

also, I bet that book smells amazing
Winning this draw would substantially improve my current book collection. Love the channel, your reading lists are invaluable.
Thank you for your beautiful work all these years first of all and good luck with the new launch. I am currently studying to become a psychologist, aiming to focus on meaning and existentialism. I've been a bookworm my whole life, I got into it by getting lost into my father's library at a young age, a book like this would be a nice addition to my reading list as well as my dream library that I hope I can build and pass down as well some day.
AMAZING. Just like you my fascination with the esoteric started with old books and DnD. I ended becoming a practitioner instead of a scholar but to me we are on the same team on the path to Gnosis.
I'm new to the channel, but already fell in love with it. Thanks 😊😊😊
Raised by multi-generational bibliophiles: the touch of Primary source Old & Rare books a Blessing; for whomever finds this Book in their hands.
I don’t have any form of social media; but I’d like to throw my hat into the ring. I collect rare, vintage horror books. I have an entire digital library of occult/esoteric books; but owning a physical copy of something that old would make my head explode.
I'm currently actively following antique book auctions to eventually buy my own historical esoteric book. I'd also like to use the books to study up on my knowledge of foreign languages, especially Latin. Anyway, since your channel was the one introducing me to this wild ride of a topic, it would be fitting to recieve my first antique book from you. Congratulations in advance to the lucky winner 👍
As I don't have IG I leave this here. Being able to study such a priceless book would be a dream come true. Btw ty for all the content!
I Love what you do you have been a big part of inspiring me to continue my research and study and I would love to share this book with my son along with watching your videos together thank you Justin for everything that you do
I would love to put that book in my library. Thanks for making your videos. Your book store will do great!
Thank you Dr Sledge for your work always impressive
I have always drooled (safely) over antique books and have been dying to start a collection of my own. I would love it if this book could be the first! It's so kind of you to do a giveaway 🐝
Recently found your channel and love your work! Would love to have that book, but love even more thya this channel exists! Keep it up!
Congratulations, Dr. Sledge, fantastic news and a lovely selection! Such a pleasant experience go through the photos and appreciate the small details, especially when I rarely see books other than early 1900s American encyclopedias in my local “antique“ shops. And well worth spending the money on one of these beauties, rather than a lot of things in the price range I can think of (looking at you, mobile phones with 56 cameras). I know where my next purchase will be from. The marginalia makes this Theosophia so much more special - I’m dying to read it - the added history and context it gives to the copy is even more alluring than the age for me, although to quote you - the older the better… If I got my hands on it, I’d probably lose unreasonable amount of sleep worshiping, examining and studying it in parallel with a translated edition. It’s my favorite pastime to read two different (edition, translation, language) versions side by side, it's such a rich way to learn more about the book (and *teach yourself some Latin). I’m doing just that lately with Agrippa’s De vanitate (Latin vs English) - reading Prof. Nauert’s Crisis of the Renaissance Thought (after your recent, and excellent recommendation) re-sparked my obsession. Been entranced with the occult, esoterica, and particularly alchemy since a ’99 visit to Prague, and routinely spent my scholarship on any related book I could get my hands on in high-school. These days it seems, I’m fully experiencing my own Crisis of Thought, or how to free more time to dig into 16th-17th century manuscript scans. I'd probably become full on hermit or just die of pure bliss if I have a physical one in my hands. Thank you for sharing all that precious knowledge! p.s. You successfully had me reinstall that one app on my phone before the video was over, after not using it for years. This is my second comment ever on YT, and I’ve been around for more than 15 years. Never in my life have I entered a single giveaway, yet I am compelled by that little treasure. That automatically makes you a true alchemist. (Rubedo achieved)
I appreciate that you have non-Instagram options! I love old books, but I have no money lol. I spend a lot of my time reading bad PDF scans of old books, so it would be cool to actually have one!
I have an instagram that I never use, but I logged in to follow your new page. Love your channel and old books too!
I would love to get my small hands on this book because I love not only having a time piece on a magick system that i draw a lot of inspiration from just in my own craft, but also i dabble a lot in shadow working with the past. Its validating knowing the evolution of something that used to be extremely abstract while also being a part of a long lineage of history .
Congrats on the launch! Hope one day I get one of your books in my collection :)
I would love to crack open such a doorway as that book and gaze through a window to that world.
I just discovered this channel, and it's treasure.
I used Porta as an NPC in my old Mage WoD game I ran for a decade. Fascinating guy straddling art, science, and magic. Would love to have a book like these as a prop for a game and to displace my overflowing bookshelves. I started loving old books when I saw my grandfather's library for the first time.
I would love to get that book. I've been delving into Theosophy lately, as an adjunct to my studies of Hermetics, and this seems right up my alley.
A natural thing for you to do! I have been extremely inspired by your channel, and look forward to more. Don't necessarily need the book, thought I'd never say no, just want to aid the algorithm for your new endeavour.
Your whole channel's content is fantastic, thanks to you I finally had a direction when it comes to reading Alchemy stuff, so I really appreciate that. So, it would be pretty nice if I had the chance of winning such a precious book, and delve a little bit more in other areas of knowledge as well. And well, my interest was mostly picked up by medieval-related stuff, such as games and books (D&D is also so good, haha) So... thanks for the opportunity!
Good lord!! How have you acquired such amazing works?! Drooling
Avid collector of rare and occult books. It’s what brought me to your channel years ago. Very excited!
i just wish you would explore the books with us page by page book by book lol! Its no fun just having it without knowing whats going on; i find it so engaging on your channel! Wish there were classes and courses that do just that
I would love to own this book, it would be an incredible start to a collection
I would love to win the book. Not for myself, but for my mother in law. Her passion is learning, teaching and writing about esoteric mysticism, like magic, tarot, witchcraft, occultism and horoscopes. I have a great personal interest in spirituality as well, but have dove more so into eastern practices, such as buddhism and advaita vedanta. Talking about western esoteric topics and spirituality in general has brought us closer together, which I'm grateful for. It would be amazing to gift her this book, that I know she will love, in order to show my gratitude for her wisdom and love. I Have no Instagram, nor much money to spare, so I'll just leave a post over here. Thanks for all your great videos and allowing me to learn more about esoteric mysticism!
Wonderful, how exciting! Best to you with antiquated esoteric book sales, as your presence/visibility is expanded… Looking forward to seeing your IG posts!
I just want to let you know that your work ist very inspiring. Thanks to the Esoterica videos I started taking my interest in weird and old books more serious and to actively look through the antiques section of second hand book shops. Also these videos have inspired me to design my first real LARP character for Vampire: the Maquerade as an amateur student of the occult who got picked up by someone who knows "the real deal" and I'm stoked to have another reason to further explore and learn about esoteric literature in the tracks of this character who will definitely be sporting Esoterica merchandise (even though I have yet to decide which design exactly).
Thank you for your channel. Blessings on your new store. This is me throwing my hat into the ring concerning the book giveaway. I would be honored to be its next custodian.
Thank you Dr Sledge for Esoterica, your work in the arcane in history, philosophy, and religion. I don't have an Instagram account so here is my comment. I love reading, particularly old books. They do have the power to take one back in time. Mysticism and the Occult are the most interesting subjects to me. I've studied Christian mysticism casually for many years on my own and have watched a lot on Crowley, read the Book of the Law, material on witchcraft and Wicca in general. I'm also interested in Jacob Boehme. The old, the antique, the ancient, the occult, and the esoteric has always been attractive, bewildering, startling, and beautiful to some degree. Esoterica is fascinating because of the work at unifying the imagination, the heart, the mind, and the will through the combination of the natural and the supernatural. It inspires creativity in poetry, music, and art even for those like myself who do not practice the occult arts, but enjoy learning about and sharing such knowledge with others. Blessings and peace to you and yours.
As a Rosicrucian who studies esoteric subjects and who also collects antique books, I would like to congratulate you on your new venture. Consider this comment as my entry for the competition as well. 👍🏻
When I was 14, I began a journey that changed my life forever. I started collecting old books and teaching myself antique languages through eBay treasures. Each book was a portal to the past, sparking my imagination and deepening my love for history. Tragically, when I was 20, a burst pipe during a cold spell destroyed my entire collection while they were stored in boxes for a move. Now, as a high school World History teacher, I strive to ignite the same passion for history in my students. Showing them an old book like this one would be more than just a teaching aid-it would be a testament to the enduring power of knowledge and a personal dream come full circle. Winning this book would allow me to share a tangible piece of history with my students, helping them fall in love with the rich tapestry of our past just as I did.
Gave a follow, I am soo excited for this bookshop of yours. Thank you for the job you do!
TY Dr Sledge for the opportunity at this free book! The education you provide us here, for free, is very much appreciated.🤘🏻
Great idea! I'd love to be considered, and I hope whoever wins this preserves it as well as it has been so far ❤
Congrats on the bookstore launch!
Wow first time looking into the library. Subscribed
That seems like a great book to have and I know it would give me more knowledge and a better understanding of my lost history. 📚💪🏾
Congratulations on the venture, the books look like a great collection.
I'll throw my sorcerer's hat in the ring. A friend of mine is heavily into magic and esotericism, so I'd love to gift him this volume
Just followed! I'd be so stoked to own a book like that, defo going to check out the site, I grew up as a J-witness though my Mum was Jewish and my Dad a catholic prior to me being born, but I was always told to stay away from occult things however it only just pushed me into wondering why, it intriugued me. Several years down the line thanks to you Dr Sledge I'm very much into this stuff, though Jewish mysticism i find particularly interesting! Also fun fact I used to live near where aliester crowly grew up in Leamington, England!
I have always been in the search or something more and that search has brought me to you. Love the content never stop.
Congratulations on the opening the Esoteric bookshop
I LOVE LOVE old books and look forward to having my own shop in the future. Something extra magical about an ancient magical/esoteric book that survived centuries to make it to my hands/mind. So glad you get to explore this and combine things you love. Thank yo for your channel content too, I've been enjoying it.
Yes, I would like the book that tells me where to find the treasure so I can afford to purchase more occult books.

Congrats on your new bookstore. Quite a selection you have there. Just the smell of antique book pages can take you back.......❤
This is amazing. Not sure when and if I'll be able to afford any of the books in the store, though. That Ars Notoria purchase from your library list was a hard enough monetary pill to swallow. Some day...
You might not do social media, but I do. Just posted this link on a friend's wall, with the simple caption, `Kid, meet candy store.'

IVE BEEN WONDERING HOW THERE ARE COMMENTS BEFORE THE VID CAME OUT ON MY END Now I know that it was a private video at first
Would love to have a book that would- frankly- be the first and only book in what i hope will become a beautiful collection of esoteric knowledge!
ESOTERICA! I'm a massive fan. I dont have social media and I dont think I have ever submitted my name for any sort of giveaway.. until today. This book looks incredible. I'm a poor college student, but I spend any money I come into on books. Many of them in the category of the occult so I am sure I will be helping your new business for years to come!! The reasons I want to win this book are too many to name. It would undoubtedly be in good hands though, I can promise that! Congratulations on the launch!!!
Looks like a wonderful volume that would be a welcome addition to any collection… or start to a collection, as it would be in my case.
beautiful books! so excited to check out the site!
Just signed up for IG for this but not sure if my post there worked, i dont see it. So also posting here. Only found your channel a few months ago but have had a great time. My best friend( he has a history degree and is a published authour, i am merely a dilettante) and I often spend weekends traveling the south coast of NSW going to various charity shops and other Op Shops (not sure thats just Aussie slang) looking for old books. My treasured possesion that i found is all volumes, first edition of Churchill's: The World in Crisis 1911-1918. (Only cost me $60, which is great as I can't afford actual book store prices for these things) This book is almost 3 times its age, and as much as I'd love to have it on my bookshelf, I really want it as a surprise to my friend who would be over the moon (not to mention he has the resources to look after and preserve it a bit better than i do). I've had a bit of a year, and he's been there for me the whole time. Anyway, I really enjoy your channel, keep it up, man. Your ability to synthesise your dedication to faith and dedication to good history is staggering to me. You found a way to square that circle that i often feel is impossible. keep up the good work.
Love your work, I may not be able to support you as currently I need to save up dollars but know that the work you do is always appreciated!
Happy Friday everyone! I really enjoy this channel.
Dr. Sledge, as a 53 year old ‘rags to lil nicer rags’ Native American lady… I would love to acquire such treasure as that book of yours. The oldest book in my ‘collection’ (and I use ‘collection’ loosely) is a huge 1970 kjv Bible that I bought at a garage sale. Which, if I had to downsize all my junk… that 1970 huge bible would not be tossed out. I truly don’t deserve to be entered in your giveaway, considering I wouldn’t take time to translate all of it (only the most eye catching parts). Anyway, I like old stuff - that’s probably why I like watching your videos. I especially enjoyed the time you opened the old bottle of liquor. 🌸Oh to be such cultivated🌸 …but if I was to win anything… 👉 I’d want to win those little medal hands that keep your old books open 🫱📖🫲
Keep up the great work!
Congratulations on your book shop ✨️🙂✨️
Love this channel, love old books, I have some. I hope your store thrives and, with some time, I can become a patron too!
Heck yeah! Congrats on the book store and i hope it does well for you both. i would absolutely love to get my hands on this book so...I'm crossing my fingers!!!
This is awesome! I’ve been meaning to start collecting, and now I know where to look first! 😁
I absolutely love your channel it has helped me greatly in my religious and a cult studies. I do not have an Instagram and so am commenting here for a shot at that book. I can promise you it would be cared for and respected as it should in my humble library. Thank you for the opportunity to obtain such a beautiful piece. And I will most definitely check out your book shop.
As always, I can't help but try to be part of this. Newer to the rare, occult book world.
It's worth checking out The book Tree in San Diegoo. They sell original reprints of certain historical works. 18th and 19th century at least .
This is so cool! Hell yeah!
I need this, one can only ponder their orb for so long
I would like to own the book as it is almost a living participant of history, touched by so many hands, and imparting its touch on everyone who have touched it before.
I don't have Instagram or other social media (if you don't count this KZread account), although I can see why You would have it, with having to promote Your channel, Esoterica. For me, books was my very first love (due to a not very fun childhood, it was truely wonderful, when I grasped that I could find friendship and company in books), and they have been with me since I started to read, some 45+ years ago. Even though I today find myself, having to seek information and knowledge both online, and in the reading app in my tablet, it's still as exciting and sometimes even breathtaking, to look in old books, that have survived the march of time. (I'll never forget the first time I saw "The Devils Bible" in Stockholm...). To have this 300 old year book on my shelf and in my hand, wouldn't be something I would use to 'show off' to people; I'd treasure it for both its inner work, and the craftmanship that it took to print and create it.
