    Hanging is a whole lot different than lifting... it's usually the smaller guys who do well at hanging, not so much for the big muscular guys though... I hope Joey surprises me and beats the clock...

    If you can bench 410 at any time of your life, you'll always be able to do 225 regardless if you still lift or not

    @@prithvisukka9271 Close is easier on shoulders for long limbed people. Warm up well if you’re going to go wider or you could wind up with a stress reaction in the AC joint. Takes forever to heal.

So many peoples arms were shaking so hard just holding the weight they claimed they could do. No you can’t do your max every time but you can at least look like you lift within 25 pounds of what you are currently attempting.

    The 2 strongest 14 year olds at Bench I've ever seen were in my class. Phillip Reynia, who weighed 190lbs bench pressed 355 lbs at age 14 yrs 5 months, and Randall Whit, my other friend, he hit 335 lbs at body weight 180lbs and 14 yrs 3 months old. Who's the strongest boy you've ever seen?

    This video was great to see. Really puts strength in perspective. With all these fitness influencers bench 3 plates plus, I was feeling hella weak with a PR of 2 plates but looks like 2 plates is on average too heavy for the average joe like me. Great stuff, Nick 💪

    @@herrar6595 But if you lift regularly you still do different chest exercises that will affect your max bench though, like for instance i didnt bench for 6 months, all i did was dumbells incline bench and cables. When i tried benching again i had gone from a 175 to 185, so while that's not a huge progress in 6 months it's still progress in benchpress regardless of not benching once.

    That's always a good initial goal. You can build more strength by doing slow eccentrics/pause reps, lockouts, negatives, weighted dips, strict OHP and push press, etc..All of it has carry over. 👍

    @@elitestar I don't know about powerlifting. I know that I work out religiously, and after burning myself out on a body part, all other body parts feel weaker until I have a long rest. Nobody is setting PR's doing bench after a full lower body workout, that's not how our physiology works. Your whole system pours resources into whatever your pushing, and while the muscle fibers in unused parts aren't then torn, the energy system of the body is still taxed.

    Nice to see that most people were being pretty honest. It's's just that some folks didn't really know where their limits were. But really, a lot of people were actually aiming for their absolute max, and if you don't hit that just right you won't make it. So it's a tough challenge if done exactly as asked. Love this.

    Awesome video man. It really shows what achievable amongst the average population. I was starting to feel bad being able to accomplish slightly above 2 plates. Especially when I see athletes and influencers on social media pushing crazy weights. Hopefully one day I can reach 3 plates too.

    That’s what I’m thinking. If he’s adding 20 to that guy he should be adding to everyone else. And some people had to lift their PR even if they said they no longer could (like the marine). While others were allowed to lift less than their PR (Joey, Mr. “410”, and Gustav).

    Yeah, that's just because they diet harder so their muscles pop more, but they're clearly not as strong as they look. Notice the guy who looked "big" but not as ripped was the strongest one of all. That's typically the way it will be when it comes to the bench press. You can't really build a strong bench if you're in a calorie deficiency or just barely over maintenance. Unless you're on gear.

    ​@@goldytwatus1674 That makes sense for more advanced lifters, but not novice or intermediate. As you build muscle, you're going to increase strength if you're doing the compound lifts.

    It's not 135. That is either a 4ft curling bar, or an ez bar. Bar Weight is probably 20-25lbs.

    I'm 53 and work out once or twice a week, I weight 208 lbs at 5"11. I bench 225 3 or 4 reps usually depending on the day. I was feeling bad about myself as I haven't really progressed any over the past 6 months seeing the guys in the gym hit 315 but not so bad now after this video. I think we get a false sense of what is normal by only seeing the guys at the gym bench and not the average Joes. I started incline bench and doing 185 reps and I think that is helping my flat bench. Going to do 240 today and hopefully 250 next month :) Some day before I die, I want to hit 315....we'll see.

    When it comes to the average guy off the street, you are a freak. Only 0.01% of the males on earth can bench 315lbs. Sounds crazy because we see dudes hit that all the time, but that's just in the small bubble of fitness enthusiasts. It's actually very rare.

    @@maxxxmodelz4061 It's definitely a Baader-Meinhof phenomenon as I'm also wondering after 10 years of never hitting the gym, how I could hit 315lbs for a ORM.. and a good majority of players on my football team hit 315.. it seems insane that there are so few who do. Most of my buddies are massive, so 315 is almost like a standard.

    ​@@MrMonkeyTwinzHmm something isn't right. If you can hit 315 x 3, your max should be 340 or 345. I can hit 315 for 6 reps and my 1 rep max is 365.

    @@samk9632 trust me, you can get hurt from anything. Ive seen guys seriously injure their shoulders pressing half their max. I've hurt myself benching 225 even with a max of 300+. Especially without a rigorous warmup, benching over 300 can be extremely dangerous. Ultimately, they did say yes, so it's their responsibility, but I'd definitely try 300 for 300$, even though it's dangerous
