11 and 2 of them as player/coach. This why championship are only one factor in greatness. Lebron is the best to ever do it. 9 appearances in 10 years against the best teams to ever be assembled. What Wilt Chamberlain said about "they asked me to do other stuff, I stopped scoring and if I hadn't I could've averaged..." that is also exactly the same case for Dr J...they asked him to tone down his game for the 76ers which he willingly did but everybody who played with him or watched him play in the ABA all say he was way better/more dominant and could've done the same in the more slower watered down NBA which he did in spurts... Jordan was allowed to be Jordan when the league developed into a cash cow but Julius Ervings ABA game saved both leagues through the merger because everybody especially the NBA wanted to see him in the televised NBA where the money and more fans were...sucks that he and Wilt had to be asked not to be the dominant players that they were despite how much it benefited the league especially later on.

Who joined Currys Team after blowing a 3-1 lead to him, a 3-1 Lead that Bron came back from. Oh and it wasn't rigged, just because lebron won. That KD who joined a superteam? Or is it Curry who has 0 FMVPs? LeBron was the best player of the 2010s. And is still the best player in the world. And I'm a Bucks fan. He's top 3 All time, Behind MJ, and you could argue for Kareem, but your blind hate for LeBron isn't letting you see witness his greatness. Wilt was hands down the most dominant and overall greatest player all time. Jordan was the best talented player and probably the player that made the NBA the most popular in his time. I just honestly believe that the all time greats like Wilt, Russell and Kareem played, no players after could physically take the pace and beating they took and even finish the game. With that said, todays players are more shooting better and would never try and go to the paint to score. That’s my opinion.

Unstoppable in different ways though. Wilt had power, height, and size that Jordan simply didnt have. That allowed Wilt to post up and back anyone down. Jordan was unstoppable in a different way, with his speed and accuracy. I actually didn't like Jordan all that much while growing up, but as an adult I definitely see the argument for Jordan being GOAT... One of the major things I hadn't realized as a kid was that Jordan didn't really shoot 3 pointers. That says a lot to his skills and style of attacking the rim when he has such a high career PPG and FG% but got there with only 1/4 the amount of 3 pointers that Lebron James has.

I firmly believe Wilt was the best. He had the conditioning of a truely elite track and field athlete, could compete favorably in strength training against all but struck power lifters, and had to hold back on so many occasions to avoid hurting other players. The game changes with time, and while I think the playmaking strateg, footwork, and shooting skills of todays players is above where Wilt was in his time, those are learned skills that I have no doubt Wilt could also learn if he had been born half a century later. Wilt will probably always be the goat. There are only a few deserving consideration for the title, and Michael is on the list along side Labron. It is those two and Wilt. Without question Wilt has it. Media attention and crazy sponsor deals make Michael and Labron bigger names, but I’d rather have Wilt on my team if I could only choose 1 of those three players.

In a game Jordan would have ample opportunities to go at Wilt, but the bottom line would be, what TEAM won. If your argument is who won more championships, (Wilt vs Jordan) I would graciously bow down. But that's not our focus. Look at the numbers. Look at how many rules were changed because of this man. Study how his influence shaped the entire way the game was & is played. (The only other player that has had that kind of cultural impact is Steph Curry. Another conversation for another time) One year he played MORE than 48 minutes a game. TRANSLATION: He played every minute of every game, including overtime. If you still have a question, my retort is:100. This man scored dropped 3 digits vs OTHER grown a$! MEN. And before u say the guys he played against were bums, do me a favor: Go in your neighborhood, get 5 kids, get another guy to be on your squad, then go to the park and play. You and your boy shoot, rebound play defense and run up & down the court til YOU score 100. Shot free throws if you want. Just score in 3 digits. I can all ready tell you, brotha, you gotta be working your butt off. Oh yeah the year he hung a 100 on the Knicks , he AVERAGED 50 points a game. So if he scored 25 tonight, he had to score 75 the next game.. JUST TO BE ON AVERAGE. Let that sink in for a minute. And that's not taking into account rebounding, passing , setting scenes etc. The point is: There has NEVER been, in the history of the NBA, a greater physical force then Wilton Norman Chamberlain. Wilt is certainly a top 3-5 all time greatest players - arguably #2 behind Jordan IMO, though he was physically more dominant and ahead of his time. Much like Lebron. But some context is needed in evaluating Wilt, as a Center, versus other Centers. Then adjusting for comparisons to guards or forwards. From an athletic standpoint, Wilt was undoubtedly the greatest athlete the NBA has ever seen, and was way ahead of this time. His rebounding and shotblocking was off the charts as a result. But his offensive skills were very rough, especially early in his career. The other aspect to this context is the lane width changes. Wilt played 6 seasons for Warriors from 1959-65. The lane used to resemble a "key", which is why they called it the key and it was only 6' wide up until 1952. George Mikan was a great player, but he certainly benefited from the 6' wide lane ... i.e. in the low post, he was less than 3' from the rim on either side. So when Wilt started playing the NBA in 1959, the lane was 12''. So in the low post, he could set up less than 6' from the rim. However, per below stats and link, Wilt shot just 50% FG his first 6 seasons. And once the lane widened from 12' to 16', he did get smarter/more selective in his shots taken and by 1966 was definitely passing more a few years into his Sixers stint. But if you look at Wilt's ppg and FG % after the lane was widened from 12' to 16', his scoring numbers are very comparable to Shaq, who was shooting around or above 60% FG his entire career ... not just the 5 years Wilt did it. So Shaq shot 58% FG for his entire 19 year career playing with the 16' lane. So scoring wise, Shaq was every bit as great if not better across his whole career. Though he was not as dominant a rebounder as Wilt, nor the athlete Wilt was .. compared to rest of league. Though Shaq started as a great athlete, just couldn't keep the weight off. But Shaq could argue the rules and the game changed a lot since the days most centers avg'd 15-25 rpg ... the rules favored traditional centers in the 60's and 70's. So centers could hang around much closer to the basket and snag more easy rebounds. PLus very few centers could ever stretch the floow to 15' much less a 3 pt line. Look it up ...lots of centers avg over 15 rpgs in 60's and 70's ... very common for guys you never heard of nor are hall of fame or even all stars. Getting 15 rpgs in todays game/rules is far more difficult, especially with what the 3 pt line and defensive 3 seconds as done to the game to spread the floor. Bottom line, Wilt is way up there, arguably #2 or 3 GOAT. But noone won and dominated all phases of the game, offense, defense, transition. Plus combined that with great athleticism and nonstop effort, amd lastly played with no fear of any moment. Stat junkies have done analysis to prove Jordan (as a guard) was statistically the best ever .. take all stats relative to the position played. So when you consider all the Jordan tangibles and then the intangibles and the 6 rings, Jordan is the GOAT. Wilt couldn't carry a team to a championship like Jordan ... he just couldn't, or he would have. The 4 sport records likely to be the toughest to beat, if ever are: [1] most points in an NBA game - 100 scored by Wilt Chamberlain. March 2 1962 vs NY Knicks. 2nd highest is Kobe Bryant with 82. [2] fastest 50 goals in NHL - Wayne Gretzky scoring 50 goals in 39 games. The 2nd fastest 50 goals is Mike Bossy in 50 games. [3] Most assists in NHL - Wayne Gretzky 163 in 1985-86 season. 2nd most assists is also Gretzky with 135 in 1984-85 season. 3rd Gretzky 125 assists in 82-83 season. 4th also was Gretzky with 122 assists in 1990-91 5th, you guessed it Gretzky with 121 assists in 86-87 season. The only person to come close to Gretzky, if you can call it that is Mario Lemieux in 6th spot for most assists in a season with 109. [4[ Most points in NHL season - Wayne Gretzky with 215. 2nd most points goes to Mario Lemieux with 199. Now I bet this list can be added to but when it comes to records in NBA to stand the test of time they’ll come up more Wilt than Michael Jordan. Wilt was to the NBA as Gretzky was to hockey. And I already see 1 post below by @11DNA11 to prove this point: MJ scored 50+ points 31 times in his career. Wilt scored 50+ in 45 games of ONE SEASON. Gretzky & Wilt were and still are the Goats of their sport and league.

Wilt played in an era that had 70+% white American born players in it throughout his career that’s not the NBA. For example, there are 5% white American born players in today’s game. That’s a gigantic drop off. The first black person wasn’t even aloud to play basketball till 1950 and even after racism plagued the sport. Wilt was a finesse player who was defended by one person. Wilt never had to match up with so many African Americans and never with European players. The average height and weight was shorter/lighter back in Wilts era. Shaq was so good they changed the rules in 2001 like front court players being able to play zone and implementing the def 3sec rule. I have never seen a player once he catches the ball have two guys immediately on him the way Shaq did. The 50’s, 60’s and 70’s is the ABA era the real NBA started in the 80’s 90’s 2000’s. I’m not saying Wilt couldn’t play 90’s & 2000’s basketball but to think he would be as great as he was when he played with the Sixers I’m sorry your crazy. Back when Wilt played you could shoot the foul shot then immediately go get the ball smh lol Shaq would’ve loved that easy money.

They would all be good track and field athletes or volley-ball players. As for the bench pressing and 48-inch vert, that is anecdotal and highly, highly unlikely. I have seen the footage of his track and field exploits. Impressive but not world class. Someone with his arm length does not bench-press that much and the 48-inch vertical, where was that ever measured? The highest ever recorded vertical was 46-inch. A 7ft1 player jumping 2 inches higher? Urban myth. He was incredibly dominant and still teams traded him in his prime.
