I can still here my Dad singing this song and strumming t out on his old guitar .He was newly divorced from my Mom and raising three kids on his own.He looked so sad as I crept downstairs when I was supposed to be sleeping and found him sitting all alone in the bar room .He did the song justice I’d give anything to hear that again..Singing this song to your Dad at his request says a lot about you and yourDad .Im very sorry for your loss Brother.

I'm 81, and Willie carried me through losing a son, and many other sad situations through the years. I cried with him when he lost his son, and through his other problems in life. His music is wonderful and has brought sooo much comfort and joy to so many of us. I'm gonna hang in there at least as long he does. I'm blessed to have seen him in person on stage 5 times, and hope to see him again. God Bless you, Willie!!

Willie talks the song, very spare, no legato, no vibrato. But it works for him. He hasn't got a beautiful voice but he communicates very well and that's the most important thing.
