Willie Hugh Nelson (born April 29, 1933) is an American musician, actor, and activist. The critical success of the album Shotgun Willie (1973), combined with the critical and commercial success of Red Headed Stranger (1975) and Stardust (1978), made Nelson one of the most recognized artists in country music. He was one of the main figures of outlaw country, a subgenre of country music that developed in the late 1960s as a reaction to the conservative restrictions of the Nashville sound. Nelson has acted in over 30 films, co-authored several books.

Carole King (born Carol Joan Klein, February 9, 1942) is an American singer-songwriter who has been active since 1958, initially as one of the staff songwriters at the Brill Building and later as a solo artist. She is the most successful female songwriter of the latter half of the 20th century in the US, having written or co-written 118 pop hits on the Billboard Hot 100. King also wrote 61 hits that charted in the UK, making her the most successful female songwriter on the UK singles charts between 1952[contradictory] and 2005

I grew up on country and I did have and was loved 26 years worth of tomorrow’s since 1994 he passed away six months ago today good strong country love never stop loving each other hard this song Reminds me of him and life past. Peace and love each other

Right, too much overjoyed, and that's a pity.. I've always thought she wasn't a very good singer, but this was far below level.. as well it was for the vocals of Willie.. And I know it was because it wasn't his key, but I think Carole should have been sitting behind her piano and not standing on stage singing next to Willie Nelson.. those two voices don't match at all..

Had no idea that this unclassified gem existed until about 10 minutes ago... have been a fan of both for a long time... the best thing I have stumbled across musically in the last 5 years... undisputed talents...

Carole is fantastic. But just listen to Willie.. forever the song is more important than the singer.. he quietens his voice to allow Carole’s unique tone to embrace the soul of the song. Willie’s sensitivity around the lyric makes it so tender. They paired so beautifully.

Agreed - Willie was comfortable enough in his own skin to not try to outshine her....just let her sing and enjoy the spotlight. Entertainers could learn a LOT from Willie...!

I will always remember getting off work at Freindly Ice at maybe 10:30 - 11pm during the summer before senior year in high school, and going to this bar in Fayettevillie N.Y.. Yes. I was only 17, but no one ever asked for ID. (it was 18 then). Carol King's "It's too Late" & Rod Stewart's "Maggie May" were always being played on the jukebox! Hanging out with college kids, good music, made me feel like I belonged, in a new town that my Dad had just got transferred to! Summer of 1971!!
That must of one of Carole's highlights of her career. Duet with Willie = awesome.

Carole sounds as great as she did when the album came out. And she is absolutely beautiful.
I believe this is one of greatest songs ever written if you grew up before 1970. Today, “going all the way” has become no big deal. I don’t see that as progress. But, I’m just an old guy.

I like the fact that Willie clearly loves playing Trigger as much as singing. He's a very jazz influenced Country performer. Music has no boundaries! And we're all the richer for it.

I and 2 friends sang this in a talent show Junior high about 1962. I used to be able to mimic several different female singers and we had such a blast. Practicing in the multi purpose room, several cafeteria workers came out to see if The Shirelles had dropped by. So fun!!
