My Willie Nelson story .... sometime around 1971 (give or take a year or two) I was playing my fiddle in a small club in Las Vegas, a friend of Willies told him about me and next thing you know Willie invited me to play with him on stage at the Golden Nugget in Downtown Las Vegas. How many stars would let a budding musician play on stage with them? Well Willie let me play the last two songs of his set with him and he will always have my love and respect. Willie is the greatest!

I went to Willie Nelson's 4th of July party in Gonzalez, TX 1975. It turned into a disaster area! Willie said keep on singin. People were falling out from to much sun, alcohol and or drugs. This was a 3 day weekend, my friends kept us close to the entrance! Then someone decided to pull part of the fence down so the majority of people we're free to go. Their were cars parked all along the street as far as you could see Willie had so many violations, tickets for vandalized property! Loved every second of it!

Willie is a legend. I might be a metal head, but this is one artist that truly has my respect. I've always liked what I call "old country". The REAL stuff. Willie, Johnny, Merle, Patsy, Hank...

kornfreak78 I'm the same way! I love my hard rock and metal, but I was also raised listening to the *real* country music, and still love listening to it once in a while. I still melt when I hear George Strait's "Amarillo by Morning" (my ultimate favorite song of his)! But I also enjoy some old George Jones, Tammy Wynette, Hank Jr. and Sr., Merle Haggard, Waylon Jennings, and of course Willie Nelson. ☺

Willie started out as a jazz/blues man. Got B.B. King his first record deal, then left the blues scene for country. You can tell the jazz influence on his country style. Before BB King died I heard an interview on Bluesville Sirius XM where BB interviewed Willie and they reminisced about the good old days, how BB had left a demo tape with Willie at a jazz show in the 50s, where Willy was playing. It was about a year later that BB saw Willie again and asked if he'd listened to it, and Willie's response was, "I've been looking all over for you, we need to talk!" and that was the beginning of BBs musical career. It's amazing to think that Willies been around that long and has been that influential.

Alles denkbar Liebe! Awe Willie... I have two sons. My oldest passed in 2012. He had the guitar bug and from the very basic chords I taught him, the same way I learned, he took it above and beyond my capabilities. I loved sitting with guitars and playing. My youngest is now the singer in a local rock band. He has the gift of voice I can't take credit for. I go to their practices and recording when I can. The bond of music and good friends brings a comfort to my soul. We did a song together in memory of our lost family members and want to record it soon. This story touched my heart and I just needed to say thank you for sharing. Bless you Willie.... ya made me cry....

My dad drove a flat bed hauling steele up and down the east coast since i was 6, listening to Willie Nelson. so all week long he would be gone and he might, just might come home on the weekends. That was our normal. as we got older he came home a little bit more. He hadnt even retired and at the age of 70 he passed. Its been 18 yrs now and everytime i hear Willie Nelson on the radio, I think of my dad. ❤️. thank you so much for all your amazing music! My dad is probably up in heaven listening to you guys singing.

Willie is a good man and God has blessed him. 'Funny How Time Slips Away', as sung by Willie Nelson and Glenn Campbell, is one of my all-time favorite songs. I listen to it over and over and it never gets old. OMG!! His son sounds just like him! Willie, like all of God's creatures, is going to die some day, but his legend will live on long after most of us have passed on.

A real American icon. A true legend. I’m not that much of a Country music guy, but Willie is true old school. Played the same style and never sold out in order to make more money. The guy is relaxed, down to earth and seems like a good dad. His boys love him, want to play and tour with him, doesn’t get much better. He’s definitely a musician that people respect and always remember of any genre. They don’t make these original musicians like him anymore, everything now is driven by looks, electronics and song writers.

Went to a Willie Nelson concert in Lubbock many many years ago in a huge coliseum. Walked in there were no chairs, just wall to wall standing people! The covert was over 2 hours and nobody left. The men lined up in front of the stage and one by one each would hand their cowboy hat or cap to a body guard who would hand it to Willie while he was singing and he would wear it for a bit and take the next one. What a thrill for those men. Bet they still have them in a special place today. Love Willie.

He is so incredibly talented, in so many ways, too, with music, of course, but in acting and invention, as well. He truly is a gift to us who love him, so dearly. I love that his boys have embraced their dad's gentle ways and his love of music and peaceful, easy living. I love you, so much Willie. I love you, Lukas and Micah. Donald Shores, you expressed my thoughts perfectly. I'd like to add it warms my heart and soul to see him surrounded and loved by his mate and sons. There were many years I felt like Willie Nelson was an artist none of my friends knew about much less loved and hungered to hear the way I did. But now I have to share him with the entire world. He had to work long and hard and overcome many hurdles, like the IRS fiasco, in his life. But his gift served him well and it's all okay now Willie. He is a gift from God to music, he has given the world so much and will leave it a better place for all time because of it. Thank you Willie. I think even God would say "Well done good and faithful servant".

@@myfranciefinds2214 That's so cool. Now everybody is drowning in their phones instead of actually doing things. Lol ( as I sit here looking at my phone) what state did you grow up in? I'm in Pa in the county side too.

He sounds EXACTLY like his dad! I saw him for the first time on the Tony Bennett tribute concert. I didn't know who he was, as I missed his introduction. When I heard him sing, I looked on Google to see if Willie had a son that sang. Sure enough. That's who it was. I knew it had to be.

FILTHY-MOUTHED godless drug addict criminal idiots is all they are! These disgusting immature fools need to grow up and learn to communicate respectfully, intelligently, and morally. Profanity/vulgarity only proves a lack of self-control, respect, education, morals, maturity, language skills, and character. They are pathetic parents.

A national treasure. I know that's been used a lot to describe Willie, but it's true. I remember being with a beautiful girl at one of his 4th of July picnics in Gonzales Texas back in the 70's. It was one of the best times of my life. Thanks, Willie.
