3:20 When I heard that base come in for the first time in a club in '99, I almost collapsed. Me and my mate looked at each other with an agony/ecstasy (pun intended) look on our faces and simultaneously mouthed, *What the fuck?!".* Both continuing to look at each other, almost for confirmation that we are *definitely* conscious and definitely hearing and feeling this right now. 30 seconds later, the tune dropped for real and the place..... *erupted* and I mean erupted. *Everyone* was swept away and dancing and bouncing and screaming and crying to this tune in one blissful shared experience. Life is never quite the same after you experience that and this tune still does it for me literally every time for 22 years now. People say that they don't appreciate what they have but in the late 90s I *knew* I was living in the middle of something special and soaked up and appreciated every last second. Truly amazing times.

I've been saying this since that douche started making other producer's tracks as if they were his creation: Ayla is a good example - he labelled as his own. They should have simply called it "Ayla - Tiesto mix" because that's all it was and, it actually didn't change much from the original, sounded the same. He is the David Guetta of Trance music 😂😂😂🤦♂️.

Tiestos version was the beginning of the end of tiesto. That one track is responsible for him going from trance
@arjunsk1924
3 жыл бұрын
@@marcoc33 what makes you say that? I’m generally interested in why you think that (general question no contradiction btw). Also I kinda agree. Just he was an absolute brilliant album. Amazing songs but I always felt it’s where he peaked. Songs like “dance 4 life” and “elements of life” never did it for me too much and always seemed liked they were never as good to the expectation of 2004. But that’s just my opinion. However, I understand what you mean about adagio for strings. It was very mainstream compared to other songs and probably was what pushed him to wanting to be more mainstream, being in the spot light kind of thing
@marcoc33
3 жыл бұрын
@@arjunsk1924 for me, it had commercial success and got played on mainstream radio stations, which got him a new audience. The music that followed, in my opinion was more suited to the new audience and radio.
@arjunsk1924
3 жыл бұрын
@@marcoc33 that’s exactly what I thought. Early songs like suburban train, flight 643, lethal industry, etc were long Melodic songs suitable for the ravers (people who enjoyed the journey of the song). The songs after 2004 always appeared to follow more of a “catchy beat” which is what the radio wants. It seems they were possibly an experiment to see how far they could push towards a new audience before completely switching all together. Also tiesto is more of a brand (which has been spoken about in recent times). So I personally think that is was more of a business decision, rather than a direct decision from Tijs (DJ Tiesto) which left to a complete cut off from trance altogether. I’m 17 and it’s sad to see the music industry where it is now, many soulless songs like “dance monkey” which people claim to be the best thing since sliced bread. Everything is too generic, the same and too basic, nothing sparks something new and exciting. The plot of these new songs is basically a basic beat with lyrics based on love story’s, sex, gangsters and fake shit.

@differentname8051

Never play at full volume, all speakers will be destroyed due to the amplifier clipping and distorting. When the sound quality starts to sound harsh and bad you should always turn down the amplifier to where it sounds crisp and clear again. This can be a costly mistake that plenty of people do trying to squeeze the last little bit of power from their set up. I don't get why some prefer to listen to their music when it sounds terrible.

@@philipneale7597 Lol. I always laugh when people recommend Bose. I'll let you into a little secret that most pro Dj's know and understand. BOSE is an acronym for..... better optional sound equipment. I have a Torque twin fan cooled 800 watt rms mosfet amp. 400 watts per side @ 8ohms. That feeds a pair of old H&H 400 watt rms speakers. Each speaker has an 18 inch driver. I always took the bass spike @ 15% that can occur hence I never really needed to push my speakers to the limit. I would ALWAYS have my amp volumes up to max, restrict the sound going to them at the back of my mixer by 20%, that way - if I got a bit heavy handed on the pre-fade gain, I know I'd never blow my speakers up, have clipping/amps shutting down etc. My H&H's are a bit battered and bruised after 33 years of ownership, they're sat in my cubby hole gathering dust, but they still work and they've paid for themselves hundreds of times over. Dj's these days are more geared towards the likes of FTB. They are a bit pricey, but I'd be interested to know is Celestion make their drivers? My H&H's had Celestion in them. Companies these days tend to use Celestion, make their own cabinets and them rebadge them. Unless they're cheap Chinese garbage.

It doesn't get any bigger than this. William Ørbit at his prime, Ferry Corsten at his prime. It's the collaboration of dreams. It's the defining trance track of the late 90s. And it's stuck in time as being one of the finest trance tracks ever. It's as simple as that.
Gatecrasher Sheffield 1999. That was the first time i heard this godlike tune. Such majesty.

Beautiful classic.
I am only 63, so I am only a pup. Met Ferry Corsten on the Isle of Man in early 2000's when he was here for a Life Promotions gig. Happy carefree days
Easily by far up there with the very best Trance tunes ever made.
Masterpiece of the modern era lol. What a track to this day still
This tune is my favourite of all time! 👌 Take a bow Ferry.. The banger of bangers.
Time can pass. People come and go. New genres form and die out. But this song will always take me to a place no other song can. 2021 is the year mankind will dance to this music once again together.
Bellissimo mix,di un periodo che mi fa tornare in mente quando questa musica ne faceva da padrona.chi ha vissuto quell'epoca può capirmi!Capolavoro❤❤❤classe1975!
There are only a handful of tunes that can actually ruin me and this is top of the list.If you've been to a rave when this comes on you will get it!Its like nothing else!!!It has tears pouring down my face just listening to it sat in my living room!!A special tune that can never be beat imo!The pinnacle of uplifting trance!!
Nothing has beaten this since and how could it. It's particularly ridiculous at 4:55 when the beat disappears briefly and it all changes around. My timestamp is no use, you have to hear it in context. If I was Ferry making this I'd be like holy chit man, WTF have I created!
Ferry Corsten god of trance
This song is the opitomy of Trance music.

I well remember the first time I heard this. I had split with my first wife and had to move back home til I could sort myself out. I had a stereo with an alarm on it, so that used to wake me for work. Now I've never been a morning person till this track hit me as a wake up one morning.......also I used to go for a drive at night and find a place to chill as my ex was a real mind gamer, and this would be the perfect soundtrack while I was looking up at the sky....... Needless to say I'm still listening to this anthem and it still gives me goosebumps.

Tiestos version was the beginning of the end of tiesto. That one track is responsible for him going from trance
@arjunsk1924
@marcoc33
3 жыл бұрын
@@arjunsk1924 for me, it had commercial success and got played on mainstream radio stations, which got him a new audience. The music that followed, in my opinion was more suited to the new audience and radio.
@arjunsk1924

@differentname8051
