Will you try ScuffGard as an alternative to ScuffX?

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

In this video, I explore Hanford and Green's ScuffGard paint, which is touted as a potential substitute for ScuffX paint. Join me as I share my initial impressions of using this paint for the first time. Does it stand as a more affordable option compared to the high-priced ScuffX? Tune in to the video and form your own opinion.

This is a very niche ASMR video. Listen as Phil paints door, runs his nails down it and rubs it with a golf club.

Hi there, I now only use Isomat Isolac Satin or Eggshell or Scuff X. Could you advise me in which situations would you use the matching adhesion primer for Isomat and an adhesion primer like Zinsser Aqua with Scuff X. Is it every time on previously painted wood work or only if it was previously painted with a solvent based paint? I can't seem to find a clear answer. Since these 2 paints are really good product especially for adhesion I would like to use them as a 2 (top) coat system. What do you recommend? Thanks for your help 😊

Scuff gard or true gard Phil? Which is your favourite on trim please.. Going to order a 2.5L to try👍 I've noticed it's made by andura.. I've used the titanium one satin years ago and wasn't to happy with fact it wasn't very durable and didn't take to filler & caulk. Hope this is a different kettle of fish now

Touch Gard, will be good for touching with hands. I asked them to do a mix between the two as that would be perfect lol

Only really necessary with handrails/posts though isn't it? Tbh I've found rings the worse culprit for these anyway. Always leave a pair of mittens for HO these days🙄 So basically I'm after the one that you think levels out better and leaves a smoother finish.. Drum roll.. Which is in your honest opinion? Have you tried it over caulk yet BTW? Thanks ✋

@@ProfessionalPainterDecorator I agree mate.. Far too much choice these days and every product seems to fall short of being the real deal. . I wonder why 😉 I've started mixing aqua guard satin with aqua guard matt recently to create a nice eggshell finish.. Its a shame alot of manufacturers have decided not to go down the eggshell route anymore.. Using aqua guard undercrackers alot now which is nice to use with added benifits of not destroying your brushes/ stainblocking and faster drying times.

@@carlbridge-wk4ez I've a video later that's looks at all of them But I did say to H&G that touch gard should be pushed more as the biggest problem with water based paint is it going cheesy with hand grease. Both are good. I'd opt for the touch gard though.

@@ProfessionalPainterDecorator Thanks.. will try some out. I'm a sucker for trying new paints but just don't seem to be happy sticking with the same product these days.. Have you tried bm advance yet? That was one of my favourites afew years ago..levels out better than scuff and you'll never need extenders. Only draw back for me was the fact it turned creamy in the tin if not used.. Very odd. Not sure if they sorted the issue now. Its not as bad as the other hybrids when it comes to yellowing so I wouldn't believe what some people say. Different technology..

I wouldn't lay off WB with a brush after a roller. A mini roller 2fussy blokes 10mm and 5mm are good. The Arroworthy micro fibre (I think it's 9mm) are also good. Have a look at my other videos on roller

What about vs Aqua Guard for £20 per litre … worth the extra? Also if you don’t mind me asking - does satin dull over acrylic primer/undercoat and if so for the time it takes is it worth a third coat to get a better sheen? Thanks

@@Liverpool1ne depends. wb satin, goes over itself. some wb paint say to use thir Primer/Uc and its athree coat system, others like h&G can go straight over and just two coat. It willl depend if you have a vast colour change, yo may want to Primr/Uc first.

@@ProfessionalPainterDecorator thanks Phil I’ve been using WB satin over itself as two coats on old rubbed down gloss which came up well. When I used it over acrylic primer/undercoat due to colour change or less sound surface I noticed the same two coats appear flatter as though the acrylic underneath dulled the finish so I thought perhaps a third coat may be the answer. Using Aqua Guard so trying to avoid the brush killer matching undercoat.

I found a litre of Albany oil satin in garage been there in around 5 years no uv and its still white like proper white no off white the rest of oil satins have all gone yellow even the hybrid satins with no uv have gone off white. Also with Albany oil gloss been in there couple of years and thats still white too. Conclusion from that is theres no point in acrylic woodwork metal paints bloody 3-4 coats on painted woodwork ridiculous
