I am viewing this channel to learn how correctly refinish furniture before I proceed with a few pieces that I own and intend to keep. It’s all very fascinating but I can’t help to already feel EXHAUSTED before I’ve even attempted anything!!

Well, the nice thing about starting with your own pieces is that you can take your time and practice on those pieces. Your first pieces might be a little rough, but you’ll learn and improve with each piece. 🙌🏼

I would much rather see it painted than pitched in a landfill. Not every piece can be revived... unfortunately. New life and new chapter. ❤

Lisa, you're the professional, so I'm not going to be upset with you if you paint a piece or not lol. You can clearly see what's wrong and you know what to do for the best outcome. If I had a piece of furniture that needed work, I wouldn't hesitate to bring it to you and let you decide what is the best for it. Your finished piece is just gorgeous and I think yours was the winner. Thank you so much for sharing!

My dad refinished furniture as a hobby & beat it into my head as a kid “you don’t paint wood.” So, I initially freaked out @ paint but it’s so pretty I’m all in 😊 The right paint on the right piece with the right artist makes a world of difference! (I love the gold!)

I love it! It’s always nice if you can refinish a piece to its before but I think one quality of a good artist is to recognize when you can’t and so you pivot. This was one of those times and I think now it has a beautiful new life❤❤❤ Awesome job 👏🏾 👏🏾 👏🏾

There are probably as many of us who like the painted route as don’t. Each piece is an individual in what can be done. I totally trust you. You do beautiful work!!! I think you made all the right decisions. Gorgeous!

Well done! Nice flip. I love the gold to accent the details, a very nice homage to the design. And I like the end result. And the winning piece is beautiful. I'm not usually into transfers, but this was beautiful. I like the earthy tones. lovely and unique.

Thanks! Yes, I’ve never done transfers either. I think I like them best when people paint the edges and embellish the actual transfer to make it look hand painted. I’m not very artistic like that though 😅

This is a beautiful piece. I wasn't sure if I would like the dead salmon color, but it looks fantastic, especially with the romance theme. I love the contrast between the light paint and dark stain on top. It is stunning!

I think that yours is the best piece of the Challenge. Dead Salmon doesn't exactly have a poetic ring to it, but it is the perfect color for that dresser. I was kind of surprised at the choice of stain for the top (I was thinking walnut, like actual Jacobean furniture had), but I really like how your tones complement the almost-pink of the paint. The gilding is just enough and really brought it home! You gave the old gal some femininity and a little glam, and now she can enjoy a whole new life!

Have you checked out Furniture Fables? Good tips on taking the middle ground on painting vs refinishing creatively. Like stripping the veneer off drawers & stenceling over the solid wood. (Similar to what Kathy did with transfers.) It can be beautiful. Kathy understood that. I spotted her as my choice for winner the first time you showed her entry. An old lady can be modern, rustic, And beautiful. And aren't the flipper challenges an opportunity to go outside the business model box? Kathy has some wow techniques in her skill set. Layering gell stain tickles my curiosity. Also Love your stripping tips. Thanks for the contest. I hope you get loads of views.

Hi! I can't recall which video, which piece, but it had to do with veneer bubbling after drying. A trick after it is on is to give it a tiny bit to dry and then ho im and put a somewhat wet rag on it, and go over the veneer, then turn off lights & in your completely dark room, put a lamp up on it for viewing, and it will show you areas not stuck. Then put iron on it directly, low setting 3, and go over the spots to restock them and it will be good. Maybe you already know that trick now, lol! ❤video may have been awhile ago...❤

I did try the iron trick but not with darkness and a lamp. I’ll have to remember that trick!

End result is gorgeous 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 Had a thought 💭…if you gild like that again using that paint, you could load the paint into one of those glue syringes & gently release the paint into those grooves? What do you think 🤔?

Well, the little grooves weren’t smooth or very deep, so I’m not sure if that would work or not. 🤷‍♀️

Painting is awesome and fresh. It already live a life time in dark stain. So move on an create fresh new look!!

I really like it. What would I do differently? I would do the "flourishes" the same hue but a different lightness so they would be more appreciated as with the original factory color choices. So beautiful though, the work that you did!

Just an FYI. BIN Shellac has an Advanced Synthetic Shellac that is water based. I have not used it yet but saw another KZread flipper test it out and really liked it

It's very beautiful ... however... it wouldn't sell in my area -- very conservative Central IL ! What I would do with my buyers in mind is Shabby Chic it white and use dark wax as a highlight. Yes we're 10 years behind everyone else !! I have a gorgeous Anthropologie Enchantment Dresser completed and it's sitting and sitting !

Great challenge piece. Loved the color choices (except the name of the paint "Dead Salmon," really?) More of a blushy taupe to me...anyway, beautiful gilding as well. The challenge winner is such a talented artist, that layered finish was impressive, would have been memorable even without the transfers.

I loved it! Dries in 15 minutes and recoat in 1 hour. It sprayed like a dream too. I don’t have a con yet. I’ll definitely be using it again.
