I’d like to start this comment with a disclaimer. I’m functional, but have autism. One of my dumb dream ideas was to get a bunch of dudes together in nice looking three piece suits (this might be the white collar guy in me speaking) driving busted ass shitbox hatchbacks from the 80s and 90s, crashing into each other making a scene somewhere for nothing more than the shock value of normies. Total chaos, maximum lulz.

As long as a person has realistic expectations, pretty much ANY of the "250 class" bikes are just as fun .. but I think these are winners for the price. For anyone wondering if a little 250 is the bike for them, the answer is Yes! Started my 2 wheel life on a Rebel 250, and a couple of the kids started on 250's as well. A couple grand, ride it for a year or two, and sell it for near what you paid for it. You will learn so much about what you actually want from a bigger bike and avoid future buyers remorse. And believe me, in 40 years, you will look back and wish you still had that old 250 ...

Just trying to help y'all out being a fellow biker but what helps me during winter weather was wearing heated thermals, thermal gloves, pants, top and hood. They'll keep your body temp normal and they can get as hot as 110 degrees and uses external battery banks. I wear thermals fleece lined jeans a sweater and winter jacket and when I ride for a few minutes I'm sweating, using those you won't need to layer so much and you'll get mobility back because that had to suck with all those clothes on but not gonna lie Ike was styling that day lol nice job and good view.

I don't plan to overpower it, the frame isn't going to handle that well. When I'm ready for more, I'll step up to a different bike. I've been looking at a Ryker.....maybe.

Still got caught up in it when I was coming into Albuquerque NM. I was 17 and wanted to live with my Dad. So I had 1972 Honda cb450 that built over the summer. And I ran away from Home to go see him. I had a honda rebel 250 back in 2004, I road it from washington d.c., all the way to pass Nashville TN. 700+ miles (1 way). Ugh it was horrible. It was my first ride over 100 miles. It was in the middle of the summer time. I had to get off the interstate and take the shaded back roads it was so hot that year. My body hurt so much. Also I unintentionally ended up on the dragon's tail. I had semi-trucks behind me during that leg of the ride. I could smell their clutches cooking. If you're a thrill junky, go do the dragon tail on a small bike with 5 ton truck behind you. I'll never do it again. Fast forward to 2008 I bought a Suzuki Boulevard 800 rode it for 900+ miles. Wasn't even sore from the ride.

You should try and find a Korean, Hyosung Harley clone. Hyosung was operated back in the day as Hyosung-Suzuki. They were imported for a few years into the US and good examples can be had cheap. They are a V Twin 250cc on a much bigger frame than the Chinese Harley clone. The, Chinese bikes were pretty cool, cheap but cool. Those bikes would be daily drivers in Asia. I lived there twice for about eight years total. Great stuff guys.... Joe

Oh, good gravy gentlemen - center stand - here's how you do it. Facing the left side of the motorcycle, place your weight on your left foot as you put your right foot on the center stand tang. Put your left hand on the left grip, and find a solid place to grip on the back of the motorcycle near and forward of the left rear shock mount (there should be a convenient frame rail or lug that doesn't have a sharp edge). then, straighten the motorcycle until both center stand feet are on the ground. Now the easy part - shift your weight from your left foot to your right foot. Don't pull back on the handle bar, and only use lifting force to get the center stand over center. Then congratulate yourselves on doing it right, and by yourselves. You're welcome. Excellent content as always except for the above .

for those wondering what the battlsheip markers mean, the islands stand for island bombardments during the US island hopping campaign in the pacific, the ship is specifically showing that they sunk a japanese merchant vessel since they are using the sun disc flag (A sun-disc flag was adopted as the national flag for merchant ships under Proclamation No. 57 of Meiji 3, issued on 27 February 1870) instead of the IJN flag, and the plane is for aircraft downed.

As a man who, back in the late '90s to early '00s, rode year round, to 2 jobs (while my wife had a Saab 9000 turbo with climate control and heated leather seats) I can tell you that layers are VERY important in the winter! Your outer layer should break the wind with warmer layers underneath. I wore a long sleeve t-shirt, 1 or 2 sweatshirts, and a leather jacket. I also had great winter riding gloves, a balaclava, and a 3/4 helmet with 2 face sheilds to choose from. I never found a full face helmet that fit my XXL "melon head" quite right. When it wasn't cold, I had a little half helmet with either goggles or wrap around sunglasses, as well as lightweight leather riding gloves. Not gonna lie, I dig that red bike! It has an old school Brit bike esthetic, like an old BSA. Clean, lean, and simple. Since my current commute is only 2 minutes, I don't need anything real big or fancy. Heck, my last bike was an '82 Kawasaki KZ650 CSR.

Well, I spent many a year riding in cold/colder weather back and forth to work…I had an apple warmer on the bottom of my full face, ski gloves and a heavy parka. Not much fun but I did survive the cold!😝😜

For a while now I've been looking for a lite weight motorcycle that I could hang on the rear bumper hitch for when I go out one camping road trips I've got larger bikes but not for a cheap adventure bike while at campsite. $ 2000.oo fits the budget.. So after your Myrtle Beach adventure,I called Mark at Venom and bought the red sportster.. BIG TIP...have Venom do the complete assembly. For the few extra bucks the do all the work, toque the nuts and bolts. Test ride ,and send it to you READY TO Go ..just add gas....Or you could spend twice as much for a 150cc honda. your choice

Ike, love your style. I rode my Honda 125 across Texas once on a 300 mile Trip. My head buzzed for an hour when I got to my destination. Ike you fold dinner jackets inside out to prevent the wrinkles. Back in the 80's before fancy riding suits, we wore all of our clothes in the winter. Only thing in the saddle bags were tools, toiletries, food, and on occasion, a folded suit. My best friend even wore his pajamas under all his outer clothes. Guess y'all aren't riding those bikes back. I've had to buy too many expensive tires to ever think about burning them up like that.

Cool trip on the Chinese knockoffs! They did better than expected in some people’s eyes. When you were talking about the temperature that you were dealing with, 30’s & 40’s it made me wish I was there because it’s only 1 degree above 0 here in Minnesota with a high of 7 above 0. So 30’s & 40’s sound pretty darn good to me. 🤣🤣

That ride to the Ferry. I almost got taken out by a Deer on those curves. I lived in Wilmington for 10 yrs and the Fort Fisher run as i called it was one of my go to places to ride too. The Battleship is a amazing piece of history to be on if you make a another trip.

From someone who rides in ct when there isn't ice everywhere. Skin tight base layer to keep heat in. That includes nitrile gloves. Head to toe covered besides your eyes. Insulated pants, short under them and long sleeve turtle neck with a wind breaker on top of that. At that point you should be able to walk outside and not be cold. Now add rain pants and I use the 3M reflective worker winter jacket. You see them on all the job sites insulated and waterproof. It took me 2 years to find the right combo. I think the turtleneck was key. Composite toe boots can help steel toe boots will hurt. Don't ask me how I know.
