Will the wrecker steer and drive out today?
Long days at the shop, but we push to get the wrecker back together. Will the PSC hydro assist steering work? Will we be able to drive the wrecker out of the shop?

Whoever she is she's doing a great job
Thank you for showing us some of what it takes behind the scenes to do what you do!
Always nice to seat cover lending hand on any repairs 👍
Fna for sharing this kinda of knowledge man. Real behind the scenes stuff us regular people never get to see!👍🏼
Awesome. I love how the whole family gets involved. You guys do amazing work.
Trick for when removing hoods, deck lids or doors: drill a 1/8" hole through the hinge bracket and whatever it is attached to. When you reinstall, insert a drill bit through the hole to line up everything the way it was when you took it apart. Question: can you modify the steering arm axle bracket? Thanks for explaining about the 'compressor'. :)
You guys do a great Job Eric! Love that old truck. Grew up in Square Bodies and still drive one today. Thanks to you, Seat Cover and the crew for sharing your adventures in wrenching and wrecking with us. Be well Donut Dan
Another great video. It’s great when we can make the repairs and or upgrades ourselves. Love you guys and your videos. God Bless.
It's a good day when you can drive the project out of the shop great work guys
Feels good to reach that point on a major project like that 👍 congrats!
I know you can buy factory replacement blower motors with the cage on them that bolts right in, I just did one in my suburban and did one in my 81 longbox last year Glad to see the wrecker coming back together!

When the bearing gets dry I just drill a tiny hole in the bearing housing for lubrication. Little silicone seals the hole till it's time for another drop of oil. And Bob's yer Uncle yer back in business! Take care Dan

That's a hd heater box that's the same width as the blower motor with ac. That's why it didn't work.
That high steer, with the hydro assist is going to be nice in that rig. Enjoy, stay safe.
It's nice to see KZreadrs with women that jump in there and help I only know of you and Stapleton 42
Kudos to the garage letting you use the facilities to do your work. A lot of bigger city ones will not let you. the garage that I work a will let you have a bag as long as it doesn’t interfere with everyday business and the shop is actually open
Glad to see TOWMATER is back together Eric....love watchin you grab stuff from the pits of hell in the woods!!!!🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣WTG Mara, good girl, love way you jump right in to get on truck and get her goin!!!!
Tootsie rolls don't expire!! Looking forward to seeing how the wrecker performs on the trails with the steering upgrade.
ABSOLUTELY love your video's much love from Massachusetts 😎
All the long nights have finally paid off. Love it. Have a good friend and your better half to really help out.
Good looking set up, Eric I hope it runs good in the woods. Look forward to the shakedown . Thanks for sharing and stay safe 👍
Great video showing you everything we need to know and what you have gone through to get where you are
Go Mara go!! Make that floor jack do right!!
Gorgeous shop
You can always cut the mount back off the axle find some thick metal to raise it back up then weld it back down .I had to rewatch I just ordered my psc ram 1 7/8 /8 inch stroke don't have hydro boost I'm just going to cut the cap off a different power steering pump and get a longer straight radiator hose hose clamp that to my factory pump then drop the other cap end in the end of hose hose clamp that in place for additional fluid .I'll have to show you on face once it's all done if your interested
Love the video sir can't wait to see what's next for the truck now awesome
Eric you do one of the best in depth explanations of your work that I have seen. i really enjoy and learn a lot when you repair and do maintenance on vehicles. I do not wish you bad luck but I would love to see more videos like these.
Awesome video Eric!! Now I just can’t weight to see what new products that you have for the front end?? Hopefully everything will be finished up in the next video so that you can take it out on the trail and see how all the new stuff works out for you??? I can definitely say that the steering stuff that you installed you are going to keep asking your self why didn’t we install that a long time ago!!?? Lol!!!
Lookin good! Im considering a kit like this for my TJ. Get some rest. Cheers!
The beast is back in the saddle again
I would say with a steering box set up and with military surplus axles and the books from Memphis equipment book store and they can always come in handy
Hey Eric & Mara !! Great work on the steering ,,just watch that "OL"" blower motor as it will knock out the "resistor panel "" as had the happen with a bad motor on a 2003 Silverado & had to replace the blower & the Panel !! Have a good week & Thanks again !!
Great work 😬
u all did a great job on the wrecker, will see u in the next one
I had the same problem when i ordered my blower motor for my 87 lol . Thumbs up
At 4:40! Like my chief engineer said: we dont need that. If it fails we read the instructionbook😉😉😁😁. Hats of for mss Seatcover. The way you 2 support each other👍👍👍. The one you explained was clear! But do the most have welded difs? Because i see a lot on the hook with all 4 wheels turning, while 2 wheels are in the air.
I want to suggest that you keep an eye on the oil temperature of the steering system. While there you have more mechanical advantage now, it can generate a good amount of heat, and having hydro-boost works the oil some too. I don't know if you have a cooler on it now, you may want to add one, or possibly go to a bigger one. I have a transmission cooler for the steering system on my K5 with hydraulic assist. It seems to work decently. I haven't cooked the oil playing in Moab.
about time ha ha But you need to weld the ram to tie rod mount in place ! underload it will slide on the tie rod plus get some hydraulic hose sleeve to cover the hose to save from having a cut hose
Bad ass! Great vid man👍🏼
Thanks guys for the awesome video your so awesome
Good job should make steering better
I'm stuck in the office waiting to go out and salt as the rain/ice/snow storm moves thru Kentucky, enjoy your videos!
nicely done.
"A man's got to know his limitations".
Had the same problem with my blower motor. I drilled a small hole and used chain lube on it. I hit it a few times a year.
Nice camera work at 11:50 whomever you are.
I want some better steering for my TJ. That psc stuff is super spiff.
@4:46... A Little Nut is better than No Nut! 🤣🤣🤣🤣 @7:23... it's better to watch videos on the laptop, they're easier to see; than on a smart phone. I watched the Reservoir Bleed Sequence, twice! 😍😍😍😍@16:40... Lock-to-Lock, with no whining! YAY!!!
I don't know which version of hydraulic or cross ram street he used but I think it is kxracer he built a 78 Chevy k30 its red and he has a whole series on the truck
Awesome cool 🆒️ 😎 👍 🆒️ 😎 👍
I was waiting for the water wars to start. Lol.
The frame will buckle again to dinky
It's going to be great seeing some more recoverys all the best to all
I think it's time for a new coat of paint this summer
Just tell them about the s10 it's Wisconsin things don't unbolt like there supposed has to be torched off and they have salt on roads in winter .and rust that combo and a swamp for years it's not just going to unbolt
Yeah!, I think 4 or 5 video's is enough for a steering--box replacement, lol
Did you know they make a welder that you can install in your truck it comes with the alternator to power it it is 160 amps it's made for off-road trucks Fab rats installed one on his crawler
AWESOME!!!
Enjoyed
Hd heater with no ac! You need the same blower as an ac truck. I made my own hd heater box by cutting in half and adding metal in the center.
Loooks GOOD
Its alive. Yay
Loving the content, but that wrecker has gone pink.. the lil pink wrecker that could.. lol
Rightey tidey lefty lusey.lol
Do you have led lights in the front clip for the headlights
Little nuts and a shaft that's too short. You got issues. lol.
Love the video ...did you weld a frame for the front clip?
Are you going have the wrecker ready for Apple valley farms winter event?
@offroadrecoveryteam
2 жыл бұрын
That is the plan
Time for some minor stater adjustments lol
5:27 - was that what she said?
Should have put the radiator in before you put the front clip on
👍
I hate having to put old parts back in and hate when new parts don't fit or match especially when it's a "special" order 🤦
Nice shop Is that your shop or do u work there

Eric's home shop is being rebuilt but delayed by weather. This is where he works, and the shop is closed. So only working on the wrecker after hours and weekends.
Little nuts at the end of the shaft? Lol
New to the channel love what you do with your old Chevy square body curious question though why do you call the girl seat cover?
@Stratos53100
2 жыл бұрын
A nick name from an old story, Dont know which video explained it from past history... Seat Cover is Mara his Wife, baby seat cover is his daughter, the one that was in the office when he got the laptop
I'll be honest... I'd eat those Tootsie Rolls.

The acorn nuts suck, especially on the fender😢
You have most likely covered this question but why do you call Mara “Seat Cover”?
@NBSV1
2 жыл бұрын
Old trucker thing of seeing a pretty lady in a car or truck and calling them a seat cover. Might be something else to it, but that’s what I’m familiar with.
@Docstantinople
Жыл бұрын
Doesn’t make sense to me either. So I just call her “Derp” because she doesn’t seem too smart.
Is the cylinder to assist the steering sector
@NBSV1
2 жыл бұрын
Yes. Helps takes some load off the steering box by adding assist to the shaft itself.
ωραιος 👀👀🍺🍺👍👍
That magnet mounted Snap On light is wonderful yet STUPID. A single magnet per clamp half? The clamp is a waste. Most shit on modern vehicle is no magnetic so a $250 paperweight usually. Then the color adjustment? WHY and it always happens at the most inconvenient moment. I bought the blue point version first which is double stupid because it doesn't flip around the way the Snap On one does and can hardly point light where it's needed and mostly shines in your eyes when you don't want it to. I'm gonna swap them all for the magnet arm mount M fuel I think.
👍🇨🇱
The directions are just some other guys opinion....lol
👍👍👍👍☕☕🍩🍩
Why's the guy with the camera talking? He's super annoying
I never want to see you in the woods.
