Too bad they didn’t give the US longer visa exemption this time …I liked that 45 days last time..

Just got approved for a 5 year Elite visa under the old system at 600k. Tossing up whether to pay for it in the next weeks. Thinking maybe the yearly retire visa is a better option, depending what might happen in 2024 with visas.

I’ve come to the conclusion Thailand doesn’t know what it’s doing tomorrow, let alone March, talk about longer visa waiver extensions then nothing, going to Malaysia and Vietnam is now more favourable

It's not Thailand. It's the media believing they can put pressure on the government. There was never any proposed extension

I'm from Canada, and I think a good idea would be to purchase a 30 day extension before you travel and enter the country. So in other words before leaving Canada, I go into a Thai Imm. website pay 1900bath and get my 30 days immediately. Saves me time, and inconvenience, and saves Immigration investing manpower processing locally. As a matter of fact they could allow a 60 day purchase for 3800baht as well. That would be a bit of a revenue maker, and I'm sure it would be well utilized.

If the current "governement" wanted to boost tourism by letting visa exemption expire (everybody would need to pass through the highly bureaucratic procedure to apply for a simple touristic visa, even for 7 days?) it would be the continuation of the past aberration. I planned to come back in 2025 - if there was any kind of compulsory bureaucratic visa for everyone at that time this would be for me the moment to say goodbye to Thailand for ever. And I bet: such a measure would surely boost tourism in this country a lot 😈.

Any more talk about the 90 days visa exempt for westerners? I’m arriving in 10 days and was hoping not to necessarily need to do a border run or extension …
