"Mr Miyamoto requests your presence" So badass.
Congrats Tim on getting your cartridge signed! If I had a video game signed it might be Nobuo Uematsu signing a copy of Final Fantasy VI.
honestly Tam is just too awesome it's not really fair
Ever since they got back into the office, Tamoor has been around a lot less and it has had a profoundly degrading effect upon my soul. This Gamescast was like popping an ember. Tam’s got me fully enkindled.
Hell yeah. Love to see a Gamescast that's just a general discussion topic.

Spider-man 2 is about to blow up and Tim is gonna be wrong. There is so much they can still do with story and villains, this going to be huge.
Always nice to see Tam on the show
Genuinely there are so many way to improve on Spider-Man PS4 that insomniac has already implemented on Miles Morales. Better pacing, no stealth MJ missions, better web swinging, map redesign, and better combat was all improved in MM. Not to mention, you can redesign the whole city, add Queens and Brooklyn and make then as big as manhattan, improve combat, ability to switch from Peter and Miles, have Miles and Peter traverse the open world, better boss fights. Insomniac has already seen the criticisms of Spider-Man PS4 and the fact that they implemented a lot of those in Miles suggest that Spider-Man 2 will not only address those issues, but improve upon what was already working in the first game. Spider-Man 2 will be a GOTY front runner that I know for sure.
Y'all are really downplaying how great Spider-Man 2 could be. I think that you guys forget that Venom being in the game likely means that one or both of the 2 Spider-Men will be getting a symbiote suit that could potentially give them more abilities.

They have this weird knack of downplaying the Spiderman games, and Insomniac in general (I remember Blessing saying on the metacritic predictions episode that he thinks they may have peaked or found their level, which is weird given their consistent stellar output which is only improving) - while also acting like Starfield is going to be some sort of generational game. Really odd opinions tbh
Any Chance Barrett Can Do Story Re-Cap Videos for these Sequels?? I never finished Fallen Order, but I know Barrett could make a great vid to catch us up.
That Cartridge is an absolute gem, what a thing to own.
Tears of The Kingdom has a lot to live up to, for me especially. I'll be highly disappointed if the game is very similar to BoTW, mainly due to the 6ish year dev cycle it has had. That's a lot of time for something to be very similar. If it does come out and is amazing, I'll be the first one to admit my worries were for naught.
Tam always has so many great things to say. Cool episode. Good job everybody.
So good to see Tamoor back on Kinda Funny content!

With Street Fighter 6, if the single player is just walk around as your custom character and meet the Street Fighter characters and get moves like Pokemon, that's the best and I'm sold there. Street Fighter does not need a big story mode like Netherrealm, it's not necessary.
With the name Clive, I was initially annoyed that it didn't match up with the FF tradition of being related to nature in some way. Then I looked it up and Clive means Cliff (a bank), so now I'm ok with it.
Andy on every game: “Lessons will be learned”, repeated throughout the show Andy on Starfield/Bethesda bugs: “Lessons will not be learned”. Had me rolling.
"Lessons will not be learned" got a big laugh from me 😂😂
This was such a damn fun episode! Thanks y'all!

There’s a funny thing about a sequel. A sequel has the opportunity to improve upon gameplay to take any flaws. You noticed in the original and make them go away. Horizon Forbidden West excellent example of this we know the first game felt a little dead. It was your character, but we really didn’t interact with other people. The gameplay was great. The interaction with others in what was supposed to be an open world or semi-open world whatever not so much. GOW Ragnarok another example here is a game that was literally a masterpiece 810 how do you improve upon it? Well, there were some gameplay ideas that the developer likely couldn’t squeeze until the first game. They squalls them into the second game and if you’d like that gameplay idea that new combo that new method it worked. GOW Ragnarok is also an example of how a sequel can do what’s expected what demand it but not bring as much fire as the original launch title. The 2018 GOW did something amazing it revitalized a franchise. It did something new with a franchise we didn’t see it coming and you caught us by surprise and boy did it. Wow us. The thing is once I’ve seen it, and I know there’s another game in that series in that vein coming. You can’t catch me by surprise again. So, in some essence people looked at it and said I’ve seen this before I’ve done this before. Don’t get me wrong. I want to do it again and again and again, but it doesn’t have that impact like the first game did. I imagine Spider-Man this year will suffer from the same issue, but this can be overcome with story. I can show you the same gameplay mechanics. I can show you the same ideas and concepts again, but if I give you a compelling story with updated gameplay mechanics, who cares, if it’s something you’ve seen before it feels fresh it feels new and you the gamer want more of it No, I can’t give you a case where a SQL failed ME Andromeda. Here’s the funny thing that game was great 8.0 it was not a bad game, but it did not live up to the standards of his predecessor a hard tin probably an 11 if you could push the scale any further. The thing is it just didn’t live up to expectations. Was it fair to say expectations so high probably not because if I’m honest with myself and that game, then just a launch game and we never heard of the previous games in the series we would’ve given it a 9.0 we might’ve been giving it a 10 but just because of where it came from Just because of what it should have been lost points when we look at wire, lost points, lost points because the story just wasn’t as good as the previous stories in the series when we look at Wyatt loss points because certain character certain races from the previous games in the series just weren’t there. Ultimately it lost points because the owner of the franchise wanted a new game to come out in the series because they want to make some money and they had to have a sort of spinoff game that didn’t quite follow the next game chronologically speaking, but was part of the story and they just couldn’t squeeze this in properly. Like I said, it wasn’t a bad game it wasn’t as great as the ones that came before it, and as a result it suffered. One more game from BioWare. DA 2. This was a good game, but it suffered from one flaw. It was rushed. They couldn’t develop enough world enough environments for us to interact in so we saw us constantly returning to the same place to do certain tasks. We kept returning to the city where the game takes place in. It wasn’t a bad story any other game that did this would’ve been OK but because we expected a more open world to play in because we expected a bigger landscape to play in confining us to the city Caused the game to take a hit. In fact, when the sequel came out, the developer made sure we weren’t confined to one city. They made sure they rectified this issue. An example of how SQL can take a hit because it doesn’t do what gamers expect and then how the follow up in the series can do what gamers elect and win game of the year
I feel like Ocarina of Time didn't have a lot of big issues tho, it was hard to pinpoint what was missing. Botw it's very easy to pinpoint, we missed out on dungeons, enemy variety, a good story and good bosses. Add all of that and TotK can only be better.
@adamlgiroux

That's true, but TotK by virtue of being a sequel can't be the "revolutionary" game that BotW was. That's why the Ocarina/Majora's Mask comparison stands.

I think people who expect a good story from a game like Botw usually don’t even know that open ended gameplay and good storytelling can’t be mixed mix, even RDR 2 which had one of the best stories fucked up in that regard where he open ended gameplay contradicted the very linear story which makes them feel like two separate entities.

Tri: Agree with everything apart from enemy variety, it's at least on par and often exceeds other open world games in that department even with being on a less powerful system. Great show! Always awesome to see Tam join on for some awesome video game discussions!!
Just wanna share that Michael B Jordan references subbed anime when discussing Creed. "I was gonna put subtitles into the scene but I realized even though I am used to reading and following action from watching anime, maybe the rest of the audience isn't". So I think our boy is at least playing both sides of the anime fields, if not a sub watcher.
Amazing story Tim/Tamoor!

Ultimate Spider-Man is such a nostalgic title that I’m sure many people including myself are going to compare this one to. I agree. I don’t think people realize that while Breath of the Wild is one of the best games of all time it’s almost impossible to create another of the best games of all time back to back. I think it will be received as Ragnarok. Not as good as the first one but still an amazing game.
Who does the art for the video wall?
Holy shit!! Tim.... I cant begin to explain how jealous I am, but this is overshadow by joy. You deserve it man. This is the best present ever. I would tear up.
Said this a long time ago, but you will play as both Miles and Peter. Each might have their own story going on at some points, and it'll switch back and forth like Ragnarok. At some point Peter will get the black suit, and maybe go a little too far. Then you fight him as Miles, get the suit off, then Venom happens later and they fight together.
I would be nervous for TOTK being more of the same if it came out 2 years after the initial trailer, but it’s been 4 years they HAVE to have something incredible in store for us!

What I've learnt in my 3 decades of being a gamer is NEVER bet against a mainline zelda game. I can almost guarantee it's gunna be great and have parts in it where it will blow your socks off
What is your problem with the Hollow Knight map system, Tam? Because I thought it was perfect. I want to explore the world without having everything already shown to me. I love that you have to find Cornifer first and that you have to make a decision on whether to equip more combat charms or equip the compass charm to see where you were going. But once you have it, the map works like in every other Metroidvania. I think it's just genius and fans love it, so I doubt they change it. Also, Silksong will have a completely new world to explore, it definitely has the possibility to surpass the first game.
@muammalali854

For me personally I didn't have any issues with the map and loved looking for Cornifer, but I hated that you had to use one charm space to see your character on the map. Disagree with Tam and Andy about Hollow Knight's map being "tedious" and needing to be changed. The map that gets drawn-in at a bench after you explore is one of the coolest and most innovative metroidvania maps in a long time. I wouldn't mind them doing something different for Silksong, but I hope it still retains the aspect of you having to explore in order to chart your way. I do agree with Tam that it's been so long in development that I expect a SotN-type upside down castle moment in the game. I mean they showed it at a Nintendo Treehouse in summer 2019 being played like it was almost done, there has to be more to it than just making more areas and bosses (I'm probably setting myself up for disappointment).

Jedi Fallen Order was a good base but the sequel straight has to be better or it will be a disapointment
I’d for sure go the other way with Silksong, at least if we’re measuring by Metacritic score. 87/90 isn’t too wild to beat. If you recall, Hollow Knight was a bit of a sleeper for a year+ until more people finally played on Switch. The reviews reflect this a bit. I think the sequel will benefit from the pent up hype. (PS: I didn’t know what y’all meant at first by the downsides to the map system and exploration, but it all made sense once you said you were trying to entertain an audience on stream. I’d never really thought about that…I think getting lost is fun, but only when you’re just playing for yourself.)
Jedi better fix that map. The map in the first game was awful. I gave up on trying to collect everything due to the map being terrible. When the game stops being fun I play something else that is. Great story and looking forward to seeing where this game takes the series.

Does anyone feel a little irritated by Blessing saying the swinging and combat can't be/feel any better? I definitely think there's a lack of depth with the combat(no risk, all reward) and swinging that can be improved upon to make them feel more engaging and fluid. Take Web of Shadows or Spider-Man 2, hell even Ultimate Spider-Man had a learning curve with the swinging that felt good to master. Insomniac's swinging is due for a physics system that is more reactive to the player. Aside from that tangent tho this episode has had great discussion lol, i just get bugged from Bless when he comments on Spider-Man and his comments on Arkham always echo back
@Shrewdy1

Blessing consistently comes out with some of the worst takes heard on Gamescast. I remember on the metacritic prediction episode he reluctantly predicted like an 86 for Spiderman 2, saying Insomniac have peaked and found their level in terms of the quality they can achieve - just an absolutely bizarre comment. Then he goes on to fawn over Redfall and act like Starfield is going to be this generational game. Not to mention the blindly predicting of like a 97 for TotK, based on nothing other than it being Zelda. Just can't take the guys opinions seriously nowadays. Even that one example about the swinging - of course that can be improved on, given this is PS5 exclusive. I'm sure I've seen someone talk about it before, saying it was gonna be reworked completely. This being only PS5 opens up alot more the game can achieve - while on the other hand, TotK is surely going to hamstrung to some extent by the outdated Switch hardware. You can't tell me this game is gonna be a huge leap over it's predecessor, when it's on the same machine they made the last game on 6 years ago.

My personal expectations on sequels: Jedi: Fallen Order - Better. It will build off of existing leg work, hopefully/expect it to be released in a better state. LoZ: TotK - Toss up. Personally I don't have much experience playing LoZ games. It could be considered more true to form for the series (dungeons, puzzles, restricted/linear design) and that could be a bad thing for me as a consumer. Those also might be good changes for me. Or it could just be an evolution of BotW, and I may love it for that. Street Fighter: No take. Diablo 4: Better for me, I played like 3 hours of Diablo 3. So basically a non take for me. FF 16: Better. Played a little bit of 15, liked it. Probably will play through this one. Spiderman 2: It will be better but idk by how much. In fact, personally I won't show up unless I'm convinced to do so. The original game began to drag for me so I didn't even check the Miles game. Swinging is fun, but if its the same city and they don't really build on what they had I don't care to spend time playing it. Silksong: Better. Not really my deal. I get lost in video games. Metroidvania exploit that weakness. I think with the time they have taken, they will offer a better product. Starfield: Worse sadly. Fallout 4 was my first fallout game and I adored it. I'd played bits of Skyrim before and enjoyed it as well but Fallout 4 was a defining game for me. When I return to it, I can never get the same enjoyment. Starfield is going to be the test to me figuring out if I'm worn out on this style game. Unfortunately I think its going to be the last nail in the coffin to confirm that suspicion .
