Will The Dodge Ram Start? Replacing Injector Pump

Our 2001 Dodge Ram 2500 was running really rough. The guys did some tests and trouble shooting, and they found that the injection pump was back. So they replaced it. Today the guys see if that fixed the problem by starting the truck for the first time since being replaced.
Thanks for watching!

I have the 2001 dodge ram 2500 with 5.9. At 50,000 mi i lost the lift pump which took out the injector pump. I put the latest air dog lift pump and filter on it with the new bosch 44np injector pump and new injectors. This whole set up was a packaged deal from Thoroughbred Diesel. Worked like a charm and have not had a single glitch. The truck now has 120,000mi on it. It has a 6 speed manuel transmission and 4 wheel drive. It is a powerful work horse! Great job of getting the job done.

Every single farm out there has to have a farm truck. My uncles and my grandfather on their farm had a 1972 or 1973 Ford F-250 and used it for years. Back when trucks were built to last.

Sydney's description of the problems sounded like Greek to me. I grew up on carbureted 6 cylinders with no computers or emission systems. Nice to see all the guys out in the shop at once, and the winter project already underway. Have Seth and Mackenzie chosen any music for the wedding? God's blessings for all the family.

Congrats Sydney on getting the lift pump and injector pump replaced. Bleeding the injectors is usually how we clear the air in the lines on the tractors. My son's Massey had to have a rebuild on his injector a few years ago and recently the lift pump replaced, had to do the same type of work, just a little different, due to engine type! Hope it all goes well with the truck in the future and with the trailer rebuild! I hope you all have a good week!

It can be frustrating at times, trying to troubleshoot a problem, especially as equipment evolves and gets more computerized. Rodent problems like mice and rats chewing on the wires somewhere, is hard to locate when it is in a tight out of the way place.

Hi Ronda, IMO: All modernized equipment limits flexibility. That's why I don't purchase ANYTHING w/ a microprocessor in it. e.g. That fancy battery charger won't serve as a booster unless the battery needing the boost is charged up enough to satisfy it. Even if it's up enough at first, as soon as you crank the engine, the charge level falls below the microprocessor programming threshold, and the "modern" charger stops helping. Same thing with the truck, it has circuitry that limits it's flexibility when diagnosing and repairing it. Maybe someday companies will overcome their thinking causing those issues I don't know, but I got tired of it. I only buy bare bones, manual control anymore, and if that means old, even antique, sobeit. I'd have me another wheel on that old battery charger befor it got dark today if'n it twas mine. Don't ask me what year car I drive, nothing original on it is electronic except the radio. And guess what? The radio doesn't work. But the car drives just fine w/ out radio. ben/ michigan

Helped start a cantankerous locomotive in Atlanta one fine evening...it had come from LA to New Orleans and was enroute to DC...but was about like the Ram...just needed a few "snorts" of ether(not a highly recommended starting fluid due to potential cylinder "scarring") and after about ten minutes she came to life...and pulled her train to DC. The mechanic at the mech desk got all excited when he heard that ether was being used, but he wouldn't have had to deal with the 300+ passengers trip plans, had we not gotten it restarted! IT'S ALWAYS SOMETHIN'!..also must say...it was fun to watch Sanders walk over to the work bench for something, then come back by the Ram with his dad and two brothers pokin' around under the hood....but kept going back to his mower project, but still kept listenin' to what solutions actually got her runnin'...Good job guys...and Ronda and Maple!
