The Clippers actually had something to look forward to from 2000-02, they had young talent (Brand, QRich, Miles, Odom, Maggette) and actually improved, narrowly missing playoffs. But then they blew that whole team up for nothing.

If the curse is to broken, it also has to be a perfect storm. The Clipper’s first conference finals berth required them being the first team in NBA history to come back from down 2-0 twice in back-to-back playoff rounds. Mavs and Jazz were each one game away from going up 3-0, a lead that no team has ever come back from in a playoff series. Even the Suns couldn’t take them down after going up 2-0, and were actually in danger of blowing a 3-1 lead. In fact, Chris Paul’s first ever Finals berth was simply because he drew the Clippers, where he was motivated to get revenge on after having failed him when he was a Clipper. They have a curse breaker in Tyronn Lue, who played a part in Cav’s first ever title by defeating a 73-9 Invincible Warriors via the first ever 3-1 Finals comeback (record was 0-32 all time prior to 2016 when Cleveland won theirs). Can you imagine if Clipper’s first ever title run included the first ever 3-0 comeback?

Being a clippers fan is hard. I’ve only been a fan since like 2010/2011, and everything from then to now has been utterly disappointing and heart breaking to see. I’m only 20, so I can’t even imagine how much more it would suck to be a clipper fan before the 2010/2011 seasons. This past decade has been the best ball playing ever for this team, but even then, we have nothing to show for it. Barely one conference finals appearance and whole bunch of unfortunate injuries and choke moments. Just hoping that we can do better soon. This season looks promising cause this is probably the most balanced clippers team as of late. Gonna hope for the best lmao

Minus the injuries, Ballmer is definitely more about winning than that other owner EVER was.

As a Clipper fan I don't really think there is a curse. People understate how bad owenership was for such a long time. DS was a cheap and vile man and IMO, really didn't care about the team. I think if you judge the Clips it should be after Ballmer, only then did they start investing money in the team.

The Clippers did make _1 good pick_ who was the #1 - Blake Griffin. But to miss on all the other ones (most recently MPJ), that one stung

Yes I want this to be a series, and I'm thankful I never chose to be a Clipper fan. As cursed as my favorite baseball team was, the Chicago Cubs, at least they won another title back in 2016 after going a century + 8 more years without one.

The Pacers? Bruh, they're in the state of basketball! How can they not win? I remember in NBA Live 06, for whatever reason, I was always really good with the Clippers, and specifically Corey Maggette… behind only Nash and Dirk, he was my best player. As for the curse, I genuinely believe it’s a collective subconscious inferiority complex. I mean, yes, we all know the Clippers organization has always suffered from an inferiority complex, a.k.a. little brother syndrome, in relation to the Lakers, which means they are eternally trying to catch up in order to be seen as equals. Constantly trying so hard to find success eventually becomes trying too hard, which then results in unforced errors like poor on-court performance, freak injuries and bad personnel decisions from drafting to trading to free agent signings to coaching to ownership. Everyone involved is consciously aware of both the ongoing history and narrative that surrounds the Clippers, along with the desire to actively change it, which creates the perpetual black cloud looming overhead-/-that impending and foreboding sense that no matter what you do, disaster will inevitably strike because they are the Clippers. Everyone is already perfectly conscious of this, But what I’m saying is that the LA Clippers and their reputation are such a well known and ubiquitous entity, it doesn’t actually matter what anyone says or does because the outcome Will always be the same. The LA Clippers as a team/organization have always been known as a joke -/- that’s how everyone learns about them, who they are and what they do. In contrast, everyone learns about the LA Lakers as a historically successful and star studded organization-/-that’s who they are, that’s what they do. They each have their own unique brand, and once that brand has been acknowledged by graders society, it’s almost impossible to change it. Those brands become… well, branded onto our subconscious, which is where you’re most honest thoughts, feelings and opinions about everything you’ve ever experienced reside. So, when anyone sees or hears anything about the LA Clippers, those subconscious “LA Clippers suck” neurons are the first thing to react, which then influences every other thought or action your body produces in response, actively or passively, consciously or subconsciously, and that includes all the players on the roster and everyone else across the entire organization. The best way for the Clippers to resolve this is to quite literally not be the Clippers anymore -- all association with that name needs to be erased. Luckily for them, they are owned by Steve Ballmer, legitimately the best thing that ever could have happened to that franchise. They need to both escape the Lakers shadow and the Clippers identity, and their new home arena is a fantastic start, but they need to go further. They already have a new owner and a new arena, but they should also have a new team name, new colors/uniforms, and if they didn’t already have their new building, I would say they need a new location as well. Ideally, I would return to San Diego… That would really enforce and complete the whole rebirth/circle of life narrative here, not to mention San Diego is just an amazing city regardless and should really have an NBA team already anyway.

Can you do one on the Cavs? I think they’re one of the more interesting team to do this kind of video on. Especially since most people don’t know anything about them unless it’s when they had Lebron or “The Shot” from Jordan
