@@patsk8872 we should expect Odin2 being released when Ayaneo Air Pocket will be around (and maybe close to become obsolete...). Both are expected to be performing Android device, but we also known Ayaneo for being pricey, and Ayn for keep customers waiting forever. These are the reasons why I wrote that comment.

If this touches that 300-350 dollar mark, this would be a phenomenon, Odin 1 at 200 today is a steal but I’m sure that’s not a realistic proposition

hello I'm just wondering if any of the models support micro SD card if so whats the max storage it can handle I haven't seen anyone show it in videos but online forums say you can that so I'm confused

I'd like to say I love the challenge of going into my local music shop and trying to FIND a left handed guitar, but I'd be lying, it gets a bit depressing seeing the same sad Squier and basic Yamaha acoustic looking all lonely. And no, I don't want to try a right handed version and then pay up front for a left handed version to be delivered thanks, grumble moan ... 🙂

That charging animation looks like it's hinting at a faster charging rate. Maybe it's not the usual 10W charging for the Ayn Odin 2.

Day 1 preorder for me as long it does not exceed 350 USD and is reasonably speced for the price. Whether i will actually stick with it til its release is another thing though😅, depend on when it ships and what other stuff from competitors arrive in the mean time. One thing you don't need to worry about AYN is getting a refund from them when you can't wait for it😂.

This is worth $300 with a Snapdragon 888 [IMHO]. But that's a big ask in a market that leans towards the Steam Deck above $300. Benchmarks do suggest parity in retro gaming among the Snapdragon 888 and Steam Deck's Zen 2 650M APU. But the Steam Deck offers so much more as a PC gaming 'console.' So I think AYN is hinting of an alternative SoC such as the MediaTek D8000 or HiSilicon K9000E. Both are 'faster than a SN870' in benchmarks, yet could be the foundation of a successful $200 to $250 retro gaming handheld with seamless GameCube and PS2 support, while supporting Switch and PS3 with minimal tweaks. Obviously, the Citra crowd will be disappointed with anything less than a Snapdragon to best support 3DS emulation. But I believe that would be a poor seller due to the premium Snapdragon pricing.

@@wingsfromheaven8788 they already show a snapdragon, so definitely using one unless they have multiple SKU. I have a steam deck and the performance shown for certain PS2 titles for the pocket air (d1200) already exceeded the capability of the deck when it comes to the more difficult stuff, and d1200 is on par with a 870. A 888 would only be better. The deck has a capable GPU, but the 4 Zen 2 cores capped at 3.5 ghz really hampers emulation for the more difficult stuff, especially at 15W where it could not sustain maximum clock speed for both CPU+GPU where the ARM devices likely can. And to me they are totally 2 different family of products, so I am not comparing them in the first place. And there is no PS3 emulator for Android.

Now I'm not sure if I want to get the Pimax Portal or Odin 2... This will have the power but I like the versatility of the Portal, especially once the peripherals start coming out. Too many choices! Do you think the potential SD888 will be substantially more powerful than the XR2 in the Portal?

Portal is here now, Odin 2 may be a ways out. The Odin 2 should potentially outperform the Portal though, so it is a gamble. I've been enjoying the Portal for day to day use, I love that I can pop the joycons off and continue playing, that has been a wonderful experience.

I like the cellular from odin lite, if it doesn't have it then I might skip.

Waiting on the rumors of gpd dual screen android or Retroid 3S plus.

Idk.. I get that AYN wants to show off that they have a new Odin but some people JUST were able to get the first Odin (Pro, Base, Lite) and then with them still not fulfilling Loki orders fully... this is going to leave a bad taste in peoples mouths. I am an Odin Lite owner and I love it but AYN needs to slow down and focus on a product at a time... they make awesome handhelds but people are only going get burned so many times before they start passing AYN by...

Hopefully the build quality will be improved. The R button has broken off on mine and it makes a creaking sound when you hold it ( cheap plastic ) plus it suffers with " ghost touch " quite bad. For the price , that's not acceptable

@@retrohandhelds I didn't get any free spare buttons , I'm going to order some in a few days - but shipping wait ,..... Including an 82 UK pound import tax the total for my Odin can to 450 pounds. Does play PS2 Black with almost zero slowdown tho. The ghost touch is most worrying it's quite bad.

The timing... they should only announce it when there's a working prototype... This better not be a trend like the Loki. I didn't see this new trailer thing, hmm! You know, they promised to release the kernel for the Odin, they didn't do that, they promised we'd have a proper launcher, it's been almost 2 years... I wish they did what they would say they would do.. ya know? I might back this, and I might sell my Odin... I dunno, I'm really sour on how they treated us.

So in order to keep relevance they have to stay in the public eye, there is other companies that are great example of this problem as well. Companies like these always under deliver and over promise. I get why, it doesn't mean as a consumer I find it an acceptable president tho. But it's something to keep in mind

@retrohandhelds @stubbs Can you comment on the slight AYN bait and switch regarding the Super Fan and Super Early Bird Max perks that excluded the case and screen protector? A lot of backers seemed to be confused why those items were left out of the Max model tier when differences were clearly stated on their chart between all 3 models. Why take out that benefit for those specific backers? Can you bring this up on the next podcast? A lot of your viewers would love to hear the panel's thoughts.

Watch it be a g3x, which is just a 888+, which is basically the 888.

They said it was going to focus on Emulation and the d1200 is very weak compared to the 870. just today they announced that it is a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2.

It will be this or the AYA NEO Pocket Air for me.

No real need for the Odin 2 since the first Odin can play gamecube ps2 and Wii already

I got a used Razor Edge 5g unlocked (using it with T-Mobile) version for $300 like new with box. For that price I’d take it every single day, better screen sleeker design, I can use the controller with my Fold 4 if I want. This thing will never be delivered inside a year past it’s official release.

Ngl at $200 to $250 you might be better off saving up for a steam deck. Hopefully it has a top tier screen because i really cant see a reason to get it otherwise

Realistically a good Steam Deck will be on the order of $500. There's still a lot of value in having a good unit at half that price.

I got the Odin lite and it's really just a Subpar tablet with built in controls I wasn't impressed ambernic is way better

Wow, if you can't fufill your orders for even the first one... I hope that folks vote with their wallet here. This EMU comunity is very cash rich with some people purchasing multiple generational units. I wonder how long it will take for people to smarten up and see they are running with your money while at the same time producing as many decives as possible.

Agreed, always vote with your wallet. Thankfully they fulfilled their orders for the first Odin, its the Loki that isn't done yet. They have previously said they won't take money for Odin 2 until remaining orders are shipped to backers. So we will see!

No point for me to get it I'll just keep using my Odin Lite. If I ever want to get another handheld I'll just get a steam deck or something more meaty with full sized sticks.
