Was the Fire a major one,could you see Flames and smell Smoke? I heard in the News that Chessington World Of Adventures was evacuated? Was this true. The reason I ask is that the media like to exaggerate situations. You may be interested to know that last Year a Rollercoaster of the same manufacturer and model caught Fire at Europa Park in Germany. Earlier this year Europa Park reopened their version of Scorpion Express. It’s a shame that almost 2 years have passed yet Scorpion Express is still dormant with an uncertain future. It annoys me that Merlin aren’t up front about their rides. Loggers Leap at Thorpe Park lay SBNO (standing but not operating) for 8 years before the public learned of it’s demolition. Speaking of Loggers Leap Hyperia the Rollercoaster that replaced it opened a couple of Days ago.

@@georgekoshti_richman1392 the fire wasnt to bad i was on croc drop when i saw it couldnt really see flames but there was fire trucks and they were keeping people out of the mexicana area but the rest of the part remained open. I could see the smoke from up high but not so much on the ground. I hope that helps!

they need it to be themed as the runaway train again in my opinion it had better themeing with it going through the caves, it seems bare with it being scorpion express, would like to see it open again though, it is a classic

It should be rethemed to the swimming bird

When i spoke to one of the staff members they said it would cost more money to fix it then to get a new ride

When i went on before it shut down, me and some other people had broken bars on it.

It is a really old ride now

I think they will take it out/demolish it and then putting a more modern version of Scorpion Express in its original space 🦂🚂

it was in the engine of the train, I believe it was only a small fire but it blew the motor and they have not been able to replace it

It had been testing last year so must of been but it can’t of worked well. It’s not looking good for the future but I hope they decide on it soon

I read in the news that Chessington World Of Adventures was evacuated because of the Fire. Can you tell me if this was true. I ask as the media has a tendency to exaggerate situations. Did you know that a identical Rollercoaster with a different Theme to Scorpion Express had a Fire at Europa Park in Germany. Unlike Merlin the Mack Family who own Europa Park managed to reopen their Rollercoaster within a year. It annoys me that we’re approaching 2 years since the Fire that damaged Scorpion Express and it’s still SBNO (standing but not operating). I wish Chessington would give some clarity on the future of Scorpion Express. Scorpion Express is a much liked Ride at Chessington. Scorpion Express originally opened when Chessington Zoo became Chessington World Of Adventures in 1987. Back then the Ride was called The Runaway Mine Train. This name was shortened to The Runaway Train in the late 90’s. Despite the shortening of the name the original Theme remained until 2012. This is when The Runaway Train closed in preparation for its relaunch as Scorpion Express in 2014. The most notable difference between The Runaway Train and Scorpion Express was the removal of the faux Rocks the Ride used to pass through. The main reason for the relaunch into Scorpion Express was the removal of the rocks. The rocks were removed as overtime they’d become weathered and unsafe.
