Why are we still talking about trading young assets? I must of missed the part where Langdon said he was taking on bad contracts in exchange for our young assets. Those trade ideas were made fun of by the masses because they were awful and the opposite of what the FN guy just told us lol Robinson- plays 40 games a year and avgs 40% from the line, blocks 1 shot a game Lopez - 36 years old 1 year rental and a pick 7 years from now for DUREN? wtf lol

If Detroit made a rotation of its current roster the biggest weakness would not be a shooter or backup point. We don’t have enough big men. The east plays big. Everyone is starting two bigs in the east and we only have two on our entire roster, and neither are a seven footer.

@@unclesam6972 in Philly it was a problem when Tobias had to guard bigs. All the top eight teams in the east except for Philadelphia started two bigs this season… Milwaukee, Boston, Cleveland, Orlando, Miami, Indiana too! yes Pascal is a legit 250 pounds! Julius Randle New Yorks power forward is as big as our centers. So without starting two bigs we are going to get bullied in the East. I stand by that. Our bigs last year did not play enough defense was the problem. But we need to start two.

Go freaking sign Dario Saric if you want a attract l stretch big. Why trade Ivey or Duren for a future low 1st rd pick that's insane. Getting rid of our young players for a non star is dumb as hell. With that kind of thinking the Pistons will suck forever. When are you going to learn stars are never going to come to Detroit. You either overpay them to come here or develop them. You roasted Weaver for getting cap space and not using last year. Well Langdon inherited a bunch of cap and could have used to overpay for a free agent. We'll never have enough to trade for a star unless you give up a ton of future draft picks. And what sense would it make when we aren't a play in team. You only do that when you are close to pushing for a chip. Detroit has zero star players on the team. So again it doesn't make sense to give up a bunch of 1st rd picks. The big name players that seem to end coming here on trades have contracts that only kill the team chances like Lavine's contact. Everyone wants a playoff instantly. Why not try to win 30 games first. Instead of trading for THJ, we could have used that extra 12 mil and paid Jonas Valančiūnas overpay him, sign Tobias, get over Miles Bridges personal stuff give him two plus one contract. Let the young guys like Ivey, Ausar, Holland and Duren develop. If they turn out to be better than you think pay them. They aren't max players, so they can't demand max contract.

OMG, I have evidence that Holland will have an instant impact. Two reasons particularly highlights this assumption. 1. Going into the 2023 season, Holland was projected as the #1 overall pick. None of the players mentioned falls into this category. 2. And more importantly, Holland is an absolutely incredible finisher to the bucket. What’s very impressive is his assortment of moves. This includes having a nice baby hook, nice touch, and power moves. If you don’t believe the latter, check out his video on the official Detroit Piston channel. It is a beautiful sight to see.

He shot 52% on finishing attempts in the half court. He will very likely _be_ a good finisher eventually because of the athleticism and assortment of different finishes but right now he's a bad finisher, bad shooter, bad ball handler, bad playmaker... And lots of #1 prospects were bad NBA players so not sure how that is relevant He probably needs to start in the G-League. If Ausar gets injured, bring him to fill that role. But let him continue building his overall skill level

Do to the fact Holland has more offense than ausar with the same defense I think they should try starting him at the 3. He can help rebound and switching on 2's and 4's won't be a problem on defense. Do to the lack of free agent inventory I think they'll trade second rd picks for a decent backup pg that can defend a lil and take care of the ball.

Holland won’t have the same defense as Ausar. Ausar is a true outlier for how good his defense was as a rookie. I think we really need to wait and see how summer league and preseason look before any real decisions are made. Guys may have developed in the offseason or our new (actually having a) system may work well with certain players. Holland will play, we just don’t have that much talent, but let’s not jump the gun on anything, we don’t even have a full roster yet.
