@RM Art @RM Art I think Acaster is pretty well versed in music history. He's also a comedian, so I think that his question was also somewhat of a joke. For me it would be a toss up between 91, 00 and 66. I love psychedelia, electronic and post rock, and a lot of my fav releases like Slint and Godspeed are then. I personally don't ever dog people on what music they listen to, because it's reductive. People listen to what they listen to at their age. I'm sure people gave you shit for your taste when you were younger. You can only grow further if you're willing to listen to new things.

Said this to another commenter but: You can have a bias and a preference for old music, which I'm going to go ahead and assume you have, but 2016 was so densely packed with extremely great albums from all different types of genres. I suggest you actually listen to some episodes from James Acaster's podcast about this.

@RM Art Thats not an argument against 2016 being good. I love the stuff that got released on 1969, although in terms of musical versatility music has undeniably become more versatile and varied in genres. But yeah 1969, 1993 and 2016 are probably my 3 favorite years for releases

@RM Art I'm aware it was diverse, but in comparison 2016 is just more diverse. That doesn't mean everything, of course as time goes on more and more genres will start existing and especially in the age of streaming artists can choose niche sounds and get pretty popular, and undeniably most of the stuff that came out in 1969 was more influential than what came out in 2016 (with some exceptions) but thats mostly because during the 60s and 70s the musical evolution was moving at an extremely rapid pace and shaped the foundations for what we consider modern music
