Set go for it, researching manual transmissions is quite interesting. Long story short, a synchronizer is what allows you to simply push in the clutch and shift gear, without having to worry about matching engine RPM etc. All new cars have synchronizers on every gear, but older cheap cars like this one had unsynchronized first gear, so you had to decide whether you wanted to completely stop to get in first, or go for second and maybe have to slip the clutch a biit. And the “dogleg” that Cuore Sportivo brought up, is simply the location of first gear in relation to the other gears. You’ll notice on this car, it’s left and back, which puts second and third (the most popular gears) directly in line with each other. It’s a future often used in performance cars, since second through fifth gears are the most used ones, The “dogleg “set up makes it easier to run through them quickly

My Subaru is a 2000 Impreza and I need to stop before I can into 1st. I shift into 2nd at about 5 mph and can take off from a stop in 3rd without lugging the engine.

@@nicholasbentley7351 Nah you don't get It, It was a Black plate VW beetle (A 'Black license plate' here in Brazil is only given to cars over 30 years old with at least 90% original parts, that includes the battery, tires and shit) that means it was a valuable collector grade vehicle. Now imagine yourself driving a precious old car with the owner on the passenger seat, it wasn't a matter of me being a master driver or not like you seem to think you are, It was about not grinding a gear on a valuable car.

Are you sure the carb isn't too rich? If it doesn't like the choke, and is a flame/smoke spurting 2 stroke, it might be a bit too rich.

Chris Trimble no two strokes “like” to be choked. For the most part, the second the thing fires you need to open the choke and feather it closed/open until the motor gets a tiny bit of heat into it. Not to mention...as a motor builds heat, it always runs leaner.

Oh I thought those were extinct in the US. Remember how there used to be a article on how dangerous these little Japanese cars were compared to the full size American sedan. There’s quite a few in Japan still running but didn’t expect to see it in the US

My 150 2 stroke Kawasaki will literally smoke that little bug. I fog up an entire underground carpark with the amount of 2t fluid that flows through my cylinder. Almost impossible to start without the choke and barely hit 140kmph but holy hell was it fun.

Reminds me of when I fire my 1100cc triple 2stroke jet ski looks like a kiss concert for a few minutes.

Actually had the fire department called on me a few years ago messing with dirt bikes. Friend of mine had a 125 two stroke that smoked like that 100% of the time it was running. We ran it for about an hour in his backyard without moving it from the shed to get all the old fuel out without trying to ride it.
