    Thanks a lot. I must say you are doing amazing work by posting such videos on cfs recovery which people are able to relate and help them in recovering. I have been a workaholic and accomplishing types for many many years. I fully agree with your content of your video. Learnt few things in last 2-3 years.     Meditation is my go to with Long covid and the one thing that makes me feel better and accept where i am - it becomes an experience rather than an idea of acceptance.

    All of your video's are amazing but I think this is the best one I've seen so far. I could completely relate to everything you said and I think as a type A personality, I never have given myself a break. I grew up in an extremely dsyfunctional home and watched every single family member self destruct and die at an early age. That devastated me and left me feeling abandoned and completely alone in the world. On top of that, I never felt like my extended family was there for me due to the radio silence. I always felt like I had to be the adult in the family and my mindset my whole life was work, work, work. I've also always taken on other people's stressors which I'm sure added to the bucket overflowing. Just like you I've been up and down with my health for probably 25+ years. Sometimes able to function and other times could only handle a part time job. There's so many pieces to this complicated puzzle and I hate waking up every single day feeling like I'm fighting to live and asking why I'm here. Your comment about how we handle the symptoms determines our recovery hit me betweem the eyes because I'm not handling the symptoms very well. I feel like a caged animal in a body that clearly isn't functioning and by nature I'm a fighter. In this case, fighting it is not to my benefit but I don't know how to stop. I'm also a driven person so I put so much undue stress on myself everyday about the long list of things I "need to do to recover" and it backfires. Thank you for giving me permission to take breaks but my challenge now is learning how to let go and have fun when my symptoms are screaming in my body all day long. I don't even know what fun is anymore because my brain feels dead and that leads to depression. It's clearly a dilemna.

    the simalirty in personality types is uncanny amongst cfs and chronic illness patients. I too grew up in a fucked up home, alcoholism drugs death sexual abuse, everything. became "strong" at an early age, put all my time into sports work and becoming the perfect person in my mind. took on other peoples issues because i always had to be the hero. and that was hurting me all the way throughout. also, I am a literal fighter in that I competed in MMA before this. I relate to everything youve said so deeply, the biggest challenge is not continuing to work and fight, but to let go and learn to just be chill. its so hard

    Great perspective, for me meditation has been one of the primary things to help get me into a parasympathetic state. For me, a lot of different types of meditation were unhelpful, the most helpful meditation that has helped me is body-based relaxation meditations that include deep breathing. I really try to just relax my mind and my body, and ignore any symptoms or inner critic voices that are trying to get me to do stressful patterns. But yeah, I totally agree with you that we can’t be too rigid or overachieving in trying to do relaxation practices. For me, 10 to 20 minutes a day is a realistic and sustainable practice that has really served me well., But I have given myself permission to just skip days if I am a little busy or just exhausted. I think I’m going to meditate 5 to 10 minutes every day for the rest of my life. It really is a great practice in our modern world to be able to focus and relax. It’s really just an intentional practice to get yourself into a relaxed state, therefore training your brain and nervous system to get back into balance.

    Diet was a fundamental base to reduce worry in my mind . When I knew I was taking care of my body it removed extra mental stress in that way for me personally

    Changing my diet didn’t touch any of my symptoms. Meditation and yoga really helped me a lot. Lifting at the gym would make me worst. Laughing yoga helped me a lot too. Appreciate the video Miguel.

    Thank you for this video. I have CFS since 2017. I can function wherein I have a full time job and do some hobbies on the side. On average I am only about 70-90% my previous functional energy level . I crash a lot especially after acting “ normal” because I am having a great day. I have learned to listen to my body and it’s cues when it tells me I have done enough and time to take a rest and recharge. Oftentimes I know what brings on the crash, but there are times crashes don’t even have a precedent. I saw your interview with Raelan and started doing some form of brain retraining/NLP of some form on my own, but I crashed after ignoring some symptoms that my body was telling me because I somewhat felt a little better. I also hate meditation. I am not able to do it well. But when you said in this video that it’s okay to listen to your body, I took a sigh of relief because I was pressuring my body to get better soon, thinking maybe I am not willing my body to get well fast enough ( mind over body matter…). Like I said, I am not 100% better but highly functional and now l am reflecting that if I will just be gentle with myself and listen to my body cues without dwelling on what I am going through, this may bring about the breakthrough of 100% recovery that I am aiming for. Thank you for inspiring others!

    I'm glad you found the videos helpful! Meditation isn't for everyone. Definitely use your intuition on when to keep going and expand and when to pull back. Based off how you feel. This illness is very "cause and effect" but there are times where adjustment periods and symptoms will flare without reason. Good thing is that the approach is the same. Rewire those thoughts!     Indeed it's not always easy to be calm and collected with symptoms. I 've never thought that sometimes as a player I was too emotionally involved in the recovery process. But isn't it just normal to allow feelings like anger and frustration to just exist? Sometimes i' m just confused about what mindset I should have. I don't know if I'm making myself clear here. Lol. I like meditation but these days I'm not being consistent indeed with it. I can totally relate to the testimonial where the person says they forget that they are sick.

    That's something I struggle with as well. I have spent my whole life suppressing my emotions and I feel like that is part of what got me sick. I am learning how to feel them again. I have been told that it is healthy to feel them in the moment and let them complete and pass through. The problem is when you suppress them or let them change your internal dialogue and lead to negative thought patterns. That would keep you trapped in the feeling and a bad mindset. Just realizing that uncomfortable emotions are normal and not dangerous and will pass. It's difficult to stay calm and collected during the beginning of an adjustment period. I worry that the frustration and tears at the beginning are something I need to suppress or if I should feel them and let them pass so I can go back to calm and collected for the rest of the adjustment period. Maybe Miguel can share his thoughts on that?

    Thanks Miguel I'm gonna go eat that cake in the kitchen now. I hope to book a call with you soon once I get my anxiety side effect from antidepressants sorted out. I just have to hang tough until then. Great video by the way. I was super bloated this morning but tried to force myself to do meditation but it was miserable. So instead now I just roll with it and make myself feel better by watching some youtube.

    So helpful!!... I have a list of 14 goals (started with 6 or 7) I try to accomplish everyday: Rewire, eat healthy, do breathing exercises, get sun, stay in energy envelope, do stretches... On my bad days, I'm only able to check off 7 or 8, but I''ve learned to be happy with that. I have meditation on the list, but rarely do it, and that often makes me feel a little guilty. I did meditation regularly a couple years ago, but never looked forward to it. It seems best just to take it off my list and do the things that are necessary and the things that I enjoy! Thanks!!

    I agree do what works for you. If you can’t meditate it’s better to do something else to relax like listening to music. For me personally I find meditation and breath work really helpful to calm my nervous system. I’ve been doing it daily for the last year. Yoga Nidra meditations are very stilling on the mind and body and you get to set a positive intention. They really help me through adjustment periods.

    I love your channel, it definitely gives me helpful info and, most importantly, hope. I live with cfs for years, so staying hopeful is not easy. However I'm going to disagree with you on mediation. I absolutely hate meditation, i dislike everything about it, but for me it works, it is one of the few things,that helps me significantly and consistently. I feel much worse without it. So I do it twice a day, regardless of how i feel about it and it works. I'm getting better. I guess the path to recovery might be different in each individual case.

    I struggle with this a bit because in my head I tell myself “well recovery takes work and sometimes doing things you don’t want to or don’t feel like doing” and so it’s hard to know … when do we push ourselves to do the brain training even if it takes effort, or do meditation even when you don’t feel like it?

    yes, sometimes I get that its difficult to have follow through and be consistent but without consistency it won't work. Give yourself 4-6 of consistency with the brain retraining since it take that amount of time for the brain to form a habit and hopefully it will click.

    Hello Miquel. I am post covid for 6 months now. Yesterday i did too much fysical and had a conflict with my spouse so i had fysical and mental stress. I have little children too. My fatique is so much worse now and my shortness of breath is increased and couldn't sleep tonight. What can i do. You have any tips?

    Unfortunately I generate lots of anxiety, inner tension and restlesness ... and things like meditation makes it worse. Also my head is so fatigued, that I can't concentrate on meditation, tapping etc.. So I force myself to go outside, move or watch KZread when I'm able to keep my eyes open. I did quite a few things for recovery, but since my dip I can't do them anymore and I decided not to force myself to do them. But I have to admit, it's hard for me to think I can't do anything for my recovery at the moment

    I'd break up your walks. Instead of extending a long one. Try doing shorter ones more often. We find that helps people quite a bit.

    mediation is the act of swatting away negative thoughts that present themselves to you as opposed to visualization is imagining your body performing a certain action in order to lower a response your body is having (symptoms and pain).

    i dislike medittion because it feels like time wasted, even though once iv done it iv enjoyed it n feel better XD so i save it for those times when i feel particularly overwhelmed, achey, tense etc (i do it lying on floor in resting pose n it really helps reset my spine neck n hips) i do ensure i go on a daily walk, except sundays. Lately ive been feeling underpar, so i dramatically reduced my walks. it was disappointing, frustrating etc, but as i said to my therapist, ive got to be kinder because only 4 months ago the amount ive reduced to was the highest i was doing back then. Plus ive realised that im in keto flu, weather has been heavy-humid and my salt n water intake wasnt optimal, so realising that has taken away the frustration etc and since then, even though im still having moments like before of dizzyness etc, theyve reduced in frequency n severity simply because i think iv figured out the cause n thus no more thought or emotion is directed towards thinking about symptoms, which means ive freed up some of the wasted energy XD
