I was married to a vegan for 15 years. During that time I saw my weight go from 180 to 254 only eating salads, rice, pasta, beans, legumes, wholegrain bread, and fruit. Finally at 70 years old when I got divorced, my doc told me to either change my lifestyle or I'd probably be dead in 4 years. I went keto in 2020 and carnivore in 2022. Today I'm 75. I weigh 165 and no longer have any health issues. I think that the vegan doctor in this video has screws loose. I am living proof keto and carnivore work.

Rather, he presents lots of different people's opinions or anecdotes that "everyone" knows are true. Poor to zero science in his arguments.

Dr. Westman, thank you so much for your outstanding discussion on this important topic. It is this type of information which helps us "metabolically challenged" patients push back on our "vegan" cardiologists who want us on a high carb, "plant based" diet. Here is the problem, however. When I tried to have a reasonable talk about the pros and cons of the various diets, my "preventive" (i.e. vegoon) cardiologist first gaslighted me about the dangers of the keto/carnivore diet. Then he wanted me to start on a PCSK9 inhibitor immediately. Then he said he did NOT need to see me anymore because I would not follow his advice. Unfortunately, this is the state of American cardiology in 2024!

All I know is that I was a Vegetarian for a number of years and I still have heart desease and HF. AT 76 I went on ,a low carb diet then keto then carnivore occasionally I still add veggies or have a Big salad. But I lost weight, my BP went down, no more palpitations. I no longer have a thyroid (no cancer) and the diet stabilized my thyroid meds. I am having pancreas issues and very very small cyst at the tail. Just need follow thru with MRI in 6 months. Diet for pancrease is a Carb Diet, low fat and NO RED MEAT. I decided after some research to take Bile salts, to break down fats that helps the pancrease and gallbladder and a couple of supplements to help my gallbladder that has also been stressed. I have 2 friends that are Vegans. They are Seniors, they both have CANCER. STAGE 4; they went to Mexico for treatment. I also lost a Vegan doctor who died of Stomach Cancer.

I was 23 when I'd first started keto and lost my period for three months. I realized though that due to the research it was because I did lose weight from inflammation and I was already very thin to begin with, and as I adapted more and more to it my hormones rebalanced and weight started to come back on, my period returned. I also attributed the loss of period to stress given my body wasn't used to this way of eating at first.

Give me unprocessed plant protein and fats without the carbohydrates which, due to a lifestyle misstep, my body struggles to metabolise then whoopee. In the meantime I think a meat and fish inclusive low carb diet will do for me.

It's really absurd and laughable seeing Dr. Westman with his calm, professional presentation react to these other "doctors" videos with all the wild theatrics and bizarre editing to deceptively grab the viewers' attention. I kind of feel like I am in a fever dream watching the absurdity of other doctors' videos. So much weird extra crap pooped out on the screen, like all those weird subscribe and like button animations. Since so many creators, even so-called educators, have taken this shameful practice, I guess I got used to it and am grateful Dr. Westman points it all out. Sometimes we need someone to criticize this nonsense, status quo is not always ideal... Anyways, great video. Definitely always get a good belly laugh when watching Dr. Westman react to these "doctors".

I used to have them when on a standard diet, but every time when I changed to a Mediterranean diet they disappeared in about a week. Dr. Westman i really appreciate the way you present things, the mere fact that you ask that doctor every year for evidence of any negative thing against the ketogenic diet tells me that you put people first and is continuously seeking knowledge on this diet, even with 25 years experience. while, of course, you will have some biases for the ketogenic diet . I also find that you have some flexibility in some areas of the diet. What i would like to know, I have not seen you address in any of your videos, that after people reverse their type2 diabetes and lose weight, how do they maintain iT? Do they remain for the rest of their lives eating the same way or are they allow to introduce, in moderation, SOME whole foods, like low sugar fruits, and what about vegetables.? I was able to lose 21 lbs from January to end of april on a low carb diet, usual amount of protein and less maybe less fat that i would normally consume, cut out all processed foods and sugars, ( still had some carbs that is not allowed in keto and fruit sparingly consumed , it was not low as a keto die,)together with fasting.I made the error of going for a blood test immediately at the end of the month of fasting in April and my cholesterol went from 208 in December to 216, Tg from 119 to 50, HDL from 52 to 56 and ldl from 132 to 150! I am at the lower end of my bmi with the current weight loss. My AIC went from 5.4 to 5.2. ( My normal diet before that was meat and carbs, less fat, but much more carbs than meat)

health risks are overblown - they are confusing transition to fat burning with long term and don't define what a keto diet is. I remember an Australian Dietician who is now a professor, talking years ago about 'the risks' and how it might cause heart problems and his reference was a study where they infused the circulatory system of a dog with fat - to the point of causing arrhythmia. Mmmmm. no really the same as eating fat in context of food is it. I was on the keto diet at the time, and I remember laughing because they were talking about keto 'stink' (crotch), and how its associated with all cause mortality. I was on my way to a rowing event, and I was in ketosis and could power row for hours - my snack was a few macadamias but I thought if I died in a car crash or drowned, it would be a 'keto diet death' LOL

I feel better at 51 than I felt at 32, when I wasn’t able to have a baby and then got uterine cancer (chance for baby gone), then later was diagnosed with MS. So, if all that is what I get for not being on Keto…well, I think the choice is pretty obvious.

Unfortunately, a lot of lies are being told at least 100 years ago, and making people increasingly sick, fragile and sad. *Depression, schizophrenia among other brain diseases is a malnourished body, a malnourished body is Depression and Schizophrenia among other brain diseases*
