My Dad use to drive these army, along with the GM's, and used them for scrub clearing on the family farm, and my old boss at a saw mill up here QLD. used one for a crane truck, another one has a massive winch for pullin' logs out of the scrub, good ol' working rigs. Another great video, thanks, Steve. from Dave.

A CMP (Canadian Military Pattern) and if Sheila's a Chevrolet it was built here in Oshawa Ontario my present and home town still building Chev and GMC pickups. If a Ford than it was built in Windsor Ontario and both versions built in left and righthand drive along with alot of other equipment, towed guns and munitions provided by Canada during WW2. Great channel.

First of all, congratulations to you and your good lady on your engagement Steve. Great to see the old Blitz on the move, brought back so many memories looking back through the rear cab window along the bare chassis of our old ex-army truck which we converted into a crane for the woods. It had a Canadian Ford V8 in her when it arrived but the fuel consumption was horrendous so we ripped her out and put a Ford-D (basically a Fordson Major) engine in her. In 40+ years of HARD use in the woods, that old beast had 1 engine & 1 transfer box replaced, you couldn't kill her. I notice you have a Massey Harris with (I believe?) a petrol/TVO yolk in her, would love to see you do a 'Will it run' on her mate. Keep up the videos Steve, hope your viewers keep growing and your dream may well come true🤞🤞👏👏🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

Hi Adam thanks for watching mate and thank you for the nice words. This one had a crane also mate for working in the bush. That’s an interesting conversation, I’m sure she still went well. No you can’t kill them. They were made tough. As I mentioned both sides of my family always had them in the bush due to how well they performed. The tractor is a Massy Harris mate yes, a 44k petrol. I will do an episode on that one again but if you want to, go back early in my videos and we are doing a first start on the Massy Harris after it was sitting for years and locked up. I think there’s one of me first driving it as well. Check it out if your interested

The fellow who said the coil must be mounted a certain way must be a real old timer like me. The coils were filled with oil to cool them and weren't sealed very good. If you mounted it any way other than with the coil tower straight up, the oil would leak out when it got hot and burn the coil up.

Hi mate thanks for watching. Yes I couldn’t agree more. All I was saying is that this isn’t the reason it wouldn’t start. If I were going to use it it would be solid. I actually had a GT40 coil (plastic square looking one)blow up in my face once that had been fitted in place of an old oil filled one but wasn’t fitted with a ballast resistor. I have another here on the bench that the engine ran out of petrol and ignition left on, it boiled the oil then melted down. Thanks for watching

That old girl would have a few stories to tell , is it a GM Canada built one or was it license built in Oz ? A mate of mine had family that worked at the old GM Oshawa plant on Ritson Rd. His Grandfather and a few of his aunts worked on the assembly line there they built over 400,000 of them there . Aside from the engines , Chev's had a 6 , Fords had a V8 many of the other parts were completely interchangeable .

Hi Steve. I do t really know to be honest if it was a Canada built one. I’ve always assumed so but not sure. That’s a great history to have having relatives that worked there. I have 2 chev ones and a v8 ford one here. The engines are obviously different but the diffs/axles are aswell. Not sure about chassis or transmissions though. Ford have a bolt together banjo housing on the diffs where Chev is a solid cast housing (or the other way around ?) but that’s what I’ve noticed with these ones here.

Only a small engine. Runs and drives nice. I repaired the tank on the back and fitted a fire fighter pump and it’s on standby (along with the ford Louisville with tank) for our bushfire season here.
