Will it run and drive? Finishing an abandoned '57 Chevy Belair LS Swapped Project! 1,000 Miles Away!
Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары
This time on Sally's Speed Shop we catch a one way flight to Wichita, Kansas to pick up a 1957 Chevy that we bought sight unseen off the internet. Someone started an LS swap on it and never finished so we're bringing along parts and tools to see about finishing it ourselves so we can drive it 1,000 miles home. What could go wrong???
For more frequent updates from Sally's Speed Shop follow me on instagram @JacobRossDavis / jacobrossdavis
And a huge thank you to the Penners for not only picking up the car for us and storing it for a couple of months, but also for letting us take over your garage and giving us a place to stay!

I worked in Wichita for about 6 months years ago. As the joke goes "I didn't leave anything in Wichita" (no reason to go back). But without a doubt you found the perfect reason. From the camera shots it looks like a super solid frame. And that engine and trans sound like butta. The "tin" can be easily fixed or replaced. What a find!

As John Travolta said in the movie, 'Grease', "What a hunk uh junk!" Looked like the guy was wrecking this '57 instead of fixing it. What a shame. I had a beautiful '56 Chevy back in 1971 after coming back from 'Nam. I'm a real fan of the 1955 to '57 Chevy. I gotta say I'm impressed with what you and your dad have done so far. To go through this much work to save a classic is a good thing.

I actually worked at a dealership in Philly as a tech. One day one of the guys on my team quit and walked out. They gave me the job he was working on for me to finish. He was rebuilding a transmission. I went to his stall and couldn't believe my eyes. He had parts and bolts all over the bench, floor, rack, engine compartment and everywhere. That's no fun trying to figure out what the hell they did and where they were in order to finish the job correctly. It was no fun.

For the right price, it's a decent '57 210 (it's not a Bel Air - some Bel Air trim has been added).
@timdavis_365
Жыл бұрын
Yep. Thanks for watching. 😃
That's not a Bel Aire it's a 210. Door panel indicates standard 210. You should check data tag on firewall. It should read model 1011, indicating a standard 210, one of 250k. If it reads model1011A, then it would be a 210 Delray, one of 25k. Project X is a 210 Delray. Project X also had the rare India ivory over canyon coral paint scheme.

I just finished restoring my 3rd 1957 chevy and you all have your work cut off for you with the body and floor. If you have a mig welder and know how to use it all of the parts are available through several companies that you probably already know about. Today is Dec 5 and I wonder how you made out. I also wonder how you fastened the seat to a rotten floor? Lastly I did not hear you say where you were staying at? Good luck and I wish I could help. Oh , you buddy Ryan that is lending you his garage and all the other stuff is an OK guy in my book

No way I would attempt to drive that car any distance! May make for great video, but that thing is a wreck waiting to happen! ;) Building a 56 Chevy, and the first thing it got was all new brakes and steering. The emblem on the trunk says it had a 265 not a 283 most likely 3:55 gears could have a 3:08 or 3:73 there were no ratios in the 2s. The car has some rust but in the New England it would be in good condition.
