In a recent KZread video, a DIY enthusiast tested his hand-built wooden plane to see if it could fly. With the engine driven from the wheels and the standard controls, the plane almost took off. The builder and his team are currently reviewing footage of the crash to identify possible issues and plan to make changes before attempting another flight.

Too heavy for how much wing there is. Plus without a fabric covering wings and fuselage there's way too much drag and not enough lift to get this airborne. Still impressed by the stability, these wood constructions are more resilient than I thought they would be.

You forgot to mention that the plane is literally going 0 mph you’re not as smart as you seem
These models are nice, but not meant to fly. However, this situation is a trick question with flying schools: "Will the aircraft fly"? No, because no matter how fast you run the belt, there is no air flowing over the wings. Alternatively, if you keep the aircraft stationary and use a big fan to create airspeed, it WILL take off. See STOL competitions for that.

No it won't fly but interestingly enough, get the prop and gearing right and it will move forward. Seems weird but it does work. Veritasium did a great couple of videos on it and the vehicle that went straight downwind faster than wind speed

Very true it’s in a standpoint the prop spins as fast as the belt and both forced counteract
Cover those wings with some paper or doped cloth and you might be able to achieve a lift off for a moment.

Honestly these treadmill videos are great fun, the real shame is that it is mostly just how fast the wheels and internals can move, because without the forward movement to get wind over the wings, it will never get lift.
It would fly at the right speed but you need the wings to be more aerodynamic, and the propeller needs to be curved a little bit
Unlike a helicopter, it's not ugly enough for the planet to repel it . . . : )
You need wind for it to fly
Number 1: No airflow. Airspeed is zero. AKA there's no lift being generated at all. Number 2: Even with adequate airspeed, those wings wouldn't produce lift anyway. Right now it's just the spar and ribs. Those need to be covered with fabric to function as an airfoil.

You need a fan blowing air towards it, if there's no air blowing it then there's no lift on the wings.

Has nothing to do with the treadmill. The reason is not flying is because the engine is not producing enough power for the wings and the airfoil isn't good. The treadmill is irrelevant to flight.
There is no air flow over the wings. Nothing will fly.

no everyone here is actually wrong. it is because the rotor is flat. the blades have to be twisted at an angle

Okay, this needs a redesign. Make the body less boxy and more round. The 2 wing biplane design can go and be replaced by just one. And you should try twin engines each run at a higher power, then you might be able to fly it.
even a real airbus a380 doesn't take off on your treadmill
cover the wings and put a leaf blower infront of the treadmill, then try again.
You really must've failed in physics, don't you?

needs to actually move
there is no point in doing this as even if the wheels reach a speed where it is possible for it to take off the moment the wheels move away from the ground (obvio in the vertical direction) the plane will fall down..

There's no way for you to even fly your just attached it to the treadmill and put the speed up there's so airflow going under or over the wings so it's impossible for it to fly sorry
