I'm surprised that stayed up for as long as it did given the length and lack of rails. Only fell over after the gear broke and caused extra friction in the drivetrain (presumably).

I was also surprised. a very strong mechanism, despite the fact that the gear axles are toothpicks. when the gear broke, it began to wedge one of the axles and brought the train out of balance

initially it had a motor that worked from twisting rubber bands. and the moment from the rubber bands was transferred through all these gears to the wheels so that the train could move.
