Will It Change Your Lattitude? Vario Single Hand Navi

Special Thanks to Vario for giving the watches to the channel:

Have you ever tried a one-handed watch? Actually, a better question is have you ever heard of them. If you haven't they are an interesting niche idea in the watch world. It's a watch that doesn't tell you the exact time.. yet gives you a general idea. Which some say gives you a more relaxed view of the world.

Island time watch for sure with a splash of retirement time. It actually harkens back to ages ago when people referred to quarter hour increments like this watch does. Half past 8 or quarter to 7 was good enough for an event time. You're correct that they should have thrown in a water proof strap.

I tell people that this is the advantage of wearing an analog watch: you can say, "It's about a quarter till." If someone tries to correct me by saying, "Actually, it is seven thirty nine." Then I just say, "Yeah, that's what I said - It's about a quarter till."

I also think that these kind of watches are perfectly fine for anyone who isn't following a strict minute by minute schedule. You can clearly tell when it's 2:15 or 2:30 or 2:45. I think you may be understating the precision of this watch and its display.

I think it's a neat concept, and is pretty attractive. I'd never buy one personally, but there's a market for most unique things.

I like the watch design and really like the "island time" attitude of it. But for a niche watch with a basic 8 series Miyota that doesn't even have a capped minute post, the price seems way too steep to me. I still enjoyed the review though!

Not been one for a one hand watch..but.. this has got my attention. The 15min markings are nice. Not a fan of the bezel myself. Nice idea, definitely a more chilled intended use. Like that

Love the vacation shots hope you had a great time! I think this is a great vacation watch ..if you (or anyone) can make themselves slow down and enjoy it 🙂 PS My partner is Hawaiian native and she drives me crazy with island time! 😂

I think this is a great watch and it has been on my want list for a while. Many of my watches are vintage and lets say + or - a few seconds a day is not their strong point. Another poster commented that quarter to or half past is fine for most circumstances and if the hand is in-between your guess is likely to be within a few minutes. A very attractive watch. It is in my opinion a good looking thing . Wrist candy. Roll on the days of free trade the we can buy from Singapore or anywhere without those pesky duties and tariffs . I hope to have one before the summer is over .

Loved the review! Nice watch I think it would’ve been better served as a quartz. A watch like this should be grab and go.

Dead batteries are not grab and go. With no date, a mechanical watch takes a few seconds to wind it up and dial it in.

I love the idea of one-handed watches. I own a Slow 24-hour watch for example, but the problem is I just never end up wearing it. I don't think it's stupid or a novelty or flawed in any way and I even like the concept, I just don't end up wearing it 😞

Great looking watch and great review / seems fairly easy to read the time within a couple of minutes not sure that should even be considered an issue and most people operate on 15 30 45 and 00 anyways ... keep up the great reviews has helped me plenty on my new addiction that is watches (not sure the wife has the same love for this as i LOL / 24 watches and counting)

@@RelativeTime Fair enough. That Luch watch (Luch means sunray in Russian) looks disappointingly underwhelming. Shame, Soviet watches used to offer many interesting designs that even offered some quality, yet this particular Luch timepiece looks like a $5 quartz watch with zero water protection.

@@RelativeTime Yes. Vostok. More expensive ones do offer some interesting models, but entry level Vostoks should drop those tacky military style dials that were designed in 90s when all things Russian were attracting attention, but these days much subtle style would win the world over as Vostok movements are otherwise great workhorses that offer durability and precision.

So, to set this anywhere near accurate time, you have to figure out which end of the small seconds is actually the pointer end, and wait for the top of the hour with the unihand set at the far left of the proper hour? Meanwhile there is the stub of a ghost minute hand spinning around at the pinion? You can take this watch, and your Jimmy Buffet playlist, and your frozen margarita, and you can get out of my accurately timed country

  • @RelativeTime

    @RelativeTime

    Ай бұрын

Depends on how accurate you want it to be. For a watch like this, just wait until you're at some quarter-hour point to set it. At that point, it's "good enough" which is the whole point of it. Since most of the time you can't tell exactly what minute you're at, do seconds even matter?

Thats just odd. I'm not having anything pop up on my end. If anyone else is and you see this, comment. I'll let Ivan know there is an issue and it's widespread. For what it's worth Vario has been around for a long time. I think the first watch they came out in 2017 (I remember Jody reviewing it), and they have been selling straps even longer.
