Servicing your own vehicle is usually not an issue but dealers might give you some grief over it if something catastrophic happens. Just because they will not have the service records.

Love your channel I wanted to ask you, if I put a S&B air intake on my 2021 Silverado will I need to upgrade my mass flow air sender as well

I have a light bar and my start stop feature in my Silverado isn’t working. I spoke to the dealer and they said it might be because I’m running the light bar to the battery for power but I don’t see what the one issue has to do with the other

the thing with warranties is, if the issue you have is also happening on stock trucks with no mods, well than, the dealer has no case and your truck is covered also.

I have replaced many MAF sensors after people over oil those filters. I never recommend oiled air filters. Also, they don't filter well, check Project Farms video on air filters.

Yep. Thats why I would only use an equivalent dry filter. Oiled filters are for farm equipment 😂

Will a catch can void the chevy warranty? Seems like that part got cut out. I just bought a 2021 and I want to protect the engine as much as I can.

The catch can should not void the warranty but some servicing dealers don't like anything to be changed. So it really depends on the servicing dealer to make that call but the catch can should not void the warranty.

@@PhastekTrucks couldn't you argue that it's got a PCV tube already? In that you're replacing it with another one, but it's adding a filtration system in line which by Magnuson Moss Act says factory parts have to be replaced with equal or better quality as to not void the warranty. Just my $0.02.

I put a JLT on my 2017 Silverado 5.3 and can't believe the junk I catch. All the fasteners are quick connect. So if you run into a problem, simply put the stock PVC hose back on before going to the dealer. There is also a screen on the catch can that has to be sprayed with brake cleaner every 10k miles.

We are thinking of replacing our 36 gal gas tank to a titan gas tank replacement 60 gal on our 2021 Chevy Silverado 3500HD 4X4 Crew Cab Long Bed Dully and want to know if that would mess with our warrenty?

No it shouldn’t if it’s installed correctly … spliced wires, etc. would probably void it

Many mechanics told me you don't use the oiled filters that only mess up the map sensor but do other damage or impede performance; anybody's thoughts? I live in California, and Amazon will not ship a cold air intake because they're not legal in California; I thought about having it shipped to my brother in Texas and him shipping it to me because I live in a county that doesn't do smog checks I'm a sneaky little guy well actually a pretty big.

They mentioned that it leaves a footprint but its hard to find. they also recommended taking it out and returning it to stock before any warranty work is done.

Very informative video as I recently got a 4 inch lift on my 21 Silverado lol but I had another issue which I find hard to find a solution for and that is my factory headlight is getting condensation/ water in it and I cant see any visible cracks. So I ended up taking it to the dealer and they said it’s not covered under warranty.. but to me it’s kinda like a defect from the factory no? Maybe I should try a different dealership? Otherwise they trying to charge over 1000 for it to be replaced lol. Maybe you guys have some suggestions?

Just wondering, does it matter for performance if the MBRP system is a 1/4” smaller on the entry and exit pipes? The Borla is a 1/4” bigger then the MBRP exhaust.

Hey guys, great video. Just ran across this because whelp, you guessed it...I have some mods and am investigating. I bought a Certified Pre Owned Chevy and lifted it 6" with new wheels and tires (35's). It killed my lower so I then installed a K&N Cold air intake, new BMPR exhaust and also a Diablo Trinity tuner to run the larger tires, turn off AFM, etc and have ran their 87 Octane tune (not even their really aggressive "Diablo Tune")...today my transmission is going out. Won't shift past third gear. Think they'll honor the powertrain warranty if I reload the factory tune and remove the diablo controller module/screen before I take it in?

Hope your Tuner does not leave any Footprints on BCM, dealers will catch this, then it's all on you. Warranties are like Shell Games anymore. Personally I feel GM ought to offer owners the chance to turn off DFM/AFM and Auto Stop for free. Good Luck to you.

Typically an oil separator should not void the warranty since you did not modify anything. Those are typically placed inline of the factory system. But we would suggest checking with your servicing dealer. Some dealers might not like the addition and they can give you some hassle over it.

We really like MBRP Exhausts. They are sturdy and priced right. They make just as much sound as a Borla.

K&N allows more dust into the throttle body…especially if you live in the desert 🌵

Does the MBRP catback exhaust for a 2019 GMC Sierra w/ 6.2 have more drone than the Borla S-Line? Which one would you say is the louder of the two? Trying to get as much input before purchasing. Thanks!!

I think the MBRP is the louder of the two. But they are both good exhaust systems. We've had some customers switch from Borla to MBRP.

Since the Pulsar is a removable product, you can take the tune out of the truck and get the truck serviced. If the tune is left in place then there would be grounds for voiding the warranty.

I just bought a 2021 chevy crewcab bought extended 10 year warranty want to cut of muffler put in a y pipe and run duals .i asked 4 different chevy houses 2 said its okay 2 said it would void my warranty which one is it?

That's when finding a servicing dealer that will allow simple modifications comes in handy. Technically if what ever you did to the truck does not directly effect the issue that concerns warranty, then your warranty is still valid but if the modification that you did directly effects the issue, then your warranty could be voided by the dealer. Some dealers understand that people will modify their vehicles and are a bit lenient when it comes to that, so you might want to go with those servicing dealers if you plan on doing small things to customize your truck.

I bought a brand new lifted GMC with 35s at a dealer that sells such a few years ago and had problems at another dealer. My computer went crazy one night throwing all sorts of lights, not recognizing what gear it was in and not letting me turn the truck off! I was out of state working and went to the local GMC dealer to have them look at it and fix it but they told me that since my vehicle was modified they voided my warranty! ..btw when they say that do they mean it’s void at every dealer in the country via some universal GM database or just theirs? Told them I bought it exactly as it was (except for the tools boxes, bed lining, undercoating, etc), and that I was told if any dealer had a problem with my modified truck they should contact my original dealer, however the local gmc dealer in Monticello IN (yeah I’m outing y’all!) stayed in Karen mode and refused to work on my truck and stood by voiding my warranty! …thankfully the dealer where I bought it was vastly more helpful and sent me a new speedometer calibrator to see if that fixed it and thankfully it did! I still don’t know if there’s some sort of GM database that lists my warranty as void, so I’m still pissed at that place in Monticello (would be anyway with the attitude they gave me!), however in over 40k miles now so most of my factory warranty is over anyway though I do have a full coverage extended warranty I bought at the original dealer. Question, again, for the channel and audience is when a dealer voids your warranty does that mean they f you out of your warranty EVERYWHERE or that you just won’t be serviced under warranty there?

Hello, I just bought a brand new 22 TrailBoss with a factory 2 inch lift. Wife is really not feeling the lift. Will it void the warranty if it’s lowered down in anyway? Or even will the dealership maybe do it??

the factory front struts on the trail boss are not lifted, they are just struts that have 2 additional inches of height. So it's not your traditional aftermarket lift. So lowering it means replacing your front factor struts. Tell your wife if she doesn't like it, don't drive it.

Why are manufacturers insisting that the vehicle have to be serviced at the dealership for the warranty to be honored and in opposition to service the vehicle at a recognized service center which may charge less for the same job.

That situation is like a "I scratch your back, you scratch mine". Dealers like to see repetitive customers and this kind a helps when it comes to warranty situations, they evaluate how good of a customer you have been and they tend to sway that direction if a customer has been going to them for the service of the vehicle. Now this is not always the case, it is more of a dealer to dealer preference.

Changing wheels and tires with the same size and off set for cosmetic reasons should give you no problems. HOWEVER, Going larger on wheels and tires can definitely void your warrantee as you are adding additional reciprocating mass and can cause additional strain on your transmission. Ford is famous for denying transmission warrantee claims on trucks with tall tires that were added.

It technically should not void the warranty since you are not modifying any major components. We do suggest checking with your local servicing dealer just to be sure.

I know you folks were referencing the GM/GMC Factory Warranty, I have a 2019 Silverado and the Factory Warranty expired due to the 36 months. Just before the Factory Warranty expired, I purchased a Extended Warranty from Zurich. Have you guys investigated the Extended Warranties and Modifications? Zurich was sold to me through my Chevy Dealer and copies the Factory, but extends Mileage to 75,000 and Additional 6 years. These Trucks are so Electronics based, going without a Warranty at only having 5000 miles on my truck was not a option. Please, if you can check out these Extended Warranties and Modifications, please let me know. Thank You.

What about exhaust? I have a 2021 Silverado Trail boss and want better exhaust sound but don’t want to void warranty would you have any recommendations? Like muffler delete or any option you may know of that won’t void my warranty

An exhaust system should not void the warranty and most dealerships are OK with an exhaust change. If the dealer can not prove that the exhaust cause the issue you are in for the warranty service then you should not have any issues. Check with your servicing dealer to be sure but you should be good.

Typically a cold air intake will not void the warranty but some dealers might give you some grief over it if it is called into question. Also, as long as the issue you are going in for warranty is not directed or concerns the intake then you should not have an issue with coverage.

Do you have any recommendation about re gearing front and rear differentials. I want to upgrade mine because I’m running 37 inch tires on my 2019 silverado. Got the 6.2L with 10spd trans. I believe the stock diffs are 3:23 great ratio. Please advise. Thanks🤙

We have not come across any gear sets that have been known to work with these models. That is not to say that there is not anything available to fit but we have not come across them just yet.

I use one dealership, not even a Chevy dealership. Stick to one.
