Don't change a thing!! "See ya, buddy!" is perfect. Put it on a t-shirt + release picture -> great merch. I'd buy it!!

@@TenkaraAddict I literally posted that comment right before you said you need to say something different 😂
The arrow pointing to the hook up is an awesome extra👍
Not a fisherman myself, but my parents loved fly fishing. I could sit and watch them forever! I think they would have loved Tenkara method. I just loved taking their exhileration in, you give the same energy. How bout 'bye bye little guy!'.

I like that one! 😁
Beautiful location , lots of hungry fish , and cool new flies , that look like flies ! Can't think of a better way to spend the day 🙂👍👍
Every time I see a Utah video I immediately think "What am I doing wrong?" since moving here about 1.5y ago 😂 I always fish close(ish) by where I live since I have no confidence in my weak commuter car to get to some of these places, but maybe I'm just being lazy and deciding not to take the time to go deep into the mountains. I swear every stream in this state has a barbwire fence running along it unless you're willing to commit to a 2+ hour drive and since I'm such a novice at Tenkara, the last thing I wanna do is get skunked for 4 hours on the road haha Thanks for the content as always!

there is tons and tons of water fishable on maps in Utah, just not near the major population centers except along the wasatch front. check national forest maps. Unfortunately its just the price we pay to live closer to major cities. But for central Utah, 2 hours drive gets you to some pretty amazing places.
I wish i was a good fisherman like you seems like such fun

The key is just finding good creeks!
That's a damn good looking stream my friend! Wow!
It is nice to see you fishing with another floating foam fly pattern besides my Well-Hung Foam Spider Pattern. Speaking of the spider, did you ever get around to testing it on some cutthroat trout?…Karl.
What a beautiful stream and incredible fishing! Thanks for the "goodbye" language lessons!
And once again you provide evidence that the fly doesn’t matter, it’s getting it to the right place and waiting for a hungry trout to hit it. I love your approach to fly fishing, you appear to have so much fun. And if I took up fly fishing, I’d do it your way.
Awesome!!!
What a beautiful stream! ❤
What a feeding frenzy! Thanks for the non-stop action Tristan!
Thanks for another great video! As others mentioned, it would be fun to see a catch rate comparison between the hyper-realistic fly and one you typically fish.
I love these videos. I have trouble spotting the take because of the arrow, which I know you want to help spotting the take. I think a small circle around the area to watch might work better, so that the arrow tip doesn't hide things. Something worth testing in some edits, anyway, maybe. You're living the life, man, and helping me out this summer suffer through record 100 F and more heat in New Orleans imagining those cool mountain streams. Thanks!
Great video, thanks 👍
I was just chatting with Steve from reelflies in the shop about this video! Nicely done
Good job! Fun to watch. :)
Bloody Amazing
Reminds me of the Big Sandy in Wyoming. Very Very Beautiful.. THANK YOU FOR A GREAT FISHING TRIP VIDEO
Looked like fun 🎣 C’Yah Buddy
Great to see you at ‘em again! I always enjoy your videos, almost always tying flies as I do. Thank you so much!
Looks like such a beautiful stream!
Beautiful stream and you sure do enjoy the fishing. And another Tenkara episode.
I can't call this "fishing"; it's fish-catching! It's almost as if you're a wildlife biologist assaying the resource. 41 fish in an hour. What a rapid pace!
How do you find such amazing fishing spots?
Neat fly!
You have taken us along to some pretty incredible fisheries. This, surely, will be among the most memorable. Many thanks!
Love the kaida, taking it out on Sunday to go after some small mouth bass on the walla walla river. Another great video
Wow. That place is sublime!

Right? Such a beautiful place!
bravo!
Goodness, the amount of fish you just pulled out of that creek is astonishing! What a beautiful creek and area. Nice!
Lol, I think you got your $4 worth out of that fly! Congrats on the 3/4 trout slam! I suspect that rainbow was planted in the lake down below and worked its way up the creek. Personally, I would have kept it for lunch so it didn't cross-breed with the cutts, but that's just me...
Thanks Tristen for sharing, my fly today looked very ragged after about 3 dozen bluegills. 2 partridge barbs and one pheasant tail left. the rest of the barbettes were chewed off.
What a perfect place
I’m curious if your wool flies would have caught the same. I’m guess so, since the realistic fly turned into a blob. Lol
I used to be very meticulous tying flies, going for as much realism as possible. Then one day I was nymphing with a gold ribbed hares ear. After 8-9 fish there was nothing left but a few small tufts of the dubbing and the lead wire wrapped around the hook for weight. I caught another half dozen fish on that fly before changing. Realistic flies are cool, but IMHO not necessary.
Always love a "see ya buddy" Saturday morning. 🤣 Oftentimes, I've noticed a lot of those little guys in the creeks are pretty darn good at spitting hooks. It's probably just due to the fact there's no weight to them and they don't get enough tension on the line, but either way, it's still great when you're catching fish! Those are the best days when you're getting bites almost every cast!

I don’t suppose you have a link to your landing net do you? Great video.
Loved this video. Love your content. If it’s not too awkward, would love to hear a story while you film. I’m at work and can’t watch the entire video but I can listen and would love to hear a story of you catching a big fish on a small Tenkara you were never meant to catch 😅 Anyways, much thanks and cheers on the videos. 👏🙌🔥❤️
Those damn house flies always fill my tent when camping.

Maybe we need to rename them tent flies.
You know he is going to slip up and say "see you buddy".
"Happy Swimming!" .. nahh too Bob Ross
.10 cents a fish is a rather nice average price. Great hour on a beautiful stream. Thanks, and enjoy.
Wow!!! I really need to get out of KS. lol
Seeya buddy
That 'real' fly after 41 fish, reminds me of when you have one worm left and it keeps getting smaller and smaller, fish after fish, and you wonder when the hell will the damn thing stop catching fish.
Nice location. Wild Trout especially Brookies in small streams will eat anything that looks buggy regardless of the season, hyper aggressive. I catch them dead of Winter on dry flies.
An interesting experiment would have been to swap the realistic fly for a simple pattern and compare catch rate. You certainly dont want to lose one up a tree!
So I went up to a high elevation creek hunting for apache trout. I had a couple tenkara flys in my fly box… I was successful. However, trying to watch that tiny fly float was a job in itself. Any tips besides upsizing or using a bright color fly?
What kind of a backpack do you carry with you on your hiking videos? I'm very much into lightweight of course, I just have a tiny sling pouch for my tenkara stuff. But I'd like to carry a first aid kid, water and maybe a snack. Do you attach your net to your backpack?
Is the hooka barbless hook?
That was epic! Did you ever see any of your buddies a second time? 😉
A greet day on the water
Always hurts when you lose one of those high dollar flies what a gorgeous creek
Paalam is Tagalog for goodbye. It's read as Pah-Ah-Lum. You're supposed to say out every syllable but when you actually say it in conversation it sounds more like "paah-lum." Then you got Japanese with Sayonara, jané, kiotsukete from my knowledge. Those all have different meanings but all used to say goodbye(or "take care" or "later"). "Sampay jumpa" in Bahasa.
Please tell me where you got the flies?
Wow, what a place fantastic. I have seen those artificial real flies and have always discounted them believing they would not work WRONG.
wow.....
This might be the best mountain creek you've ever fished!
see you buddy works for me...
Hard surfaced baits or flies have one inherent problem is that once the fish takes the fly they don't collapse like soft material flies. Just depends on what part of the mouth the fly ends up.

That is why I never really liked stiff hackled flies, though to be honest I can't say if it really makes a difference.

That is where patterns tied with Foam have real advantages - you can have a fly that looks realistic and feels alive to the fish because of foam’s soft texture. Foam also tends to catch on the fish’s teeth and saying (out loud) He’s Got It! Before setting the hook can increase the hooking to strikes ratio with foam flies.

Brook trout are not fussy and if you find one there are many more.
One last “goodbye”: Japanese! For Tenkara! Sayonara!
Do you give the location of these streams? 12:49

I thoroughly enjoyed the video. My question is why do you televise these Ultra realistic flys if you won’t say where you can buy them? Part of watching these videos is to see how these new flys work but then I want to try them also!!!

Yoooo
I like c ya buddy....
you keep saying "see you buddy" and then you catch the same two again! How much you payin them for this??? LOL
Since some of those fish are female I would say, late babe.
Why use a realistic house fly? Trout eat aquatic insects far more than house flies. I would think that a realistic mayfly or terrestrial would be better.
I like “See Ya Buddy” I’m going to say the same thing. It’s a Tristanism and should be copyrighted.
Nur kleine Fischchen,ob dort angeln Spaß macht? Für mich wäre das nichts😢
