i think this is the first time ive ever seen the genuine Will Ferrell. i like it!

I was thinking the same thing. He's always doing a character, or at least adding some kind of ironic edge to everything, and he seemed totally genuine here.

Then you haven't seen the movie he's talking about or "Everything Must Go", another serious film, Will plays an alcoholic in that one and he nails it! He's a great serious actor, he just doesn't get the roles bc people don't go to the theaters to see him in a real role, they still want The Tank.

@@jamescarter3196 the thought of pitching a script to a Hollywood production company or director and then getting Will Ferrell in it is a monumental task for an unknown script writer... ... But it's not impossible. I hope he goes and proves me wrong 👍

@@mattbest9095 I will check it out! Thanks.
In the first few minutes of 'Stranger than Fiction' I kept waiting for Will to be the funny man - but after a while, I forgot and just got lost in the story. And to this day, it's still one of my favorite films. And he was such a good actor in it! It reminded me of Robin Williams in 'Awakenings'. I think great comedians are capable of swinging in the opposite direction and doing straight drama and he really proved he was one of those.

yes! It’s one of my faves too
Still my favorite Will Ferrell movie he's ever done. I could watch that movie a million times. Just a brilliant script with so many subtlety and brilliant acting all around.
It's weird to see him do an interview just being himself. I'm used to him either being in character or just being over-the-top. Nice!
My grandma clapped at the end of Stranger Than Fiction, it was great
I love these interviews, and seeing Will relaxed and - presumably - "himself." My very favorite part is Will's laugh - kind of a cackle - at 2:21 just it cuts to the end card. That seems so natural and real. This is Will Ferrell, really laughing.
The Off Camera Show is phenomenal! Keep up the hard work Sam! This is honestly great stuff!
Stranger Than Fiction is such an awesome movie!! And Will Ferrell is so brilliant in it!! It’s so awesome to see Ferrell be so normal here.
Stranger than Fiction is one of my all time favorite films.
Oh my god, I love Stranger than Fiction! It's such an amazing concept and Will and everyone were so good in it. He should make more movies like that!
I love of camera I can't get enough of it . It's so calm and real and simple and down to earth
Stranger than Fiction is my all time favorite movie!!! 😊
I love Will in that movie. Everyone was amazing although Will showed what he is capable of.
Great to watch him work up close, so friendly and very professional x
These interviews are consistently great, and getting to see Will Ferrell do a self-reveal is gold.
That really is a gem of a movie - very touching, genuine performances. It’s the first time I saw another side of Will Ferrel and he does an excellent job
What I love about these interviews is that the actors being interviewed are themselves - too often, you see actors 'perform' when being interviewed. I love the honesty of these interviews
Stranger Than Fiction is one of my all time favorite movies. I went into it expecting something like Step Brothers, and was blown away with what I found.
I've been watching this whole series of these videos and Will is so much more quiet and pleasant than he is portrayed on screen. It's wild to see.
Awesome interview
I enjoy a lot (not all) of Will Ferrell’s comedies, but thought “Stranger Than Fiction” really showed his potential as an actor. A great movie. Perhaps my favourite of his films.
I love Will Ferrell so much.
Stranger Than Fiction is criminally underrated
Stranger than fiction is legit one of my favorite movies everrrrrr. Will Farrell kicked ass in this movie. It's so damn good!
Stranger than fiction was great! I think the writer must have read Niebla (Fog) by Miguel de Unamuno, one of Spain's most famous modern novels, because the premise is exactly the same.
Not exactly hilarious but a really good one either way. I love these interviews.

By the way, I noticed in the description it says "Stranger Than Faction".
Something like that happened in my office several decades ago. The secretary walked into the room and noticed that one of my colleagues was wearing a dress suit. She asked him about it, and he said, "After work, I'm going to a reception for a friend of mine, Chuck Bolden. His son is up there." With the words "up there," he pointed upward. The secretary said, "Oh, I'm sorry. How did he die?" My colleague replied, "I didn't say he was dead; I said he was up there. He's Chuck Bolden, Jr., the astronaut."
ahahahaha I love Will ferrel in any form.
The greatest thing to ever come out of Tustin, CA, is William Ferrell
It's my highest rated of Will's. It's an enjoyable good movie.
criminally underrated film
Will is freaking awesome

its nearly impossible to take him seriously. his face alone makes me crack up
I love stranger than fiction
The audio isn’t synced when I watch these interviews. Is anyone else experiencing that?
As someone who identifies as Will's father, this really touched me
I'm a big fan of Dustin Hoffman too.
And so it was.... a wristwatch saved Harold Crick
When the voice tells Harold he'll die (watch?v=eq22cbpER90). Some of the best acting ever put on film. It's not a spoiler, don't worry.
interview in black and white is cool.....nice
“I bet 🤤😑,” lol 😂
That's a great anecdote. Could have gone south on that one.
0:35 no no no the greatest day as an actor was when you said "who did that to you!? Gator's bitches better be using jimmys"
A wonderful performance. He’s funny as hell, of course. But to play it straight and hit it out of the park like he did, makes you want to see him play the other colors more often. It might make his future comedies even funnier too.
As weird as it may sound, Stranger Than fiction is actually my favorite movie by Will Ferrel.

meketone It's not underrated, at all. It was very well received by critics and watchers. It has about 7 or 8 on both IMDb and Rotten Tomatoes. It's just not very well known.
@articulatedkat6608
5 жыл бұрын
@@snowdjagha Actually, a 72% on Rotten Tomatoes is most definitely underrating this film, hence why the RT audience score is 85%. The 7.6 currently on IMDB and the 67/100 Metacritic scores also constitute the film being underrated. I did a casebook on Stranger than Fiction for film class, compiling both academic and media sources, and while the movie was lauded by those who got it, too many didn't. It also wasn't marketed properly, given that it was Ferrell's first non-wacky comedy, and the trailers gave the impression it was a more raucous than it was - even some of the music they picked for the trailer was completely out of sync with the pace and style of the film. When a movie gets Will Ferrell a Golden Globe nom, Maggie Gyllenhal a Saturn nom, and wins best original screenplay from the National Board of Review, it's a movie that should be well known. But it was only ever shown on around 2300 screens, which for comparison, is about how many screens Infinity War was shown on, on its opening weekend in India. Night at the Museum , which came out the month after Stranger than Fiction, has a 43/67 on Rotten Tomato, a 48 Metascore and a 6.4 on IMDB. It was the second highest grossing film of 2006, and brought in $250 million domestic, $575 million worldwide. But it had strong studio backing, terrific marketing, and was released on about 3800 screens. Stranger than Fiction didn't even double it's $35 million budget, worldwide. That's the difference between a film that is supported properly by its studio, and one that is not; which often leads to great films being underrated and/or underappreciated. And by most objective standards of measure, both are true of Stranger than Fiction.
The description box says “Stranger than Faction”. This isn’t the movie with Will Fuhrer, right?
It's great to see actors refer to Dustin in such reverential...hushed tones...sort of the Meryl Streep respect....men can have Hollywood icons too....
I think Will might be the best comedy actor of all time. but that's saying a lot
The movie was great
I enjoy Stranger than fiction, but Stranger Than Faction was a super cinematic experience.

Will Ferrel acting as Lil Dicky.
When did he pass? No, no. He lives in Irvine ... 🤪
Ermahgerd Herlererous
Will: 'I wish my dad was here today'. Dustin: 'When did he pass?' Will: Oh no he's still alive! Dustin: I think this is like that scene Jack Nicholson did in A Few Good Men where he tells Tom Cruise... 'Don't I feel like a fuckin' asshole'.
wonderful do you ask the intervierees to wear certain colors...love to be interviewed by you very personal an fresh
One of the few times the "hilarious" clickbait actually was true.
Stranger Than Fiction is a very good movie, it's weird, but so beautifully acted - by both Ferrell and co-stars Emma Thompson & Maggie Gyllenhaal. Serious Will Ferrell is awesome! Another more "real" movie of his is Everything Must Go. It is more of a dark comedy...pitch black really! Dealing with alcoholism. But Ferrell is really good in it. I wish he'd do more dramatic serious stuff.
I never liked Will Farrell 'til I saw that film (Stranger Than Fiction). He's an extraordinary straight actor. I don't like American comedy much (with the exception of Eddie Murphy, and a few others I can't think of off the cuff), but when Ferrell played this part, I just kept thinking 'Why doesn't he do more straight roles?' because he is so good.
Check out everything must go. It’s a movie Ferrell did about a guy getting divorced,it’s not funny but a whole other side of Ferrell.
there's no "a" in fiction.
HA.
"Stranger than Faction"?
Why is it black and white ?
Thumbs down for the inaccurate title even though I enjoyed the clip.
Raj John Long John on a spoon, Every Here of Something called a Gary Swanson and SHettlean pony? did you really go OC? Bradley Raymond Turnham
Hilarious? No. Mildly entertaining? Sure. So, thanks for that.
The director and producers not wanting to talk to him between takes is like in baseball when you don't talk to a pitcher while he's throwing a no-hitter.
Toby Red??? Boo, Boo, Oh, Boo.....
Dead or living in Irvine ?, the difference?.
This truly encompasses what I hate about Will Ferrell (aside from shouting all the time) he feels the need to try to make everything funny. So for me it falls flat and nothing he does is funny and all of it is in fact trying way too hard to be funny.
Jackass. He got me too...
He needs more serious roles.
FYI you spelled the name of the movie wrong in the caption (I know I'm 4 years too late, and you're probably never ever going to even see this comment, but I thought I'd try just in case you get email notifications)
Hilarious may be a bit of a stretch.
Hilarious? Words have lost all meaning today.
That was a hilarious story?
with all due to respect to the video. this is hilarious story?
Why the clickbait title? What made me click through was Dustin Hoffman's name. Show more respect for your audience.
pitiful
The straight salad concretely search because pheasant pharmacologically blink regarding a sordid multi-hop. wonderful, sleepy icon
Well it's an amusing story but not 'hilarious'.
"Hilarious" story??? Yeahhh, I think that might be a bittttttttt overstating things. You might want to take a look at Louis CK's little bit he did on people referring to things as being "hilarious."
That was... not hilarious.
Okay, you got me to click on your video. I'm a fan of Will Farrell and a huge fan of Dustin Hoffman. It's possible I would have clicked on this video anyway, just for that reason. But what really got me here was "Will Farrell tells a HILARIOUS story." Cute story, but it's not even remotely hilarious. Not even enough to induce a chuckle. Extremely misleading title. Okay, I've said my piece, and I've also wasted a couple more minutes of my life by writing this, on top of the wasted 2 minutes and 37 seconds waiting for the non-existent hilarity.
that wasn't hilarious
This. Was. Not. Funny. Give. Me. My. 2 and ahalf. Minutes. Back
#StrangerThanFiction was vacuous, unfunny, and hugely overrated - like all Will Ferrell's terrible films. LOL.
oh yeah - that was HYSTERICAL.... NOT.
