Football is declining
I think cricket is a sport that can be very popular and replace baseball in western countries but the problem is with icc. While fifa and other sports are trying to expand themselves (fifa is going to increase the number of teams in world cup), Icc is reducing teams in world cup(only 10 countries played in 2019 cwc). Wish icc will try to expand criclket in other countries.

Bro icc is also expanding teams. From 2024 t20 world Cup will have 20 teams and from 2027 ODI world Cup will have 14 or may be 16 teams. Also nations like USA, Zimbawe, Namibia, Ireland and Scotland are also hosting a cricket world Cup in upcoming years.

Cricket will never be as popular as football for many reasons. ICC and ACC's narrow minded policy is blocking its growth. Another reason is multiple formats. Test playing countries don't want to play with countries that have only ODI status and Countries that have ODI status, They don't want to play with countries that have only t20 status. Little man's Arrogant mentality blocked its growth. Countries like Denmark, Kenya, Nigeria, Romania vanished from cricket history.

I personally know people who run Indian fanclubs for premiere league teams, La Liga teams even some serie a teams With millions of followers. I am following indian football national team from 2010. It's an irony that so many Indians are so eager to spread this sport of cricket!! Even England from where this sport originated it's actually on decline. It's a colonial slave sport. In my opinion for a good sporting culture in India we should focus on the following: (i)Revive all our traditional sports, invest upon their modernisation and spread: This are symbols of our civilisation & culture. (ii) Invest for Olympic sports for development from grassroot level: We need to be a sports superpower in terms of global sports like China, US. Not providing enough resources, facilities and chances to underdeveloped countries, not promoting cricket in western countries, reducing number of teams playing in WC etc. If ICC started involving teams like Japan, South Korea, Russia and giving them proper resources and facilities to train then they could dominate in cricket but there is too much corruption and nowadays it's all about money. Not passion

For example, Vietnam only has soccer, and it's not like it's a very poor country. With the necessary measures they can create leagues and expand, but idiots think about what will give them more money and not about popularity. There are many teams that do not have the level to win a World Cup, but the mere fact of participating in the top 32 (48 in the future) is a privilege and a show of respect. In South America only three champions, the others (Peru, Colombia, Chile, Ecuador, Bolivia, Paraguay) reached the quarterfinals, but even so, soccer is a party in those countries, the same in other regions. Just for participating, it's a worthy thing.
