Havent finished the hand but I thing Charlie needs to understand his live read skill set doesn’t translate to literally everybody. He made his money playing large field small and medium stakes tournaments (several years ago) and in those fields I do think the type of strategies around table talk / etc will work. But there’s just no way they’re going to work on somebody like Antonius or Ivey especially. You’d think that’d be obvious but when you revolve your life around spirituality, which is in direct contrast with rationality and objectivity, that’s what happens I guess. Nothing inherently wrong with it just not a worldview I would bring into my financials

At 00.46 Carrrel makes his mistake. He says "Umm.." before betting asn announce that his bet is small. He knows Patrick is a good tell reader so Carrel is making a false weak tell to suggest that he is strong. Bluffers want to appear strong. So a deliberate "Umm..." is suggesting he is weak.... which means he is strong. But he isn't strong. He only has 84. When Carrel shoves on the river Antonius remembers that Carrel repped being strong preflop. So he probably thinks Carrel has AK or AQ and has totally missed. Hence his hero call with his pair of 6s. Carrel got himself into this mess by being too clever.

Risking your tournament on a pair of 6 is elite play. He's such a fun player to watch.

Patrick. Antonious. My goodness. On some next level poker. If you said you would make that call for your tournament life, you are lying.

It's certainly a fine bluff and one which, I suspect, would have worked against most players. Patrik Antonius, though, is one shrewd SOB.

Bad bluff lol just because you’re at bottom of range doesn’t mean you must bluff especially in such wide range vs range configs it’s an easy call he should have jammed turn or bet big on turn to jam river

lmao Lex said exactly what I was thinking re: the arrogance of ostentatiously trying to get a live read off Patrik. I think a lot of live-reads-oriented players who have any success think they're soul readers when in fact the primary benefit of their attempt to get reads on people is just that it's accidental randomization

Ha! Ha! I love you both for different reasons (meditation and empathy for Charlie and honesty and desire to make poker a better place for all for Phil). Phil, I have been (and still am) marveled by your accomplishments in the poker world. You are by far my favorite poker player and I also admire you as a human being.. That being said, if my perception of this video is correct, your objective was probably to throw a subtil jab to Charlie, That's fine, considering that generally, on KZread, the most controversial you are, the more followers you get. That being said, IMO, you relly suck at being nasty. Love ya! I hope for the best for you! Have a great day and have fun!

Phil, you are over-analysing the range of hands that the small blind may raise and big blind defends in a 6 handed game that is folded out to them. The blinds to stack ratios are extremely tight now. The small blind could raise with almost anything to try to steal the pot when the big blind only has 7 or 8 BBs remaining in his stack and he has only 12 or so BBs himself. And therefore a player like Antonius might defend with almost anything knowing that the SB may attempt to steal.
