I bought a mini 4 intelligent battery for my mini 3. It told me it was an incompatible battery version and prompted me to switch the battery. Damn!!

@jayuppercase3398 The only solution I had was to return the mini 4 intelligent battery and buy a mini 3 intelligent battery. I believe a mini 3 intelligent battery works in the Mini 4 tho. Don't quote me on that.

I think it’s because they are compatible with the pros but not with the regular models (ex: 4pro battery will work on mini 3 pro and visa versa but not on regular mini 3)

With the mini 4 batt in the mini 3 will you get a 'battery over current' alert pop up on the screen when flying?

Once again, you have covered fine details others appear to not care about but serious compliant pilots do!

What about battery firmware upgrades, do those make the batteries incompatible between the 3 and 4? Do you have to update them every time you switch?

I am curious to see what a Mini 3 (not pro) would weigh with the Mini 4 Pro light battery. Maybe even with that camera cap off. It just might be light enough to put prop gurads on for category 1 flights under part 107.

@InaMopar Please let me know. From what I have read and seen, it's only a couple of grams lighter. So it won't be light enough to put prop guards on and be under 250 grams.

Until there is an issue it's clear sailing. If you have an issue, the fines will make you weep. I expect an enforcement sweep in the near future. Most of my filming takes place in free range skies so I use my air 2s now. I used my mini 3 pro to learn on, crashed it many times, care replaced it 6 times at this point. This winter I will be filming a lot in a city that tried to impose bylaws that get very close to infringing on constitutional rights and extant aviation regulations. So, I'll be using my mini3pro which is permitted according to aviation regulations (federal government supersedes all municipal government), launching from the river that borders the city but is not in the city boundaries, and filming away to my hearts content- sorta looking forward to a confrontation about it too. Now, I'll use the new m4p normal battery to gain the extra tolerance to run strobes- to ensure the authorities and karen patrols see me and report it.

Colors are not mandatory, most people fit a single white one - it goes on the bottom so you can easily spot it in the sky from below. Hope this helps

In the United States, you need an Anti-Collision Light, and it will need to be on top and be visible at least 3 Statute Miles.

Can you please put a Mini 3 flighted extended plus battery into your mini 4 please? I want to see if you get error messages / hide those error messages

using a mini 3 pro I use the plus battery and the standard if I am doing 3 flights in one go. 1007km done in 48,1 hours

Got the M3 + M3P but the M3 is better for mapping given it's slightly longer quoted flight time...😉 Keep up the great work 💪

@@GAVINHR just a follow up to this query: looks like whilst the 4P batts work in the 3P they do unfortunately not with the Mini 3 (not Pro). I bought two 4P for the M3 and get the following error message: "Incompatible battery version, change battery #30211." I probably keep them for the M3P and in case I'll get a M4P eventually. But thought I'll feed back as others may wonder about the same. Ha e a fab Easter weekend all!

No the Mini 4 is Ocusync 4 it won’t pair up with any Ocusync 3 drones.

@@GAVINHR I just bought the mini 4 pro battery, after activating it and connecting to the rc, it prompted me to do a firmware update, after that it still gave me an error on the rc that the battery version is not compatible. Don’t know what to do now 😔

How about with Mini 3 (non PRO)?

I was playing with both drones yesterday and when I put the mini 4 batteries in the mini 3 it would Not power on the motors. Seems the subtle differences aren't so subtle! Way to go DJI.

@@GAVINHR You would think so. The mini 3 batteries never updated but worked in the mini 4. The mini 4 batteries said they needed updated firmware to work in the Mini 3, I didn't let them. The other ODD thing is the mini 4 batteries dont finish charging in the mini 3 charger. It takes about 2 minutes in the drone to top off. DJI has done some real BuggaBoo on this part of 2 good drones. I wonder if this could cause other problems down the road? House fires from Chinese batteries is a REAL Threat!

No way. I have a mini 3 pro and the mini 4 pro battery does not work: it fits, the drone powers up but the remote gives me an error stating battery version not compatible. Chamge battery (code 1610006A) and does not take off. Now I have a mini 4 pro useless battery. A sort of paperweight.

So my DJI MINI 3 extended battery can fit into the DJI MINI 4 PRO??? REALLLYYY??

Hasn't anyone noticed the rear vents of the 4pro is slightly bigger?

Great video! We all agree no one will ever check the weight of the drone... in case everything is fine. If anything bad happens, those 3 grams will count (and consequences are massive). I'm the first one violating rules on purpose, but it is my informed decision, not because I've seen a video from a dishonest youtuber with fancy lights stating the batteries are fully interchangeable. Thanks Gavin for your open and unbiased communication.

I don’t have any of the mini series drones but it always makes me laugh about all the bull💩people think the world is coming too an end because their drone is 2 gram’s heavier just enjoy your drone

They don't have to carry a scale. Does the Mini 3 Pro REPORT that the craft is overweight?

They fit, but it puts it over 250 g remember that

I now have mini three pro and mini four pro. I’m very mad that the ND filters do not fit they’re not interchangeable. DJI is very nasty.
